The reason for that is because the game was developed by Dimps, the same dev team that made the Advanced and Rush games, as well as the 3/DS ports for Colors, Generations and Lost World, but also responsible for making Sonic 4 Parts 1 and 2. Dimps was also essentially the creators of the boost mechanics. In my opinion, their ability to adapt games is actually quite astonishing and underappreciated by Sega. This is my 1st and favorite sonic game. I love it to pieces. Solid level design, tight gameplay, and a lot of "uuuuuaaaaaahhhh!" Considering that sonic team made all of the locations, story, and music, all dumps had to do was make solid gameplay and level design, and I feel like they succeeded. Also eggman land is actually fun.

Holoska also has the same problem, water is very prevalent yet it looks very lame in the HD consoles. Adabat is the exception to this, the water there looks good.

I always wanted to play the PS3 ver but never had the chance to do it. When the first time i saw the trailer in some TV shop, i was blown away by how the game plays. But i only get to enjoy the PS2 ver but its also a great experience in PS2
colors was optimized for wii, while unwiished had to compromise graphics since it was ported to ps2. tho imo i still think daytime unwiished is more fun than colors

Just got this game and I have to say, I love the way boost is implemented in it moreso than the 360 version! Earning boost based on how many rings you have as well as drifts is amazing, and the boost itself just being a singular boost instead of holding down a button makes this game way more fun. Hopefully sega uses this for sonic frontiers. I feel holding down the boost button kindq ruins the game for some. This version is also mostly 3d unlike 360 which has way too many 2d sections imo. Buy this game if you havent played

I love how much Sonic hoots n hollers, he's having a blast. I love these day stages. Even if they are somewhat of a straight line, there are paths for you to take, and require effort, UNLIKE FORCES.
I actually prefer act 1 of windmill isle in here than the 360 version. I love how it starts as act one for 360 but you actually end up speeding through the town.

This is the sonic unleashed i grew up with as a young kid, i didn’t play the HD version until my mid to late teens. While the HD version is obviously the superior game, this one has a soft spot for me.
The only thing that bothered me from the Day Stages, was Sonic going URRRRRAAAAHHH!! everysingle time you boosted. The Night stages were better than in the HD version, combat was more fun and simple.
Something i used to ask myself is: why was Sega ok with Sonic screaming like a maniac every time he boosted. Then i found out why. Simply put, it's an oversight. The original japanese version has Sonic shouting "AH!" every time he boosts, but in the english/international version that specific voiceclip was re-recorded by Jason Griffith where he instead shouts "RAH!".

When people say that the Werehog stages were what made this game suck, they're not wrong if they're talking about the 360/PS3 version, but the Wii/PS2's Werehog stages I liked better than the Day stages in that game (it's the other way around in 360/PS3). I first played the Wii/PS2 version when I was 8, but didn't play the 360/PS3 version until I was 18!
Honestly I prefer the ps3 version of unleashed but I do really like the wii version and the wii version also handle the sun and moon medals better in my opinion and drifting seems to be easier to control on the wii but if I try to drift in the ps3 version I end up falling off a cliff
Crimson Carnival Zone is missing... As are the extra bonus Acts unlocked after getting certain amounts of medals like the ones for Jungle Joyride and Dragon Road
While I am glad we can finally play Unleashed on Series X in 4k 60fps (let alone in HD at all) I wish the Wii version got the same treatment. What they could do is port the game to Switch and call it Sonic Unleashed Lite. (Even though it's still the best version)

I think the fun is just having more control of your character most of the time. Having the freedom to turn and try to keep all that speed feels pretty good. Looking back on this game, it's surprisingly open with pretty good level design. Managing your boost gauge even comes more into play in this game, using drift bonuses to replenish what you've spent. It may look barren at times but I think the less automation, QTE's, and rail grinding make's this version of the day stages superior in my opinion.

LoL agreed, I'm so glad they removed that in Generations and forces and hope that they continue to meet Sonic more realistic in the 2021 games.

I honestly think this version is better than the Xbox and ps versions
To be a Wii game it's tooo cool, more better than Sonic And The Black Knight in my opinion
Tbh this unleashed is much better for me
The og is great, but the unwiieshed is better for me
i remember really liking the PS2 version of this game back in the day. The werehog stages were kinda boring though, i would only play it to listen to the kickass sountrack and to unlock more day stages
I still got my Wii and this game.
