@@eduardomerino8098 Because apparently it was easier to make up some random knife monster and a Kraven the Hunter that looks like a high school football mascot. Kraven's a human being, why did he need a freaking mascot costume?
Two years late but the reason is because musical theatre costumes are always designed to be over-the-top and more exaggerated due to them having to be seen from nose bleed (all the way in the back or up above the seats) seats. Masks are not always used but a lot of the times extreme makeup and prosthetics are. Considering the director's previous work with The Lion King play and the fact that it's a lot cheaper to make one mask than to reapply prosthetics and makeup (and hire a specialty makeup artist) every performance. Prosthetics also have to have multiple made and are usually fitted to the performers face so if there's multiple performers... multiple prosthetic molds must be made. Musical theatre costume design is really interesting! So different than movie and TV designs.
