@Promise Ntsizi can everybody stop hating on forces please this is why sonicteam is afraid to make a good game with your impossible standards either get a grip and focus on something else or just get out
Loving the fact that when you’re using boost when the camera is right behind Sonic, there’s a distortion effect that makes close buildings look relatively far away. It makes you feel like you’re going fast, but you still have to put in some effort to get to where you’re going, and the blur makes it truly feel like you’re just blasting through these levels at Mach 1.
Day stages sure make you feel "unleashed." Some stages makes Sonic the God for running above the water. Funny how in Wii Sonic was grinding on water. That's BS if you ask me :P.
@Comic well, that was the good old days, but now we have, The PlaystationNow feature on ps4, wich makes me very happy cuz i can finally play unleashed at my moms house since my dad took away my ps3😀👌
@Just Squid The hub world is awesome in the HD version, cant agree with you with that "much more 3d based" though. And just because its shorter doesn't mean its worse. Quality over uhh... Lack of quantity?
If there's one thing I really love about sonic unleashed, it's the way his legs move when he boosts. Its almost like there's no end to how fast they actually get in game
Werehog aside, I still think this is the best 3D boost game for its worldly level concepts, gameplay length, and perfectly-toned story. Perhaps if the Werehog was replaced with Knuckles to fit the slower but combat heavy aspect for the night time stages as well as a good way to work him in with the plot, this game would’ve been a 100% for me.
I don't think knuckles fits the night stages at all be because of his brain being stupid and there are 99% combos that are impossible for knuckles to preformed and knuckles is terrible character it would ruined the story with him well I wouldn't mind knuckles if there's his voice is japanese.
Roger really pulled it off in the Sonic Boom Tv a lot more than the games. I feel like Jason does better in games and Roger does better in the tv show.
11 years passed, I finished this game on Wii 2 times and 3 on PS3. But now I need a port of this game on PC so bad. Still my favorite Sonic game, everything is perfect for me (yes, even the werehog)

Thanks for uploaing this and have a great day sir!
Not even NASA could run Adabat at a smooth 60 frames per second. This game had GREAT art design. I can remember when I got my Xbox 360 in 2009 and getting so excited for Sonic Unleashed after playing the PS2 port for almost a year before. I ended up trading the game in for some GameStop store credit a while back and ended up regretting it, much like my PS2 collection that I ditched when I got the 360. To the person up in Vermont that has a copy of Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal with a huge soup stain on the instruction manual, I kind of want that one back.
For all of the complaints people might have leveraged against Sega around the '06' era, no one could ever genuinely say that Sega and Sonic team were lazy when it came to sonic. All of their games, even the story-book games, were filled with this genuine charm and love for the series. The visuals were consistently breathtaking, the core mechanics were constantly getting interesting spins to put on them (see: heroes, the werehog, and, again, the storybook games), and Sonic was genuinely cool. He was this fun-loving guy who got shit done, but never let the seriousness of the situation threaten the freedom in his heart. Looking at this game, I'm reminded of just how utterly COOL Sonic was. His speed is insane; he's all over the place too, and most of all, he looks and sounds like he's having the time of his life. Even the werehog stages, as clunky and slow as they can feel, were absolutely not lazy. The level designs were packed with genuine challenges, between the platforming and beat em up sections, and the combo system was surprisingly diverse. It's a mechanic I'd be happy to see back for someone like knuckles, with a great deal more polish. Rambling aside, my point is that early 2000's sega was anything but lazy or without ambition. They tried new things constantly, and even if they failed, they didn't let that discourage them from trying to really experiment with Sonic and his mechanics. You don't see that much, today. Even Generations didn't really feel quite the same. It was too safe, and Sonic is all about taking risks and seeing where the chips may fall. I'm seriously hoping that with the success of the new movie, Sega might be emboldened to start trying new things again.
I hope this play style isn’t completely forgotten after forces failure... You know what? Forces gameplay was COMPLETELY different this. Yeah it had the boost but levels were short and you barely need to avoid anything. You just run in a straight line... Unleashed / Generations has the best gameplay in the entire series
From watching this video, they look the same on Xbox 360 and Xbox one. Maybe the Xbox one gives a certain amount of cpu usage and stuff like that to match the 360’s specs
Giving sonic a sense of speed and alternate paths while maintaining a good camera angle and great level design with fitting music for each level (take rooftop run for an example. It knows you like the level and gives you a warm welcome back to the level with great music to compliment it's speed and design) is such a step up from other games (Looking at you forces)
I never understood all the hate Unleashed got. Sure the Werehog levels felt tedious and the controls were wack, but imo, it was an interesting change of pace. Seriously, until Generations came out, I haven't had so much fun playing a Sonic game since Heroes.
I like Unleashed more than Generations because completing a level in the former feels more earned. It's a lot easier to screw up here. Unleashed has a lot more alternative paths than people realize. Obviously not as much or as open as Generations (Seaside Hill Modern needs a video essay) , but the short cuts are hidden well enough to make their discovery more satisfying imo. I will confidently say though that 2D sections in Unleashed are better than 2D modern sections in Generations. I'm sure every day stage in Unleashed gives you more opportunity to maintain your speed throughout the 2d sections.
What I love about this game is the day stages, they are, in my opinion, exactly how sonic is supposed to be, if all sonic games were the same format as the day stages, the series wouldn't have suffered as much. Even if the levels are sort of easyz it's about going fast and feeling like a super fast badass, that's sonics whole thing, not standing on platforms and shi
I bought this game in 2011 and I still have it to this day. Amazing soundtrack, graphics and gameplay. If Sega re-released Colors, they should’ve done the same with Unleashed.

Generations came close to Unleashed day stages, too bad half of Generations stages are way too 2D heavy. Unleashed had the perfect mix of 2D/3D, and unlike in the other games, the 2D sections here don't slow the pacing at all when played perfectly.
I'm one of the people that wanted a remaster of this and not Colors... People are so ignorant when it comes to a game's quality because thay don't take the time to get warmed up to the styles of gameplay, (The Werehog) thus they end up disliking the game as people get attached to a certain formula. (Sonic adventure for example) Of course, i'm pure enough to respect everyone's opinions, no matter how good nor bad they are. This is my favorite 3D Sonic game of all time since i've never been a fan of the Chao Gardens/team gameplay from Heroes. The humans in the hub worlds (Which are the perfect size BTW) completely blend in with the artstyle of Sonic's world, the environments are all diverse and beautiful, music and all. (Especially Shamar, which celebrates Middle eastern arab culture, which is very rare in kid friendly games!) And the gameplay is compelling, rewarding, and satisfying. It's so good, that it actually feels like YOU ARE Sonic. This is also the fastest game he's ever been playable. Like everyone else I thought the Werehog was a dumb concept for Sonic, (Like, why didn't they call him "Hedgewolf" or "Wolfhog?") but his gameplay was so freaking fun. It got me into games like Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta, and Devil may cry. I truly appreciate this game for being years ahead of it's time when it comes to graphics as well. Stages like Jungle Joyride day/Eggmanland lag so freaking much with textures popping in and out constantly, but that's because the stage uses the max potential of the X360/PS3's hardware. Even when played on Xbox series X, there's still slight stutters. But I don't mind at all. My only issue is the battle theme always interrupting the beautiful, atmospheric soundtrack, (Especially Jungle Joyride night) and I agree they should've added a toggle at the very least. Overall, this game is a masterpiece and you can't change my mind.

I don’t know why, but there’s something about sonic’s running animation that pleases my eyes.
i still cant believe they even made this type of gameplay work in a way thats rlly fucking fun and memorable. idc what ppl say this is peak modern sonic
I am in love with this game, I am super addicted, I also only have the commiment to S rank the main day stages (not the optional ones) Thanks for giving this great guide!
No problem! the optional ones are torture and not fun tbh

I've never hated it, I just wish the Werehog wasn't in it, it would've paved te way for so many incredible future games.

@Promise Ntsizi can everybody stop hating on forces please this is why sonicteam is afraid to make a good game with your impossible standards either get a grip and focus on something else or just get out
Loving the fact that when you’re using boost when the camera is right behind Sonic,
there’s a distortion effect that makes close buildings look relatively far away.
It makes you feel like you’re going fast, but you still have to put in some effort to get to where you’re going, and the blur makes it truly feel like you’re just blasting through these levels at Mach 1.
THATS SO COOL OH MY GOOOOSH I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCHHHHHH
Day stages sure make you feel "unleashed." Some stages makes Sonic the God for running above the water. Funny how in Wii Sonic was grinding on water. That's BS if you ask me :P.

The Wii and Ps2 versions sucked LMAO
@Comic well, that was the good old days, but now we have, The PlaystationNow feature on ps4, wich makes me very happy cuz i can finally play unleashed at my moms house since my dad took away my ps3😀👌
@Just Squid The hub world is awesome in the HD version, cant agree with you with that "much more 3d based" though. And just because its shorter doesn't mean its worse. Quality over uhh... Lack of quantity?
Sonic unleashed has by the the best looking and most fun levels that a Sonic game has ever offered

Its almost like there's no end to how fast they actually get in game

It tooked four titles for people learn to appreciate Unleashed nowdays.

Giving sonic a sense of speed and alternate paths while maintaining a good camera angle and great level design with fitting music for each level (take rooftop run for an example. It knows you like the level and gives you a warm welcome back to the level with great music to compliment it's speed and design) is such a step up from other games

its been 9 years since i bought this game and till this day i still love unleshed the most on 360
they should make an entire game that's just this
I like Unleashed more than Generations because completing a level in the former feels more earned.

Generations: I'm the best looking Sonic game
Unleashed gets ported to pc: I'm gonna ruin this games whole career
