I'll admit, this was a hard habit for me to adopt. I'm already very very active with 20K steps per day, lifting weights, formal cardio, stretching, etc.. So after I have a meal, my instinct is to sit and relax. The last thing I want to do is add even more movement to the extreme amount that I already do. But 10-15 min walks right after meals helps a TON with digestion and staving off bloating. Especially with larger meals which is how I eat with intermittent fasting taking in only 2-3 meals per day over 6-8hrs. So now it is a daily staple and adds to my step count. 😂
Umbrella, big jacket, comfy warm gloves, non-slip shoes, warm beanie & 1 bluetooth earbud for music, comedy podcast, or audiobook! That’s how I do it on cold rainy days. Walking/playing with dog immediately after meals has made a big difference in my health.
I had my yearly physical recently, and my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic? what he didn't know is that a few weeks earlier I had way too many Halloween candies! which goes to show you doctors know nothing, nor the lab tests should be an indication of a definite diagnosis. The doctor's visit was a wake up call for me, thou. So I stopped cold the consumption of refined carbs, sugar cane based foods, and even regular honey. That being said I have not stopped eating complex carbs, such as whole grains based foods, brown rice instead of white rice, avoid fruit juices of any kind, but instead eat it raw!! organic raw honey instead of refined honey; but only once in a blue moon. I have organic chicken breast, turkey, white tuna, cod, and wild caught salmon as my protein source; also organic milk and or organic plain Greek yogurt. A variety of pressure cooked beans; I personally love black and lentil beans. I had also walk 3 to 5 miles a day at least 4 times a week; and my morning blood sugar had remained steady between 89 and 93 from the previous high nineties! I also like to add that blood morning sugar levels below 105 is still consider normal; not a sign of prediabetes!! diabetes as a whole is easily manageable, and can even be reversed!! all you have to do is be physically active. Walking in my personal opinion is the best treatment/medication for pre-diabetics or diabetics!! My advice to anyone with high blood glucose levels; EXERCISE EVERY DAY., WALKING IS THE BEST, EAT MORE WHOLE FOODS; AND THE OBVIOUS; STOP CONSUMING REFINED CARBS AND SUGARS!
I wouldn't say that doctors know nothing. Your doctor came to a different conclusion because he didn't know that you ate a lot of candies. Just understand that doctors cannot always be right.
Don’t . Walk outside if you can. If it’s bad weather just walk around the house. Either way is better since you save money that you would have spent on a tread mill
It's not good to walk after you eat diabetes or not... Wait, at least 2 hours before you walk. I tried this way I ended up vomiting. wait a little bit. As for diabetes the most important thing watch your carbs I'm controlling my diabetes just buy diet alone. Zero carb diet. Been going good for the past six years. Keep it under 50 g a day.
