@@irenedavo3768 On a slight diversion, 30 or so years ago I met a chap on a train who was in his 90s and travelling to London to get his portrait painted. I bought him a coffee and asked what his earliest memory was. He said it was the soldiers parading on Wimbledon Common (South London) in their red uniforms . For the 2nd Boer War in 1901. Scary.
I lived and worked as a chef in Japan for 2 years, best time of my life so far. Watching videos like this breaks my heart because the beauty of Japan never ceases to amaze me, even after living there and having traveled there several times too. It's a a heart-break that makes me smile though and I'm so glad you're enjoying Japan! Really is a place where you can visit time and time again without getting sick of the sights!
2:58 Mrs. Bean is Beautiful and Glowing. I absolutely love watching This channel! By far one of the Best channels on RUclips. Thank you both for sharing!
In answer to your question, New England in the fall DEFINITELY rivals the changing colors in Japan. Vermont particularly blew my mind. So lovely. Totally agree with you regarding Mount Fuji! It's cinematically beautiful. I get much the same buzz from Mount Shasta in CA, just such an iconic volcano and similarly, it really stands out against the surrounding landscape.
I would add the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the list. The UP in the Fall is spectacular, especially around the many waterfalls, inland lakes and the coastal areas.
The chemtrails in USA are terrible. Talking about Mount Shasta, already in 2013, the test of the snow detected four times the amount of aluminium that should be there.
I would totally do a Tokyo van life but definitely would need a longer van! That's so tiny. I love that Tokyo had such clean and fresh amenities for people, very unique.
I’m from New England, New Hampshire specifically. The foliage there is quite spectacular. I have yet to visit Japan so I can’t compare the two but I believe a trip to New England would not disappoint. I must say that you are easily my favorite travel channel- thanks for showing me the world in your especially entertaining way.

From NY and live in Colorado, I'd say both states are amazing in the fall. NorthEast US has colors people travel from all around the world to see. So yes, go to Maine. Same note, I'd also go to Colorado to see the pine trees in the fall. Equally breathtaking.
Catskills, the Adirondacks, New York State has some of the most picturesque fall colors stretched across its mountains and valleys. I also like Maine, but the mountains of New York State are the best for my money.

You guys survived your adventure of "Honey I shrunk the Van" series!! I imagine when you venture out in your "normal" size van it will seem more like a mansion. Can't wait for your next adventure.
Fantastic job, thank you for your energy this entire trip /episode was so great.😂❤ loved every moment, but sorry for your uncomfortable sleepless nights. Love you guys , you could have slept at an inn ...
To answer your 2 questions: 1. Yes, Vermont in autumn is SO MUCH more vibrant and colorful than you showed in this video! I say this having just done vanlife following autumn peak color through Vermont from the Canadian border to the Massachusetts border. I also kept going all the way to South Carolina by Thanksgiving, and nothing south of Vermont was remotely as pretty. 2. You should add vanlife New Zealand to your bucket list. NZ is very setup to cater to campervans like your UK van. Your first nights by the lake in Japan reminded me of many of the FREE Dept. of Conservation campsites in NZ, but the ones in NZ are actual secluded campsites, not city parking lots. I'm not sure any country can top NZ for vanlife.
Think about travelling around South Africa in a van.. Places like the Kruger National Park, the Garden Route, Western Cape (Table Mountain, the winelands, beaches), then the Karoo.. Being able to travel and stop - you wont be disappointed..
I had no idea that van life would be so easy in Japan. Everyone has told me in the past how expensive Japan was, and not to go, but maybe that isn't true anymore. I would love to go explore Japan.
While Mt Fuji is indeed a beautiful sight to behold, Mt Rainier, located just 55 miles from downtown Seattle in Washington State is over 2, 000 feet taller and is visible from both Seattle and Tacoma.
Canadian here and the Fall colours are very similar to Japan... the difference is that our landscape is much wilder, less manicured. Obviously the architecture is significantly different but New England and Atlantic Canada has its own charm. For something completely different, why not take "van life" out on the water and rent a houseboat and tour the Trent Severn Waterway in Ontario (Canada). Check out Egan Houseboats or R&R Houseboats. You can do 3-day or 7 day rentals and take your houseboat out on the lakes and travel through locks and visit small towns in cottage country. Rcommend late June through the end of August (after that it gets quiet.) Best way to get Kawartha Dairy ice cream...
Wow, I've never seen a (bridge?) like that. Normal bridges bridge a gap, but that one seemed designed to raise you in elevation from what I could see in the video. Absolutely beautiful scenery. I've been to Japan briefly and I don't understand the fascination with cartoonish characters the whole school girl theme. But, to each their own IF it's not causing harm. I really enjoyed seeing your trip across Japan, great episodes.
there are some elevated motorway spiralling access roads in Italy which I hated, but they were miniscule comparing the one they drove. I would have lost my life. I hate heights, especially driving a van. Kudos for keeping your cool!
Hiya Barely 4 minutes in and I am stopping to say to the both of you that Fall foliage in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania looks like what yinz are looking at 3:36 in .😄🤗💜
I'm not saying they compare to mount Fuji but several of the mountains in Washington and Oregon have a similar effect even being part of a range, they're so big compared to the ones next to them it looks like they're alone . Mainly mount hood in Oregon and mount rainier in Washington
I actually own one of these gorgeous little vans. We had ours imported from Japan to the UK and he's become such a hit in our town and everyone smiles and waves when we drive by. He might be slow, and slower uphill, but I can park anywhere and I absolute love it!
I loved following this adventure! You guys brighten my Mondays ❤️ My parents went to New Zealand and rented a camper van many years ago... they loved the experience!
I loved driving through Japan when we lived there, especially the mountains and countryside. Even getting lost could be fun. We lived in Sasebo, by Nagasaki, for 8 years and loved it!
We drove through Shikoku and had a puncture on a lonely mountain pass, no spare tire, fixing set did not work, it was raining, almost night. On a Sunday. Without phone reception. We hiked up the mountain for reception and got rescued by a friendly Japanese team. And just needed to pay for replacement tire... I just love Japan!
The people were so kind and caring! We’ve been back in the US for a little over a year and it’s been an adjustment for sure! I always said living in Japan made me want to be a better person
I live in Connecticut, and yes if all the weather conditions are right, ( proper rain fall, sustained cooling temperatures) the autumn colors in New England, and upstate New York, are just gorgeous. Plus, all the quaint New England towns have their own charm. Popular culture in Japan is certainly bizarre for us westerners. 😆
As a New englander myself sure my comment is biased but I tell it like it is and as beautiful as it is there and it really is beeathtaking I promise New England in the fall is even brighter with colored leaves and shallow creek beds and little lakes and ponds everywhere and Ik you both would absolutely love it. Plus the camper vans are bigger lol! What they do have that New England doesn’t is Onsens which Definately adds major bonus points to Japan. With that being said now that you’ve done the west coast van life in the US you MUST check out the east coast it really is brilliant from Maine to Key West.
Another great video - you two always make it look fun wherever you go! I think once it's the three of you, NZ or Australia should be considered for a van series. Merry Christmas!
Delightful Beans! Timed properly and over 3-4 weeks, a fantastic loop from NYC, starting in upstate NY, (the Finger Lakes area are my fave), through Vermont via covered bridges, New Hampshire's awesome landscapes and on into Maine will deliver a psycedelic kaleidoscope of color and delicious seasonal food. (Don't forget to visit Acadia National Park and try the blueberry pie!!) Head south along the coast for a Halloween stop in Salem MA, then shoot for Newport RI, Meander along Connecticut's coast, and you're back into NYC. It's possible to travel with the leaves as they change from colder and higher inland elevations, toward the warmer coastline. It's truly a thing to behold!
Come to Canada best months are starting end of may through august. The capitol Ottawa and it's surrounding area's like Gatineau park are just absolutely stunning.
Upstate NY autumn is truly worth your time. Route 87N with some side jaunts. NYC North to Montreal. Catskills,Hudson Valley, Albany area, Saratoga, Lake George, Schroon Lake, Ticonderoga, Lake Placid.... so many hikes and so much history.
Wow I love this content. I have been watching for a while now and I have enjoyed all of your videos. I would love to see more of Japan. I loved this series, we would really love going to Japan and will even add a few nights in a van to the bucket list. Thanks guys you are so entertaining
I have watched few other videos of Tokyo and Japan and they really love waving whether you are entering or leaving a cafe, or even when the train is leaving the station.
Howdy, Canada here... yes beautiful colors, and perhaps we do not have those super cute houses but I promise you the colors in Canada are spectacular. So how about you take an extra few hours and drive north one day and find out all we have to offer. Happy travel!!!
You should do a snowmobile trip sometime when your new one is a little older. In Alaska you can see the sled dog races and snowmobile, we used to go into Canada but they do not want Americans there now so for the last few years we go to Wisconsin and Minnesota. Great trails and very nice people. With the modern clothes that have heaters in them you do not even get cold. Sled dog races are fun also if you get to one. Be safe have a great Christmas.
Wow this is super cool, great idea. The van is tiny don’t know how we would cope ! We have a motorhome and struggle with the size sometimes. Well done Chelsea and Mike
I'm from the US. And I've been to Japan once. It's a unique beauty. Striking, subtly sneaks up on you because of the balance. I think that isn't always by happenstance. Kudos to the Japanese. I've been to Maine once as well. Maine is a rugged beauty. Different. Beautiful too. I can see why people would compare them in that they have exposed large rock outcroppings, but I wouldn't compare them. Both beautiful. I think Upstate New York has pretty fall color. Not sure about other New England-ish places. I live in an evergreen place, so ... I may not have enough experience to comment further. You guys have me mad about van life. Maybe when I retire I'll get one and head out on the open road. I have been a tent camper, but I like the drive up and sleep option you've showed us all. Thanks!!!
I love seeing you guys in Japan. Tokyo is one if my favorite cities in the world and I often revisit your old vlogs there. Sad to see you leaving. But on to the next adventure! 😎
I grew up in New England...YES the fall absolutely rivals what I'm seeing on your video. Don't get me wrong, it's gorgeous where you are, but New England fall is breathtaking. 😀
Vermont and Virginia are beautiful in the fall. Anywhere near the Ozarks. We traveled through back in fall 2018, so gorgeous. Love the smell of the crispy leaves as well
I was waiting for you guys to figure out that the pop up tent is supposed to be another sleeping space, but you never did, huh? The boards you guys have been laying your beddings on actually goes up there, I think. When you mentioned in an earlier episode that the van feels like a tent, you're not wrong actually. Kei campers like these are basically slightly better equipped tent on wheels. It's just a sleeping space which is a bit sturdier than a tent, and less prone to bad weather. You'd take these on a weekend trip, lasting only a day or two. You'd pack whatever gear and supplies you need into the van, in some cases even an ice box or camping fridge. That's why a fridge is not built-in default in one of these things.
In my younger days I travelled extensively, over 90 countries and two circumnavigations but now at 81 I just have to enjoy watching you two travelling, enjoying different cultures and having fun.
Watched again, tanks!!!!!!!
I loved all you have shared in Japan. What a cool trip to take
Come to Canada best months are starting end of may through august.
This is the first video of Japan I’ve ever seen and it was fascinating. I loved seeing it through your eyes. Would love to see more! Congratulations on your pregnancy. Can’t wait to see him🤗
I loved this series, we would really love going to Japan and will even add a few nights in a van to the bucket list.
Loved the Japan van trip. Very interesting and way more assessable then I thought.
You guys are amazing, always enjoy your videos.
Ah thank you! 🙏💛
yes to Japan, Wow! It's beautiful. No to that tiny van! Hope all is well with the baby. Love your videos.
Thanks!!!
Yes! Maine, NH, Vermont can rival those colors in October-November. 😊
I love seeing you guys in Japan. Tokyo is one if my favorite cities in the world and I often revisit your old vlogs there. Sad to see you leaving. But on to the next adventure! 😎
Would’ve loved you guys to try our Camping Vans. Spacious and with much better designs.
I grew up in New England...YES the fall absolutely rivals what I'm seeing on your video. Don't get me wrong, it's gorgeous where you are, but New England fall is breathtaking. 😀
Loved your video. The exploration, the van and all of your laughter. Enjoy your travel!
I don’t think you could find a more beautiful place to visit.
Hey guys!!! You should come to Argentina 🇦🇷!! We have beautiful places here!! ❤
