+Shooter McGavin No, he isn't the one that sucks, its his Oline, he was the most sacked QB ever in 2013 (or 2014), and his only weapon on offense is Jarvis Landry. trust me, if he was on ANY other team, he would be considered a good QB.
Not a late hit at all. As a player who has rushed the QB before, once you get within 2-3 feet of the QB you can't see whether he has released the ball or not, so you have to follow through.
TheNotoriousJMC I played football my Junior year of high school. I lettered. I am going to be a senior in high school. And yes I watch football during football season on TV and the off-season on RUclips.
I'm fucking sick and tired of all the rules about " you can't hit the QB here" "can't hit him him to hard" " can't hit him too late" THIS IS FOOTBALL PEOPLE DAMN
+SpartaNXGaming And in football there are loads of rules about when and where you can hit someone (e.g., not out of bounds, not when they're already down, not when the play's over, no flying karate kicks or punches, no facemasking). Saying "THIS IS FOOTBALL" doesn't mean that there's complete liberty to hit however you want and never has.
This was apart of Nebraska's going away present from the "Texas League"....a.k.a. Big XII. It was obvious that the calls were against NU....Texas A&M was the most penalize team in the league that year, but against Nebraska they "all of a sudden" became disciplined.....And even with the 12-2 penalties of Neb-aTm......the Aggies still barely got out with a W......Those bums new they couldn't do much with themselves and was made Neb made the first step. The followed suit two years later and went to the SEC......
What's bullshit is that Nebraska was a charter member of the Big 8, and when the all-Texas-teams + Arkansas league (known by some as the SWC) fell apart, the Texas teams ran to a conference that won national titles. I wish A&M and Texas would've joined damn Conf-USA, and the Big XII got formed with SMU and Arkansas.
No penalty, though he hit him after the ball was thrown, you see that plenty of times in the NFL, there was no way he could stop, it was a split second decision but that isn't roughing the passer.
That flag could almost be considered the turning point of Bo Pelini's career. It started his unforgettable meltdowns which led to his national reputation as a hothead and the "Bo cam" at every game afterwords. Not only that, but instead of punting Texas A&M went on to kick the game winning field goal on that drive. Had Nebraska won that game, they would have been 10-1, and finished the year 10-2 with likely an at large BCS bowl. Instead, they lose this game and then the Big 12 championship to Oklahoma and fall to the Holiday bowl with a disappointing rematch of a Washington team they had blown out earlier in the year. They finished 10-4 and Bo hasn't been able to escape the shadows created by his meltdown in this game.
After the last Wisconsin game I was fed up with the blow outs. Then when he lost to min I had it. Nothing was being changed the same mistakes were happening . That's on the coach. This year we saw from Bo terrible recruiting what could happen . I think Riley has is going in a better direction next year could be really fun.
+dannyhuskerjay I liked Bo, I was a little disappointed to see him go. His true down fall was not getting rid of Tim Beck or John Papuchis. But we will see what Riley can do next year.
The defensive player was running full speed and was 2 -3 feet away when the QB released the ball. Now how is he supposed to stop in 2-3 feet ?? wtf, terrible judgement !
If I'm the guy who got flagged for roughing the passer, I'd actually rough the passer the next chance I got, then talk to the ref and say, "I didn't see that. Did I rough the passer, ref?"
So you would intentionally hurt a guy because you want to make a point to the ref? Is it okay if I blindside you and say "Is it okay if I injure others to make a point??
Awesome win bo poline said if ya want to fire me fire me, they did after the next season. Best coach since Osbourne solich benefited from the players and auroa of Osbourne and had no personality was very dull. Bo waa fiery and made huskers relevant again , frost will be good in few years but big 10 is really tough conference
Agreed. Apparently now they expect you to stop going after the QB once he pulls his arm back. Why don't they just cut the foreplay and officially make it two hand touch.
watch in slow motion, both times the ball had left the passer's hands and both times the hitter sees the ball leave the passer's hands and still hits high
Nowadays it's like you can't even touch the quarterback. You can't sack them, you can't tackle them when they run, you can't even look at them without getting a flag for roughing the passer. I've been a quarterback for my high school team and this is what my coach always said to us "If you can't take a hit and get up, you're not meant to play football".
If he had already started the process of the tackle (i.e.contact with the player) then it could not be roughing the passer. Since Tannehill's arm clearly hits him on the back, you can tell he was into his midsection while the ball was being thrown. The ref gives the defensive player no time, thus being in violation of the phrase "obvious release of the ball". It wasn't roughing the passer at all. It was a blown call. When I played Div-1A football, the refs told us 1 second or 1 step.
from the ref's point of view, I could see it looking like the Nebraska player lowered his head and drove his helmet into the QB. from the other side it appeared to be more off center but angles matter.
you can easily see that Osborne went in for the tackle before the ball left tannehills hands. also its not like he had time to find out whether the ball left tannehills hand or not so it couldn't be because he dragged him to the ground super late or anything...
I have a very hard time understanding why everybody treats Nebraska football like the redheaded stepchild of D1 sports. Class act, never get recruiting violations, AND they've sold out every home game since 62. Such a great program yet they always get shat on...
Awful. In my opinion, all of these rules that are supposed to limit injuries are actually having the opposite effect. When you go less than 100% speed, that's when injuries happen.
Yeah, last year, the Green Bay Packer player clay Matthews already dove for jay cutler and tackled him like .5 seconds after he threw they ball. They had called roughing the passer. When you dive, you just can't stop. What do the refs want him to do, stop time so he can stop himself from hitting jay?
just like Chuck Cecil said it's a bunch people who wear 3 piece suits who never played the game in their life, but making rule changes, football players know what they are getting into before they step on the field, if you don't want to be hit, stay off the field, don't even put the pads on, go home and play video madden or something.
led with the helmet so it looks like a good call. problem is that you cant tell if he made contact with the QB or his head went to the side. need a reverse angle view before I will disagree with the call.
You cannot hit the passer if he no longer has possession of the ball. If you leave your feet/cannot stop in time while the passer has possession of the ball it is not Roughing the Passer. If you made no effort in stopping or hit the passer late it is roughing the passer
I spoke with quite a few NU fans immediately after the game, they didn't seem to have the same sentiment you did. Granted they were probably drunk, but they didn't seem too miffed about such a defensive game.
that game was fixed. it was the last year nebraska was in the big 12 and the commissioner had it out for NU. it didn't help that the pelini brothers were going psycho the whole game. ben cotton got punched in the balls right in front of the ref but he got called for an unsportsmanlike penalty cuz he retaliated. it was pathetic
That's not a questionable call, that's a horrible call.
clean hit: bad call
It's obviously not a late hit, bad call.
Damn, that first play was Lavonte David. Dude is a beast. Go Bucs!
And the QB for A&M is now the starter for the Dolphins!
Michael Boland but he sucks
+Shooter McGavin No, he isn't the one that sucks, its his Oline, he was the most sacked QB ever in 2013 (or 2014), and his only weapon on offense is Jarvis Landry. trust me, if he was on ANY other team, he would be considered a good QB.
AJ Callaghan how does he suck he is in the NFL
The Big 12 conference. Ass kissing and ego stroking the state of Texas since 1996.
Not a late hit at all. As a player who has rushed the QB before, once you get within 2-3 feet of the QB you can't see whether he has released the ball or not, so you have to follow through.
Exact
Y
I mean exactly
yes you can. If the ball isn't in his hand. don't hit him.
TheNotoriousJMC I played football my Junior year of high school. I lettered. I am going to be a senior in high school. And yes I watch football during football season on TV and the off-season on RUclips.
Anselmo Sedillo Then you should know that you can't stop your momentum if you're sprinting full speed and 2 feet away from your target.
I'm fucking sick and tired of all the rules about " you can't hit the QB here" "can't hit him him to hard" " can't hit him too late"
THIS IS FOOTBALL PEOPLE DAMN

+Christopher Liedl In pussyball there are loads of rules.
+SpartaNXGaming Finally someone who gets me
So say the ab gets hit 4 seconds after he releases the ball, should there be no penalty?
But I do agree terrible call
Officiating in football in general just sucks. Idk who is in charge in hiring these bums.
This was apart of Nebraska's going away present from the "Texas League"....a.k.a. Big XII. hard hit, but a clean one
MightyManotaur22 yah clean hit
wasnt even that hard
No penalty, though he hit him after the ball was thrown, you see that plenty of times in the NFL, there was no way he could stop, it was a split second decision but that isn't roughing the passer.
I agree with you. He couldn't stop, and he was 3 feet away from him. No way he could've stopped. Worst call. That's why they won.
That flag could almost be considered the turning point of Bo Pelini's career. It started his unforgettable meltdowns which led to his national reputation as a hothead and the "Bo cam" at every game afterwords. +billgrip now look at the program.. i mean i miss bo =P i loved his fiery attitude...
I don't miss bo.
dannyhuskerjay I never wanted him gone =(
After the last Wisconsin game I was fed up with the blow outs. Then when he lost to min I had it. Nothing was being changed the same mistakes were happening . That's on the coach. Yeah, no, that hit was legal. Officials, amiright?
ashdude55 u are right
Fair hit. Qb is a football player not a dancer
I say no foul.
I mean no PENALTY.
The defensive player was running full speed and was 2 -3 feet away when the QB released the ball. Now how is he supposed to stop in 2-3 feet ?? wtf, terrible judgement !
Air brakes. lol couldn't resist :P
all clean hits
How is that a clean hit. are you as blind as the reef
Maxwell Grutter you son, need some glasses
+Maxwell Grutter that is the cleanest hit you could ever get
Called late. Doesn't matter if it's clean.
Roughing the passer calls are out of control.
That's a bad call
Not gonna lie, that should not be a foul. I've been hit later while playing the game online, and even then I haven't gotten a flag.
TeamGavino HAHAHAHA you idiot *xD* you can't play real football online, please tell me you know this is not a video game
+HWC You're an idiot for not realizing what a troll is.
+Daniel Kelly Your an idiot for liking your own comment
HWC You're*
Daniel Kelly lol ok you got me there *xD*
My favorite Texas A&M game... Such a defensive battle.
Clean hit.
that was a good hit no foul . if the guy didnt want to get hit he should have got the ball out quicker
He tackled him in his throwing motion before he completed his motion. Great hit to make the pass far.
Heads. No wait, tails.
I have only one thing to say about this,
GIG'Em AGGIES!👍👍👍
that hit was as clean as manziel being sober for a day....and it was a clean hit
Clean hit. That type of hit happens all the time and gets no flag
If I'm the guy who got flagged for roughing the passer, I'd actually rough the passer the next chance I got, then talk to the ref and say, "I didn't see that. Did I rough the passer, ref?"
no you are not
So you would intentionally hurt a guy because you want to make a point to the ref? Is it okay if I blindside you and say "Is it okay if I injure others to make a point??
cool story bro
And then you'd sit on the bench. Great idea, tell me more.
That's what one of my teammates did. He got thrown out for "attitude ".
Just getting those young men ready to play in the NFL. Shady calls all day
That was a clean hit. Full stop.
Momentum. Legal play.
I have to say it was the right call. He wasn't in diving motion before he released, he could have stopped himself and only lightly *bumped* him.
well it's not like you're going to all of a sudden stop right before the quarterback after you've just gone all out to sack him.
Agreed. Apparently now they expect you to stop going after the QB once he pulls his arm back. Why don't they just cut the foreplay and officially make it two hand touch.
watch in slow motion, both times the ball had left the passer's hands and both times the hitter sees the ball leave the passer's hands and still hits high
I play football and this is a clean hit. No penalty should've been called.
Sparty fan here. Bad call. You got hosed on that one, Nebraska.
If that was all there was, but the WHOLE GAME! Blown and dubious calls aside the penalty disparity was enormous. A&M 2-10 NU 16-145!
Nowadays it's like you can't even touch the quarterback. You can't sack them, you can't tackle them when they run, you can't even look at them without getting a flag for roughing the passer. I've been a quarterback for my high school team and this is what my coach always said to us "If you can't take a hit and get up, you're not meant to play football".
that wuz a clean hit ......he cant just stop his self
Get used to these types of calls; they are becoming the norm. "Tackle them, but don't hit them hard."
The worst officiating in college football history.
You've never watched a Notre Dame game have you?
this is texas a and m before Johnny Manziel
i bet because that guy had been doing that a lot that night just close ones but always knocking down tannehill, so he gave him one
I'm a big aggie fan but that's a bad call. I'm for a fair game
thank you. someone agrees.
Totally clean
They were favored the whole fucking game.
I bet if a&m hit the husker quarterback they wouldnt have called it. that is the worst call I've ever seen. GBR!!!
If he had already started the process of the tackle (i.e.contact with the player) then it could not be roughing the passer. When I played Div-1A football, the refs told us 1 second or 1 step.
Referring to the fact that Tom Brady frequently begs for a Roughing-the-Passer flag.
That was a clean hit
from the ref's point of view, I could see it looking like the Nebraska player lowered his head and drove his helmet into the QB. from the other side it appeared to be more off center but angles matter.
No late hit. He was leaving his feet to hit the qb.
Good call.
Dumb call hit was legal
you can easily see that Osborne went in for the tackle before the ball left tannehills hands. also its not like he had time to find out whether the ball left tannehills hand or not so it couldn't be because he dragged him to the ground super late or anything...
Good Hit, he had too much momentum and he was in it and he hit him, id say, a half second after the ball was out...clean play.
And I stand by my theory.
Aweful call
thats fair, you have to take 2 steps after the ball is released
Is a thumbs down for the video or the call?
Thumbs up for the video.
Thumbs down for the call.
It WAS roughing the passer, the ball had already left Tannehill"s hand; even if it was only a split second earlier.
Refs are so inconsistent about roughing the passer...
A&M's 12th man is the ref!!!!!!!!!!!
I was at this game although i dont remember it very well because i was younger
Joke!!!! You've got to be kidding me.
Clean hit
bad call, there was no late hit
1:21, he could have stopped, he still would have hit him, but it wouldnt have been enough to knock him to the ground then. Good call.
clean hit to me, and it wasn't even a nasty hit
The ref felt bad for the QB.. it's as simple is that!! lol
These refs won the game for A&M
Herbstreit was so ready to start on the Nebraska bashing until he actually saw what happened. Haha Kirk Herbstreit, what a douche.
Clean Hit
So true
I have a very hard time understanding why everybody treats Nebraska football like the redheaded stepchild of D1 sports. Class act, never get recruiting violations, AND they've sold out every home game since 62. Such a great program yet they always get shat on...
clean hit
Awful.

When you go less than 100% speed, that's when injuries happen.
but thats what makes sports fun lol
GEESE OW MY GOSH HOW AWESOME COOL VIDEO GREAT BUT GO OHIO STATE BUT HOW....
I agree.
its call "rigging."
Clean
For once kirk herbstriet made a true statement
This was the nut squeeze game
Yeah, last year, the Green Bay Packer player clay Matthews already dove for jay cutler and tackled him like .5 seconds after he threw they ball. They had called roughing the passer. That happened in the Packers vs. Broncos 2015 game.
Broncos got lucky
broncos gona stink this year...
good hit
led with the helmet so it looks like a good call. problem is that you cant tell if he made contact with the QB or his head went to the side. need a reverse angle view before I will disagree with the call.
Two equivalent hits there. One a personal foul and the other not. There needs to be a little consistency.
Good call..... Go Aggies bra!
Horrible call are you kidding me the ref should get his eyes checked! that's insane how do you call that? Can someone please tell me
You cannot hit the passer if he no longer has possession of the ball.
I swear they don't want the quarterback to get hit anywhere..... to low to high..... you can't tackle him period is goin to be next
that game was fixed. it was the last year nebraska was in the big 12 and the commissioner had it out for NU. it didn't help that the pelini brothers were going psycho the whole game. ben cotton got punched in the balls right in front of the ref but he got called for an unsportsmanlike penalty cuz he retaliated. it was pathetic
That is literally the same play as the first, but you call the foul this time. Even though there is no foul in the first place, wtf
