I never had a problem, many people do not fix the problem like bad gas or corroded line and then blame the carburetor.

You could have pinched off the fuel line with needle nose Vise Grips and removed the tank with it full of gas and no spilling.

He forgot to say is that gasoline will melt that straw and plastic bottle, its not a good idea to use that method

You may be correct if you leave the Gas in long enough but I left it overnight and did not have a problem but I am sure you are correct with different plastics it would melt the straw or bottle.
