I almost cried at the moment where all of the possible Scotts started helping our main Scott after hearing Cassie’s voice, because her safety is his top priority in every possibility.
There's a story online about a sailor for the US navy watching a tired commander waddle into the dining room, get upset over the sunlight in his eyes, and instead of moving to a different chair he called the bridge and ordered the ten thousand ton ship to turn a few degrees in the water. Point is: Never underestimate laziness.
I mean, all things considered that was a pretty minor size increase, so it likely didn't take many particles. It's also not exactly clear that Pyn particles cost that much. They're just "rare" because Hank is the only person who knows how to produce them
The probability storm scene solidified Scott as the best MCU dad for me. Granted, he doesn't have a whole lot of competition, but still; It isn't until the other Scotts realize Cassie is in danger that they all decide to work together. Proving that no matter what outcome, reality, or probability, Scott will always care for and prioritize Cassie over anything else! What a great dad!
Scott Lang/Ant Man is probably the best bio dad in MCU along with Clint Barton/Hawkeye MCU also has pretty good adopted dads representation (not Thanos)- Yondu, Thor, Odin adopting Loki, Bill Foster, Red Guardian, Happy Hogan, etc.
I love the fact that this channel keeps doing positive videos about movie that are not really liked by everyone, it's really refreshing to see some good vibe concept that allows lesser things to get some love too Actually I'd really love an "Everything Great About" on some truly bad movies like Morbius or something like that, showing that there is things to love in everythings
My favorite was everything great about sucker punch. Movie was almost universally panned as a nothing movie, but EGA made me look at it in a different light. Actually gave me a newfound respect for it
The positivity from this channel is so refreshing. I’ve dropped a lot of film essayist on RUclips because a lot of their content came to be directly negative or going out of their way to be negative to big blockbusters. When I was in high school, my theatre teacher taught me to find the positives first and work back from there. I’ve found that this mindset has kept me from being jaded and more open to the hard work that goes into any movie/production.
He did everything great on the last Jedi and he got it. Not many people realise how underrated it truly is. It’s a great Star Wars film just misunderstood.
One detail I will forever love about this trilogy is that the names of the movies only add letters at the end. Ant-Man Ant-Man and the Wasp Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania I can't wait for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumanian Warfare
Yeah that detail is awesome too, but I didn't need to point that out since the movie itself pointed it out. Now we're obligated to pronounce it as Qw-Ant-Uhm-Man-Nia.
I do respect how Hank didn't hold against his wife being with other people while they were separated, even admitting to dating someone else around the same time.
I mean… if your spouse survived shrinking between the molecules and you didn’t know which caused you to accept that they were gone, would you hold it against them to fulfill their needs?
Same with Hank Marlow in Kong: Skull Island. He was stuck on the island for 30 years and straight up admitted that he wouldn't be upset if his wife had moved on with someone else.
The best part of the movie was undoubtedly the family relationships. Like that scene at the dinner table? With all the ant and wasp family members? There was some calling each other out, but nobody tried to shift responsibilities or yell at each other to switch the blame, instead they approached responsibly and accepted it. In a world running on the rule of drama small things like that are super valuable.
Well, that's the beautiful thing about Kang in the comics. He is defeated a lot. In fact, it's almost comedic how often he loses. The scary thing is that he's not defined by his failure, and he can keep coming back stronger and stronger," Loveness argued. "It's not like you can just blow up the mothership, just beat him once and you're done. He is almost an existential threat, and the more you fight him the worse he's going to get."
I actually liked Darren MODOK too. It was weird and stupid but in a good way. It would only work in an Ant-Man movie. Also whoever MODOK is this proves he would look weird and hard to take seriously as an important villain. So either you never bring MODOK into the MCU, or you have it be a one off in a weird movie like this. Like I said, it would only work in a movie like this. Then you just add that MODOK is Darren as a fun/funny reprise and give the heroes a personal connection. As well as inventing a “plausible” explanation for why he looks that way and also answers what happened to Darren after he got shrunk. Honestly if you think about it it’s a genius move. It’s too bad not many people saw it that way.
MODOK was actually one of my favorite parts in the movie! I love how uncanny-valley he looks and I especially love the mask he has to make him look like comic MODOK. He was so threatening and funny, i really loved the character and how he was concieved. And you're absolutely right, his character just can never truly be taken seriously in the MCU, so why not have him in such a role? Though I could see a way they could have made him work. That said, I despite what Cinemawins says, I still hate how it ends with MODOK. I'm sorry, but that heel face turn just ruined the character for me and don't get me started on that death speech! That was so hard to listen to. I honestly wanted him to stay alive, somehow escape the Quantum realm and start up AIM. He would have been the goofiest villain to have around the MCU.
Finally someone gets it, for a giant floating head with baby legs and arms I thought the MCU did a good job. Only thing I would have changed would have been to make him more menacing and less comedic.
@@TheDarknashHow good can you make a giant face with tiny limbs look in a live-action/CGI movie? He looks about as close to the comics as possible without going even further into the uncanny valley.
I feel like Matpat was right; if Scott and Janet were trapped in the quantum realm, it would have added a lot more emotional weight and would have created a potential plot point for the Young Avengers film
I agree, felt like a weird twist ending. But I do think it's probably cause they already have plans for their big team up movies. So the next probably already had scot in the beginning and they didn't want to spend time trying to figure out how to get him from the realm
I wonder if they don't want to commit to hiring Lilly back. I obviously don't know this for sure, but rumor has it Disney's mad at her for being kind of a wingnut.
I love the scene where Hank just walks in leading the giant ants. Michael Douglas is channeling his father like this was one of Kirk Douglas's best western movies.
With the probability storm where Scott and Hope's probabilities merge into one Scott and one Hope; remember that MODOK mentioned Shrodinger's box. There were a bunch of different probabilities, but once Scott and Hope observed each other, there became only one probability, so they all merged into that probability.
Here's a list of suggestions to consider for future EGA videos: -Night at the Museum -The Little Mermaid (It's the film that kicked off the Disney Renaissance & I've also heard good things about its' remake) -Dora and the Lost City of Gold -Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 Film/Ahsoka Tano is getting her own Disney+ series later this year, so why not an EGA video on the film that introduced her?) -The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Extended Edition/You've already done LOTR, so why not some EGA videos on The Hobbit trilogy?) -The Rugrats Movie -Ms. Marvel (Disney+ Series/While I would've liked a series of EGA videos on Loki, I do agree with you that it might take a while. However, I feel like a series of EGA videos on Ms. Marvel could be more manageable? Plus it might be relevant to cover the series for the release of The Marvels later this year?) -The Croods -The Lost World: Jurassic Park (You've already done an EGA video on JP, which is celebrating it's 30th anniversary, so why not move on to its' sequel?) -The Bob's Burgers Movie
I was fine with Modok when the mask was on. Every time it was off it was just a forced cringe joke. Like making fun of his tiny feet and the whole "at least I was an avenger" or how he called Scott his best friend. Just 🤮 but when his mask was on and Modok actually fought it was great.
I'm really glad someone else had something nice to say about this movie. I really enjoyed it and thought it was fun, but then EVERYONE said it was bad or "THE MCU IS DEAD"(For the 7th time), and I felt like the odd one out. So thanks for doing this
I know you said a EGA of the Loki series would be long BUT it would be really cool and even useful, since the new season is coming out this October and some of the events in the show connect and cause the effects in the movies you already covered. I mean you did one for WandaVision, so if you ever needed to do another one for the MCU it should be Loki.
I had fun with this one. My main issue was that I was missing some of what I enjoyed a lot about 1 and 2 (which are my MCU comfort movies) which was how they portrayed the Ant-Man powers. To me in 1 and 2 I felt like I was along the ride, flying with the ants, driving in a tiny car. We shrunk with him and they got creative with the cameras. In Quantumania I felt more like an outside observer. That thing Cassie sais "No I couldn't see it, you were THAT small" kinda sums that up for me. So I was a bit disappointed about that, especially after the entry into the Quantumrealm was done in a cool way, seeing him shrink without a suit for once.
Yeah, I thought this was a decent MCU movie but not a great Ant-man movie. I missed the side characters more than I thought I would, it lost some heart compared to AMatW.
Johnathan Majors' performance as Kang is rightfully praised, but what about Michelle Phifer? For such a one-dimensional character, she sells the intrinsic urgency of her present situation.
I feel like Pfeiffer doesn't get the respect she deserves because she's so darn pretty. I think she's a tad of an overactor myself, but I've never had a bad time watching her performances.
@@jimballard1186 Facts. Her acting been underrated her whole career because she's just too hot. I guess it rubs people the wrong way and they be like "Nah you can't be both this hot and a great actress". They should watch The Age of Innocence. Michelle acting circles around Daniel Day-Lewis in that film.
yeah but she was given such awful awful lines in this film that i just dont think she could've made it work. i really liked her scenes with kang! but thats about it lol
I feel like this movies get over-hated just for the sake of being hated. For me, it was a good, fun, entertaining movie. And seeing someone not just bash on the movie for no practical reason is a good change of pace
If I may offer a bit of a balanced perspective: It's too generic. We know nothing about Kang, his government, or what he's done, we just know he's some generic evil man who's taken over. We know nothing about the resistance, or even the person who leads them, they're just some boring freedom fighters, we don't even know what they stand for other than "kang bad". Janet shows a complete lack of trust in her family by never mentioning the Quantum realm, then the film tries to show her, and Hank, as a completely solid relationship. The storyline is predictable, trying to make MODOK sympathetic was an eye-roller, and there's a severe lack of actual characters. Sure, there's plenty of people, but we never learn anything about them. I enjoyed Quantomania a lot, and while I personally enjoyed it (I burst out laughing at MODOK's reveal), I can see why a lot of people have a problem with it. It's very surface-level. You're right about it being over-hated, definitely, but there are still a LOT of valid criticisms of the film imo
The way I read Scott and Hope coalescing in the probability storm is that before they're together it's all about escaping and all the ways they can. Once they meet up their only thought is getting back to Cassie.
Re: The probability storm resolving when Scott & Hope touch. Because there's now two of them interacting with each other, there is observation taking place. The wave function collapses, and Schroedinger's Cat is now definitively alive.
Kang’s energy beam attacks are way scarier than death rays in just about any other media I’ve seen. It’s one thing to be blasted and suddenly explode or have a giant hole in your chest, but this doesn’t even do that. One well-placed blast and you’re just GONE. INSTANTLY.
His energy beam attacks weren’t even consistent in the movie, one minute it completely deletes a person he shoots it at, the next minute he shoots it at ant man and it doesn’t do anything but push him back a little
I also loved that Hank was like, "Honey, I'm not worried about time we spent apart. We're back together now and I love you." Im glad MCU Hank Pym is..... actually a good man.
I can’t believe some people had a problem with the post credit scenes. Your multiversal variants will probably look sometimes goofy and weird. Not that the Kangs did. I’m excited for Rama-Tut because I wanna see him cameo in Moonknight
Fr, it is fun and hilarious and has a pretty good message. I feel like it's another example of previous movies being so good that they have impossibly high expectations and when the movie doesn't meet them everyone treats it like a terrible mockbuster or something
People hate it because it encourages bad morals with cheating spouses bleating about their "needs" as a pathetic excuse for violating a marriage. Then there's the character of Cassie, who attains all of Ant Man's skills and experience in approximately five seconds. Also characters who rant about how many holes they have is cringe, pathetic sex-obsessed trash. You just don't CARE why some people dislike it, which is why you don't understand the hate.
@thepubknight6144 It. What's it? I mentioned three distinct things. Are you talking about cheating and whoring? If so, please quote me where I said we should pretend that it doesn't happen in real life. I'll just wait for that quote. Cheers.
One of my favorite moments was after Scott drank the ooze and could suddenly understand everyone in the crowd. According to the closed captions, someone said, "Finally, now we can be friends!" and my heart grew three sizes.
Missed that a lot of stuff in the final scene, where Scott and the fam are at the restaurant, is green and purple. Like, its so blatantly shoving the colors in your face. Such a cool subversion and leaves you so uneasy about the future
12:30 - when they grabbed each other and asked "are you real?" They were essentially collapsing the probability storm down to only one possibility. This is due to the fact that both Ant-Man and Wasp are acting as observers for each other and thus collapse their quantum superposition down to one probable certainty.
I know people have an issue with Kang getting punked by an army of ants but it's probably the most realistic thing in this movie. Some ant species can swarm and take down larger opponents and these ants had the numbers game in spades. As powerful as Banished Kang was, he wasn't going to stop a living biomass that size and he honestly wasn't the actual Conquerer at the peak of his power. He didn't get far enough but know who did? He Who Remains. He was THE Conqueror in the Sacred Timeline. Banished Kang knew it. The Council of Kangs knew it. He killed them all and conquered it all. This movie helped me appreciate He Who Remains a lot more in this particular context because he was peak power and had no one to oppose him prior to Loki and Sylvie. He was able to relax on his laurels to an extent. As for Majors, if they decide to drop him, recasting wouldn't be nearly as contentious as Chad Boseman. Majors isn't as fully established as Kang yet and the nature of the Multiverse means they can have someone else step in to be the version of the Conquerer that is coming in Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. If NWH could do it with three versions of Peter Parker that look different, they can do with Kang. Best case scenario is Majors is cleared but right now, I'm keeping all avenues open and I'm not going to call him guilty before the courts decide. Unlike SOME people.
I didn't really think Modok looked that bad, and I liked the character, anybody who's actually read comic books, or seen any of the cartoons would know that this was never not gonna look stupid in some capacity
Scott’s book is actually something you can preorder now. It’ll hit shelves early September. My favorite funny moments were Scott’s audiobook, Quaz’s powers, “M.O.D.O.F.K.”, Veb running with the pack, and the Quantumnaut with the bridge code. Three things in particular that I liked about this film: 1.) Scott and Hope now have portable suits. 2.) No matter the situation, Scott’s driving force is his daughter Cassie. All of the possible Ant-Men including Baskin Robbins Scott formed an ant hill to help OG Scott fulfill his goal. 3.) The final fight between Scott/Ant-Man vs. Nathaniel/Kang gave us an idea of how dangerous one Kang can be. Now imagine a multitude… They didn’t say her codename, but Cassie in her suit is known as Stature. I feel like the citrus scene is a callback to Scott needing orange slices after getting a double whammer from Iron Man and War Machine. Parts of this movie gave me Star Wars, Guardians, TRON: Legacy, and Avatar vibes all at once. What I’m about to say is a rumor. I’d take it with a grain of salt, but in the event that they end up making a second season of Moon Knight they’ll consider making Rama-Tut the next main villain. As for the second post-credit scene, I don’t know if Victor Timely is a member of the council and I definitely don’t know if Mobius regained his memories or not, but for now I’ll take comfort knowing he and Loki are working together again. The adventure continues in Loki season 2, and you’ll be glad to know Marvel Studios finally unveiled that it’ll arrive for Friday, October 6. They also announced that Maya Lopez’ solo series Echo will premiere on Wednesday, November 29. All episodes are expected to drop that day. In the meantime, mark your calendar for Nick Fury’s solo series Secret Invasion. It’ll premiere on Wednesday, June 21st.
@@Will-fl3hj it’s not that, it’s the constant reminding of the next things that are releasing and when/how they are available. The whole thing just reads like an ad
A little factor I’m not sure is intentional but kang pretends not to know scott with the “are you the guy with the hammer” line as an intimidation factor but then goes to proving he knows exactly who scott is, “the guy who talks to ants” when all pretences are up and he’s just venting
One thing I did love about Kang is the implication he reached the exact same conclusion as He Who Remains. Which says far about the Council of Kangs at the end, given both the best and worst possible versions of him both reached the conclusion of "Oh god, I need to stop them"
I liked this movie for the side quest feel it had. Even though it featured the next big bad of the MCU I felt that it seemed more inconsequential than other Marvel movies of late, and I really liked that. I don't know why I felt that because it's still about saving the multiverse just like Multiverse Of Madness, No Way Home, and Love And Thunder, but something about it just seemed like it wasn't a movie that had much impact on the universe. Maybe I'm just weird.
There were 2 things that I liked about this movie: 1). Jonathan Majors and his performance as Kang is 10/10. 2; Katy O’ Brian as Jentorra and how attractive and muscular she was
Y'know, I watched this in theaters the day it came out up here in Canada and I have to say, so many people are nitpicking this movie for things that are actually explained either in the previous movies, or in THIS movie. All that to say, great Wins video Lee. I don't even need to watch it to know you've definitely got a banger here.
There's a lot to like about this movie. I LOVED the weird character designs so much and I appreciate that they weren't afraid to go that weird and otherworldly. I thought MODOK was hilarious and that's really the only way you could introduce him into the MCU. It's a way better movie than it gets credit for.
You're not alone, man. I really liked MODOK and was happy he was included in this film. I do wish they would've played his sacrifice off as a bit more serious and less comedic, but I enjoyed it regardless.
Once again, thank you for doing these videos. This one really stresses how important it is to go into a film with an open mind and that often times it’s better to not watch trailers to avoid messing with expectations and running into spoilers. I did both not watch trailers and went in with no expectations and that’s probably why I love this film. Kang is great, as is Scott as always, the film was one hell of a start to the phase and as Kang’s first film. Cassie was the biggest surprise and I’m now really curious what she will do next going forward. Darren as MODOK worked to me since it acted as a good redemption for a character I hated in the original Ant-Man. I really don’t have any major complaints with the film that aren’t “this isn’t as good as Phase 3.” Keep up the great work, it is a great thing that channels like this exist.
I had a lot of fun with this movie, the whole cast really sold it for me. Not sure what's going to happen with Majors - very much depending on how real life things go with him - but he was absolutely scene stealing in both this and Loki.
Out of all the channels I’ve subscribed, CW still remains the BEST. Not a scab (Union man!) Doesn’t ignore Majors irl issues but doesn’t pre condemn either Equally informative and entertaining Perspective is right on - MCU spoils us. These are beautiful movies, great costumes, great casting, lots of good dialogue and action that we take for granted bc there’s 50 linked movies and tv shows…
I loved so much of this movie! It could’ve been better but the stuff I loved I loved. Jonathan Major’s portrayal as Kang and his many variants was perfect. I especially loved his cool stormtrooper type soldiers. I hope Jonathan Majors gets to stay as Kang going forward despite what’s happened. Also I loved M.O.D.O.K. I’m sad that he died in this movie but I hope we get to see more of him in the future. All in all solid movie for me. I’m glad to find someone else who likes the movie too.
I always thought Hank never seeing all the crazy stuff inside the quantum realm was because he'd only just scratched the surface of what's inside, it's a lot crazier and often scarier when you look deeper. Like the ocean.
Thank you so much for making this. I actually loved this movie when I watched it and was so disappointed to realize that people didn't agree with me. I was laughing the whole way through and I had a fantastic time. This channel highlights what makes these movies fun and exciting which is all we should pay attention to most of the time anyway. I love it here.
In case you didn't know, they're actually releasing Scott Lang's book in real life. Can't wait lol Also, shout out to you for recognizing Chidi! One of my favorite moments in the movie. I didn't hate MODOK or how he looked. Like, it's MODOK. He looks like MODOK. I did hate the twist of him being Darren Cross though.
13:56 Note, a Class 2 civilization (based on the Kardashev Scale) is a civilization much higher and more powerful than ours. - Class 1 civilization is able to harness the energy of their home planet - Class 2 civilization is able to harness the energy of their home star - Class 3 civilization is able to harness the energy of their home galaxy The modern humans of today is currently between Class 0.7 to 0.8 civilization, iirc we're around 0.72
I get the feeling tht the original intended ending was supposed to be that Scott and Hope were trapped in the quantum realm, then boom end of movie. Watching it in theaters, it seemed like the part after that where they go back home was added hastily at the end of production.
i love this channel so much. your videos are always so unabashedly full of love, even for films where you don't necessarily love them yourself. you're so great at showing what makes movies as a concept great, and what makes each individual movie so unique. i learn a lot from these videos, not just about loving movies, but also about loving life. thank you.
I’ve been seeing people dislike this move but I love it (not because I love Ant-Man) but I like it, I like it when he uses his powers more like growing he does it more in this film then than the last
I distinctly remember enjoying Quantumania more than even Across the Spider-Verse. This movie is easily one of my favourites ever. It might even be my number 1 favourite to be released in 2023, top 3 at worst The introduction and portrayal of Kang was definitely the best part of the movie for me. I've seen a lot of people criticise him "losing to ants", but Hank Pym's explanation about them was right there and no one seems to acknowledge it. At the very least, I don't ignore the scenes of him destroying planets and timelines or claiming to kill many Avengers, including Thor The mid-credit scene is what solidifies it for me. Seeing that the threat of Kang has only gotten worse with his countless variants gathering to deal with the heroes of the Sacred Timeline just gives us a glimpse into what is in store for Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars MODOK was a bit goofy, I didn't care for Krylar, and I think this movie should have been released after Loki Season 2. But those are just minor gripes that don't significantly affect my love for this movie It's a pity that Jonathan Majors has gotten himself into so many legal issues of late. I hope whatever is happening gets finalised quickly.
I definitely enjoyed this film. I think Kang not only proved himself to be a formidable and intelligent adversary, but he is shown to be persistent due to the fact that there are multiple variations of him throughout the multiverse. This film not only continues to expose the Marvel multiverse to the MCU, but it is an important point in the multiverse saga that the MCU is trying to tell. The Kang in this film was so dangerous that he had to be banished to the quantum realm by the dynasty of Kangs. Antman and Wasp defeating that Kang, ultimately led to the dynasty of the Kangs to take notice, and now get ready to intervene. Kang will definitely become a threat to the heroes of the MCU, and not just one version.
I still think - hopefully Majors gets clear slate trough legal discourse - Kang can be very, very multidimensional character, not only because there can be many forms of him, but that his motivations are very hidden at the moment. He is sociopath, but he is driven by something we don't know, and with him, we don't have good pre-knowledge. He seems to be quite vengeful. They can also have remorseful and reformed version of him who might reflect to choices in his life why he becomes this murderous time traveler. I am not that keen to keep watching MCU, but I would love to see where Kang's story leads to.
@@Pecisk I hope what you mean is "Majors didn't do it, and its discovered" not "Majors get cleared through some technicality". I fell in love with him as an actor and i just pray he doesn't turn out to be a spouse abusing piece of shit.
15:50 I admit I didn't care for this film, cool visuals aside, but THIS was amazing. Scott going full kaiju mode while screaming "WHEEEREEE'S MY DAAUUGGHHHTTERR?!?!" gave me goosebumps. And Kang actually looks worried! It's true: beware the anger of a gentle man. OK, also Hope's adorable pixie cut really should have gotten a "win."
I think 12:27 was more that regardless of the universe or timeline, they'll always choose to go to/help each other! Love conquers all, even probability storms.
Micheal Douglas is the low-key MVP of the Ant-Man films, and I'm always pleasantly surprised how game he is for all of this given what a SeRiOuS aCtOr he seemed to be when I was growing up. I can sympathize to a point with MODOK fans who wanted to see a version truer to the comics origin, but the fact they made a wonderfully-stupid-in-the-way-only-comics-can-be concept like that work in any capacity on the big screen is an achievement in and of itself (besides, we all know the loudest dissenting voices aren't hardcore MODOK stans but in fact CGI luddites and anti-Marvel 30-year-old boys) Finally, I'm still agog they actually brought in Rama-goddamned-Tut and I'm very excited to see where they take it.
14:45 - Quick look up of Katy O'Brian also shows that she has done lots of cool stuff before even beginning to get into acting, and seems to never miss an opportunity to do volunteer work, so cool actor win.
Oddly enough Ant Man 3 is my favorite one out of the Ant Man series. It feels like the first one that legit pushes the MCU forward & not just a standalone movie
I’m a manager at a movie theater, and from the first moment I heard “Welcome Back”, I was immediately transported back to childhood watching Nick at Nite. Thank you for bringing up how you felt the same way. It’s nice to know others felt the same.
Love the way you addressed the Jonathan Majors’ accusations. Honest and genuine on what you felt about the accusations themselves, yet fair in your opinions by not condemning him until we get solid evidence/a verdict. Bravo man
Cringing at Antman for being cheesy feel silly because Scott has always been cheesy? He's not Tony or Steve, he's just a dad who happens to be a superhero? Hank, Janet and Hope are more of the superhero type so Scott and Cassie can get away with not sounding cool
You should have given 2 wins for how Loki and Mobius are together in the stinger, because it means that, unlike Wanda, his arc in his show stuck, and now he's a proper hero. It also means he took the effort to seek out and reunite with his version of Mobius, who he now works with, meaning he's found a true friend and partner.
Went into this movie with no expectations, and it was super fun doing that. Would LOVE to see either (or both but I am not even close to greedy, just wanted to give you more than one choice for my personal request) Little Miss Sunshine or The Full Monty Forget everything you know or heard and watch them with a clean slate focused on mainly the wonderful acting and relationships between the characters… both with make you smile, laugh and cry. Put aside the odd sexual overtones, they’re incidental, the soundtracks and scripts are phenomenal and ALL the acting is spot on. Low budget independents and made good money based just on the feelings they create. Thanks!!!
14:02 I never noticed before because Hank got cut off, but it sounded like he referred to the ants as "people" showing he respects their sapience and considers them equals.
@@barisbal7782 I wouldn't really recommend him, his videos "debunking" CinemaSins are good, but that's kinda it, and even there he's very biased over external knowledge he has of certain stuff and uses that to dunk on CinemaSins which feels like a real cheap shot
@@Emiturbinaobviously if i would agree with that, i wouldnt recommend him. also if paying attention or doing research goes as ''cheap shot'' to dunk an argument, by that extend cinemasins is the last person you should defend. he isnt even bother to do that much
@@barisbal7782 I'm not defending CinemaSins, please don't insult me like that, what I'm saying is that it's kind of dumb to source comics as to why something in the movies makes sense, because that's saying that characters like Drax are the same in both forms of media which they are really not at all
If they were going to use M.O.D.O.K. in live action, this was pretty prefect. He's a character rooted in comic that he's almost impossible to make live action. I loved him as well.
9:10 Well actually in the comics there's something even smaller than the Microverse called Underspace which the Quantum Realm is a stand in for so Pym Particles can get even smaller.
Two things unrealized by most Marvel fans that make this movie good. 1. Victor Timely Kang and the real Timely Comics aka Stan Lee's first Job. 2. When Ant man comes back the color scheme of his welcome back montage goes from blue to purple and green, Kang's colors implying that Not so Good Kang was right and the Evil Kangs have already taken over.
I like how all the marvel movies and shows are loki, spiderman, Avengers, Dr Strange, and Wanda Vision. All aligned with eather the multiverse or quantum realm. The ending of loki was meeting Kang. How spiderman no way home showed how it was the cause of if the multiverse madness
I absolutely LOVED bringing Darren back as MODOK. It was so clever and creative and I like how they intentionally ramped up the uncanny valley for all it was worth
I refused to disbelieve that the quantum realm monster-animal that ate the not-sun monster & got killed by the woefully-nameless cannon-head guy isn't Pilai, the extraterrestrial entity that killed Janet's father in the comics & led to her becoming the Wasp. Whether that specific creature is Pilai or just the entire species, I don't care, but either way, it is Pilai. Also, when Quaz (the telepath guy) said that Scott has 7 holes, I stopped & counted for myself. Only once I finished & tuned back into the movie did I realize that Scott was counting, too. He said "Yeah, that's right" right after I started paying attention again. (Oh, also, I recently watched a movie called "John Carter (of Mars)", & I kept thinking how it would be a perfect fit for this channel. It's a sci-fi movie that does a lot of things really well, but isn't really know at all. Any chance we could get an Everything Great About John Carter? Or an E.G.A. Arrival?)
Honestly I still don't see the criticisms of this movie, I genuinely love it. It's like you said, I'm not coming in to this movie looking for the peak of dramatic fiction, I'm looking for cool stuff and campy pulp sci fi action. Similar to Love and Thunder really, like that movie is just a saturday morning cartoon and I'm happy to see it! Accepting what you're getting into is half the battle in this crop of MCU movies
Your endless positivity is refreshing. I also went in not having watched trailers or having read any reviews, just having gotten a little word of mouth ("it's a marvel/popcorn movie, nice fluff but not a masterpiece). And I did like it when I watched it before being gaslighted about how irredeemably awful it was. Edit: Also, Puss in Boots: the Last Wish when?
Paul Rudd is so charismatic as Ant Man / Scott Lang, I wish he would have written the script. Also, thank you for addressing 11:24, yeah we know him as a hero but, for Kang this is another trip to the same outcome.
"Oh, everyone hated it? I'm alone in this? I don't care, it is awesome!" God fuckin' hell, I love this guy so much. :D :D :D Please, tell me you feel how much we fuckin' love you! :D :D :D
I didn't hate it, but I was disappointed the CGI didn't let a good actor give an actual performance. Just saying it could have been better, not that it was terrible.
12:28 actually, when my sister and I watched this, she said something really interesting- “oh, because she saves him in every probability,” and I think that’s totally right! They all converge there because every possibility of Hope saves Scott!
I'm not a fan of the comics and therefore only know MCU content but the thing I loved most about this movie is that until the end I couldn't figure out which Kang he is. Were they fighting the "good" Kang, who'll end up becoming he who remains, or is he like one of those evil Kangs who waged war on the multivers?
I used to dislike this iteration of modok thanks to the media, but: 1.- Darren is amazing 2.- The MCU is another timeline, so it doesn't have to be like the OG 3.- The OG modok "exist" somewhere in the MCU with the OG shuma-gorath
Honestly, my biggest problem with this movie was the nanotech. I hated how everyone's helmets go away the moment they actually have any lines. Like, what is the point of Kang having a helmet that is mostly just a color filter over his face and you still have it disappear the moment he has anything to say other than "RAAAAAH".
so in quantum mechanics, multiple probability waves could interfere and cancel each other's probability out, that's probably why when the Wasp joined with Antman in the probability storm, other versions of themselves disappeared, it's a "when the two of them are together there is only one possible course of action" type thing, and its probably the only part this film has got remotely accurate of quantum mechanics, and its probably not even intended by the writers, and I probably used way to many probably in this text XD
I like to think the reason they survived the probability storm was because the only choice they would ever make was to trust eachother
I found the moment when the Ant Mans all start working together to be much better, and am shocked it didn't get a win.
I almost cried at the moment where all of the possible Scotts started helping our main Scott after hearing Cassie’s voice, because her safety is his top priority in every possibility.
@@qq1933 There's not a single Scott who would ignore Cassie needing help.
I think the storm needed some floating cats. 🙂
Wasp scene was cut out, think in the Storm she shown, another life without Scott & has kids. Think a few scenes with wasp was removed
I love how Hank used multi million dollar tech to save $8 on a Pizza
Hey, he invented it.
Its like how some people would rather spend $5 and 7 days of DIY work than pay $15 just to have the item handy and ready to go.
I mean, all things considered that was a pretty minor size increase, so it likely didn't take many particles. It's also not exactly clear that Pyn particles cost that much. They're just "rare" because Hank is the only person who knows how to produce them
He his truly a Grandpa
The probability storm scene solidified Scott as the best MCU dad for me. Granted, he doesn't have a whole lot of competition, but still; It isn't until the other Scotts realize Cassie is in danger that they all decide to work together. Proving that no matter what outcome, reality, or probability, Scott will always care for and prioritize Cassie over anything else! What a great dad!
that part was genuinely such strong and great writing. great representation of his character!
@ninjahollow853 Don't forget Clint and Rocket. They're also top-tier dads, though nowhere near Scott's level.
Scott Lang/Ant Man is probably the best bio dad in MCU along with Clint Barton/Hawkeye
MCU also has pretty good adopted dads representation (not Thanos)- Yondu, Thor, Odin adopting Loki, Bill Foster, Red Guardian, Happy Hogan, etc.
Your spelling makes me sick 🤢
Prioritises looks so disgusting in McDonald’s English
@@mikeljackson9192I feel like red guardian and Odin could have been better but they did redeem themselves towards the ends of their stories.
20:15 They absolutely should have had a scene where Cassie sees the cake and goes "It's so ugly! I love it!" as a callback to the first Ant-Man movie.
4:46 I also love how the people of the Quantum Realm's first priority when they meet outsiders is "get rid of any potential language barriers"
I love the fact that this channel keeps doing positive videos about movie that are not really liked by everyone, it's really refreshing to see some good vibe concept that allows lesser things to get some love too
Actually I'd really love an "Everything Great About" on some truly bad movies like Morbius or something like that, showing that there is things to love in everythings
My favorite was everything great about sucker punch. Movie was almost universally panned as a nothing movie, but EGA made me look at it in a different light. Actually gave me a newfound respect for it
He made videos about the Star Wars sequel trilogy, for me they qualify as "truly bad movies".
It's not liked because it's simply not good.
Ant-Man
Ant-Man and the Wasp

I do respect how Hank didn't hold against his wife being with other people while they were separated, even admitting to dating someone else around the same time.
That's why he didn't mind
I mean… if your spouse survived shrinking between the molecules and you didn’t know which caused you to accept that they were gone, would you hold it against them to fulfill their needs?
@@TieflingKumasi sup
And I mean... he did think she was dead for all that time
Same with Hank Marlow in Kong: Skull Island.
So he's like Doomsday?
I did like him but gotta agree that he could’ve look waaay better, not even on a “badass way” necessarily just better
Ever since i saw Mummy Returns -Scorpion King and Troll 2 cgi , i find any other cgi better
They were supposed to be trapped, but they changed it after the trailers were released. I heard it was because it was leaked but I don’t get it
That’s literally just the ending of the last movie though.
I wonder if they don't want to commit to hiring Lilly back. I obviously don't know this for sure, but rumor has it Disney's mad at her for being kind of a wingnut.
@@RM-cn8pw how so?
I love the scene where Hank just walks in leading the giant ants. Michael Douglas is channeling his father like this was one of Kirk Douglas's best western movies.
With the probability storm where Scott and Hope's probabilities merge into one Scott and one Hope; remember that MODOK mentioned Shrodinger's box. There were a bunch of different probabilities, but once Scott and Hope observed each other, there became only one probability, so they all merged into that probability.
I love how in the probability storm, the millions of Scotts form together like colonies of ants do to achieve their goal. Literal ant men.
That entire scene has so much going for it! In my honest opinion, it's the best scene in the whole movie.
And Hope's descent into the storm makes her look like a swarm of Wasps
I didn’t realize that, that’s awesome! Thank you for sharing that

-Dora and the Lost City of Gold
-Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 Film/Ahsoka Tano is getting her own Disney+ series later this year, so why not an EGA video on the film that introduced her?)

It’s so good to find someone else who LOVED MODOK as much as me. He’s the perfect mix of evil, goofy, and sympathetic

My only complaint about MODOK was that he died. I would have loved to have seen him saved for later films.
There’s always rooom to grow
Kinda just wish they had Michael peña and the rest of the original crew still there
I’m surprised Luis was never even mentioned in the film. I still missed him. We need the Luis cut.
Yeah, I thought this was a decent MCU movie but not a great Ant-man movie. I missed the side characters more than I thought I would, it lost some heart compared to AMatW.
Luis is not mc and he is not parent this is parents children movie plus he is still fixing his van after 2023 Endgame
I would give so much for an EGA about Loki, all 70 hours of it
Johnathan Majors' performance as Kang is rightfully praised, but what about Michelle Phifer? For such a one-dimensional character, she sells the intrinsic urgency of her present situation.
I feel like Pfeiffer doesn't get the respect she deserves because she's so darn pretty. I think she's a tad of an overactor myself, but I've never had a bad time watching her performances.
I thought the exact opposite, zero emotion in almost every scene, mostly due to what I suspect to be Botox.
Michelle Pfeiffer is amazing and always has been. Her Catwoman still moves me to tears.
@@jimballard1186 Facts. Her acting been underrated her whole career because she's just too hot. I guess it rubs people the wrong way and they be like "Nah you can't be both this hot and a great actress". They should watch The Age of Innocence. yeah but she was given such awful awful lines in this film that i just dont think she could've made it work. i really liked her scenes with kang! but thats about it lol
I feel like this movies get over-hated just for the sake of being hated. For me, it was a good, fun, entertaining movie. And seeing someone not just bash on the movie for no practical reason is a good change of pace
Agreed. I feel like RUclipsrs enjoy being negative now
If I may offer a bit of a balanced perspective: It's too generic.
INSTANTLY.

But, this does mean that they lost an understand of their speed :(
I know people have an issue with Kang getting punked by an army of ants but it's probably the most realistic thing in this movie.
That and being beaten in one fight doesn't mean they are weak. *Looks at Ironman*
Three things in particular that I liked about this film:
1.) Scott and Hope now have portable suits.
Now imagine a multitude…
They didn’t say her codename, but Cassie in her suit is known as Stature.

Which is why I will forever question why THIS is the film they decided to introduce the new Thanos in.

Having recently watched the pirates of the carribean movies i think that it ia high time that cinemawins cover the remaining four films!
Out of all the channels I’ve subscribed, CW still remains the BEST.

Can't wait lol
Also, shout out to you for recognizing Chidi! One of my favorite moments in the movie.
I didn't hate MODOK or how he looked. Like, it's MODOK. He looks like MODOK. I did hate the twist of him being Darren Cross though.

Note, a Class 2 civilization (based on the Kardashev Scale) is a civilization much higher and more powerful than ours.
- Class 1 civilization is able to harness the energy of their home planet
- Class 2 civilization is able to harness the energy of their home star
- Class 3 civilization is able to harness the energy of their home galaxy
The modern humans of today is currently between Class 0.7 to 0.8 civilization, iirc we're around 0.72
I get the feeling tht the original intended ending was supposed to be that Scott and Hope were trapped in the quantum realm, then boom end of movie. Watching it in theaters, it seemed like the part after that where they go back home was added hastily at the end of production.
i love this channel so much. your videos are always so unabashedly full of love, even for films where you don't necessarily love them yourself. you're so great at showing what makes movies as a concept great, and what makes each individual movie so unique. i learn a lot from these videos, not just about loving movies, but also about loving life. thank you.
(not to say you didn't like quantumatia of course. i personally really liked it.)
It might even be my number 1 favourite to be released in 2023, top 3 at worst
The introduction and portrayal of Kang was definitely the best part of the movie for me. I've seen a lot of people criticise him "losing to ants", but Hank Pym's explanation about them was right there and no one seems to acknowledge it. At the very least, I don't ignore the scenes of him destroying planets and timelines or claiming to kill many Avengers, including Thor
The mid-credit scene is what solidifies it for me. Seeing that the threat of Kang has only gotten worse with his countless variants gathering to deal with the heroes of the Sacred Timeline just gives us a glimpse into what is in store for Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars
MODOK was a bit goofy, I didn't care for Krylar, and I think this movie should have been released after Loki Season 2. But those are just minor gripes that don't significantly affect my love for this movie
It's a pity that Jonathan Majors has gotten himself into so many legal issues of late. I hope whatever is happening gets finalised quickly.
I cannot speak for anyone else, but personally, I would watch a 70 hour Loki EGA!
Hey you're not alone Lee my friend. I LOVE what they did for Modok in this movie. I though it was a sharp storytelling move for sure
I can sympathize to a point with MODOK fans who wanted to see a version truer to the comics origin, but the fact they made a wonderfully-stupid-in-the-way-only-comics-can-be concept like that work in any capacity on the big screen is an achievement in and of itself (besides, we all know the loudest dissenting voices aren't hardcore MODOK stans but in fact CGI luddites and anti-Marvel 30-year-old boys)
Finally, I'm still agog they actually brought in Rama-goddamned-Tut and I'm very excited to see where they take it.
And then there are those of us who have vague memories of seeing it when it was on the air the first time around.
@@CantankerousDave I was born at the tail end of ‘83. Just a little before my time.
Would LOVE to see either (or both but I am not even close to greedy, just wanted to give you more than one choice for my personal request) Little Miss Sunshine or The Full Monty
Forget everything you know or heard and watch them with a clean slate focused on mainly the wonderful acting and relationships between the characters… both with make you smile, laugh and cry. Put aside the odd sexual overtones, they’re incidental, the soundtracks and scripts are phenomenal and ALL the acting is spot on. Low budget independents and made good money based just on the feelings they create. Thanks!!!
They were sexual overtones? When did this happen, or are you just making this up?
14:02 I never noticed before because Hank got cut off, but it sounded like he referred to the ants as "people" showing he respects their sapience and considers them equals.
EGA Loki would be amazing! I'd watch 70 hours on it.
3:36 I just realized Cassie and Scott never went camping because he spent her entire life in jail, house arrest, and the Quantum Realm.
I don’t understand why people complained about this movie
70 hr EGA on Loki sounds good too me!
I loved that when Scott was in the probability storm every version of him worked together as if they were a colony of ants👌🏽
With Ted Lasso now done, I'm glad we have this channel to keep positivity in the world!!! Thank you for what you do Lee!
Also...... Princess Bride???
i recommend th3birdman to you. dude know how to rise above the internet's bs.
@@barisbal7782 thanks! Will watch this weekend
2:44 actually they don’t because YOU never told them about anything, much less Kang.
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT ALONE IN LOVING MODOK!!!!! I loved seeing modok in this movie it's so dumb in concept but so incredible in execution
This is honestly one of my favorite MCU movies. I love it.
6:27 "We interrupt this mushroom trip world visit to bring you Tron Legacy's End Of Line Bar."
You are not alone, I LOVED MODOK! I'm a comic book nerd and this interpretation of MODOK was amazing!
"Oh, everyone hated it? I'm alone in this? I don't care, it is awesome!"
God fuckin' hell, I love this guy so much. :D :D :D
Please, tell me you feel how much we fuckin' love you!
I used to dislike this iteration of modok thanks to the media, but:
1.- Darren is amazing
2.- The MCU is another timeline, so it doesn't have to be like the OG
3.- The OG modok "exist" somewhere in the MCU with the OG shuma-gorath
