That portal opening up out of nowhere was clearly a tacked on scene, I'm convinced that the original cut of the film was a lot darker than what we got but Disney just couldn't handle the thought of Ant-Man losing in his own movie so they changed it all up.

Why this mistake happens and will keep happening.
Writers think the powers are cool and what people want to see.
They make the characters too powerful.
Then the powers solve the problems.
This makes the character boring regardless of how powerful they are.
Then the characters just fail to use their powers - until - time for film to be over.
Superman is the ultimate example of this.

My first time watching, i thought Hope and Scott went back to their universe at the end, but that Kang's death somehow changed their history, hence they're actually in a parallel universe. Thats what i THOUGHT they were alluding to after Ruben made Scott pay, that one lady was carrying her dog in a stroller, and how "off" that ending felt. There really wasn't anything that'll affect the MCU going forward in this film other than setting up the Quantum Realm and that Cassie has a suit. - Hank being perfectly fine with giving a teenager a super suit knowing full well the dangers of it.
    - Cassie being an asshole to Scott about retiring from being a hero and choosing to simply live a peaceful life. Just because something isn’t world changing doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter.
    - Janet not mentioning ANYTHING about the QR and then wonders why nobody went to her about it.
    - Janet not wanting to mess with the QR despite them having Scott go in at the end of last movie.
    - Kang not just force stealing the core against Janet like he did again Scott.
    - Why didn’t Kang just keep firing his lasers at everyone? They erased people instantly.
    - Why the f### did everyone keep taking their helmets off at every possible moment? In a real battle scene you’d take your headgear off

I think I read somewhere that a lot of MCU actors have it in their contracts that you have to be able to see their face for a certain percentage of the movie. The storytelling argument is that it's easier to emote without a mask on, but I feel like the Spider-Verse movies managed to have several emotional moments with characters whose faces were covered, so that's BS.

    • @hersheysbar28
      @hersheysbar28 10 месяцев назад +4

@@kieranhair37 I mean, you're right, but my point wasn't that it wasn't possible, just that it was easier in an animated medium - to say nothing of the fact that it would indeed be harder to pull off with Ant-Man than Deadpool or any of the spider people due to ow his helmet lacks any actual eyeholes. Even Chris Evans has gone on record saying that he had to exaggerate his expressions in order to properly convey them through his mask, and his didn't obscure nearly as much of his face as Ant-Man's does.
Bear in mind that your original reply claimed that it was 'BS' that it was easier to emote without a mask on, then compared this film to an animated movie that was a fair bit more advantaged in your department. No one ever said that you couldn't emote at all with a mask on, and that wasn't the claim you addressed. The claim you addressed actually still holds up.

Thank you. This is the fundamental basis for the whole movie, and it makes no sense to me. I'mma copy and paste what I said elsewhere here for visibility:
This whole thing takes place on a world found between the components of a single atom, right. But then how is it the exact same atom that Janet was stranded on? Even if you find the same spec of dust she was on, there's still hundreds of millions of atoms there to choose from. And how did Darren get shrunk onto the same atom, too?
Apologists might say, "Well, it's not really happening on one atom, but when you go quantum it opens a gateway into another world, and there's only one quantum realm regardless of which atom you enter at". Okay. They didn't explain that in the movie, but that's fine, I'll accept your retconned answer. But then it's still a question of scale, right? They shrunk super down to get here, but how did they stop shrinking at the same size that Janet was before? How did they not just blow right past the right scale, or not go far enough, crushing her quantum realm under their microscopic-but-not-microscopic-enough feet? And how did the ants just happen to land on the same relative scale? Like, once you go quantum does the quantum loop around on itself and if you go quantum in the quantum you'd end up back in the same quantum realm? The move doesn't explain this either.
Also, since they're all just really small, doesn't that mean all the embiggining is just them being a little less small? But they're still microscopic, so why would embiggining on this scale have the same strange effects that embiggining on Earth scale? Wouldn't it make more sense that being this small would have some kind of strange effects and embiggining on this scale would lessen those effects? But, no. Limes.

The original script ending DID have them trapped and would've made the movie infinitely better, as well as making the 'we both have to lose' line MEAN something. The Blip single-handedly put the MCU on a storytelling bind that to THIS day struggles to untangle itself from. On a parallel universe, Phase 4 is about the after-effects of Thanos succeeding in Infinity War with no Endgame sequel to undo the damage, and thus creating better storylines without so many potential plotholes.

    • @kieranhair37

In the initial phases, directors were always told what they could or couldn't do based on Marvel's future plans for certain characters. Now, it seems like directors disregard past and future movies with no issue, causing future directors and writers to either disregard those plans and create plot holes or else reconceptualize their script to adjust. Basically, it seems like Marvel is operating without a plan at this point. They're greenlighting titles without actually considering the stories attached to them.

    • @summertyme5748

The filmmakers at this point don't grasp the scientific implications of their own concepts - at all. The Quantum Realm is so small - it's *not* small. lol.
      It's another dimension.
There is an actual theory in physics that Universes are sub atomic particles within Universes.
So our Universe is 'sub atomic' with respect to another Universe and so on.
You have to grasp the concept of another dimension - not just big and small which are relative references to our space/time.
This is the only way for the Quantum Realm to make sense.
Too hard for writers of this film. So they need to go away and get a real Sci Fi writer.

Requires respect for continuity. And Rick and Morty writers have made it their mission to shix all over continuity in the MCU. [Examples? Janet Van Dyne hangs around with Space Hitler - comes back and tells no one. Claims she told them to stay away - but in fact she is the one who SENT SCOTT into the Quantum Realm in the 1st place - thus trapping him there. Cassie claims she became a physicist to save Scott...uhm, no sorry, Scott was thought by everyone to be snapped - Cassie had NO IDEA that he was trapped in the Quantum Realm. Kang? He is from the 30th century and has tech far beyond 21st century per the film - but - he can't do shix without Hank Pym's 1970 tech ??? Also he is supposedly imprisoned in the Quantum Realm, but *with his time chair* - and which - he for some reason can't fix - and NEEDS JANET VAN DYNE TO HELP HIM???? On and on and on.....]
