I think this is signaling the IPS system kicking in. Jojo's has an infinite prevention system but it's really bad and doesn't work because all it does is make certain normals have launch properties so they'd theoretically drop out of loops. Like in Dio's case his 5C starts launching so it would knock the opponent out of the combo but you don't even really use that for big combos anyway. The system doesn't affect stand normals afaik so tandem loops are fair game edit: this is false, IPS actually kicks in as early as 8 hits.
