Starsky and Hutch were such an important part of my teenage years! I never missed an episode! I lived in an unstable environment and that show brought normalcy and a sense of right and wrong that I admired at that time in my life! In the 80/90's we worked on Paul's as well as Elizabeth's cars, as well as numerous other celebrities and can say Paul is one of the kindest, most well grounded, down to earth people I've ever been blessed to meet. I was involved in an auto accident in 1991 and Paul had learned I was injured and hospitalized. He was working on "The Cutting Edge" at the time and I'm sure was ridiculously busy, yet this compassionate, so very, very, good man took time out of his schedule to send me a large bouquet of flowers. I was asleep and sedated and woke up to this amazing floral arrangement along with a card. I'm am absolutely certain he's also touched others just as deeply in a such a sincere and personal way. It is just who the man is. The world is a better place with Paul Glaser in it. Thank you for this upload, and Paul, if you read this - know your kindness during that personally challenging time meant more to this guy than you'll ever know.

I truly enjoyed this video so much. Growing up in the rural south, television had some issues at times. At least we had a good antenna, that was manual. Most of my favorite programs or movies were action packed, not what my parents thought was quite appropriate for a young lady. When Starsky & Hutch came on though, I was truly in my element. I found just last week that I could watch the pilot episode, and I watched as if it was brand new to me. Now, tonight I watched you talking to Paul, and it was so nice to see him again, but so being himself. I wish we still had more of those type films that I so adored back then. Prayers for all of David's family and friends. He will so be missed by so many adoring fans. May David's Soul rest in peace. God bless your heart from mine. Deme in Bama.😊

RIP David Soul - had been following the news last few yrs and knew the health battles were taking a toll. This interview is special - I don't know if Paul might ever be so candid like this again - I was awe struck by Paul's understanding of psychology: he obviously had to work on himself to cope with the instant stardom and then heal during the tragedy of Elizabeth (and daughter?) with the AIDS thing. Crazy. Paul's really become quite wise - I appreciate how different personalities they were from each other. God Bless David Soul, but I'm sorry some of the activism seemed so out of left field at times to me but I appreciate when a celebrity lends their voice to a cause, their fame helps bring a spotlight to an important issue that otherwise does not come up on the radar. Paul channeled his energies thru more creative expansions: directing and his art, etc. It felt like David still carried a lot of "anger" due to the health setbacks and mis-steps... I'm not saying that's wrong. You watch S&H and you'd never think these guys had such classical training in theatre/plays etc that was their foundation and laid crucial groundwork. Most importantly, these fellows - along with the unsung heroes like Antonio Vargas and all the crew etc Dutch Derbyll's special effects everything: they were hard working dedicated professionals who believed in truly giving their best.
I re-watched the pilot movie the other night - that scene in Hutch's car when they do the checklist - instant chemistry these two cops are true partners like wow they really really sold this camaraderie - those latter episodes when they sometimes quarreled and turned on each other were so cheap, hammy and far fetched. Seeing David Soul in Magnum Force really awed me how this young guy who'd been a baseball player and folk singer had quickly developed impressive acting chops as if he'd been an actor as tenured as say Olivier or something. These guys really worked at their craft and worked and worked and worked. It's funny because in "Friends" none of the six characters have a on-screen intermingling chemistry the likes of which were evoked on S&H. A generational thing in part, perhaps. Credit to the casting team/production team who recognized casting these two could actually deliver on the promise.

Thanks for your insight. Paul and David had a special chemistry that just doesn't happen that often. I am very honored that Paul opened up on the level he did in the interview and the way it has affected so many people. Thanks again!

What Paul Michael Glaser said about ‘fear’ was very impactful to me. I listened over and over to that because I have and had a lot of trauma in my life and at 62 I am still struggling with the fallout and it’s exhausting. Putting it into that perspective really resonated with me and I hope I can give it some more consideration and use his analogy in my daily life. I am not 100% fear. We would all do better to give this some thought.
I was a huge Starsky & Hutch fan and what I loved about their on screen relationship was their deep friendship that encapsulated both warmth and love between two men which came over as very genuine. So for me that was the over-riding emotion I felt and looked forward to every week. It was lovely hearing Paul after all these years!

Paul was under a lot of pressure by the studio, the producers and family challenges ... and thus, I learned much as a director and what it is to me a man, by witnessing him each day on the set dealing with each day's slow-motion riot of creative roadblocks.

Amazing interview. It's always a pleasure to hear him telling stories and life philosophies. S&H still is my favourite show since I was a child when it started airing in Brazil in the late 70s (and I still watch it). I found very interesting when he talks about work in TV shows and the fans think the artists are part of their lives, feeling as if they/we know them and he´s right, they end up being a big part of our lives. I follow their careers, read and watched a lot of material about the show but your interview brought new things. Thank you for the opportunity and for let him speak freely. Hugs from Brazil.

Thanks for the kind answer. I'm such a fan of the series that I used to record parts of the eps on cassette tape and write summaries of each one. About 20 years later, the show aired on Fox Channel and I had to subscribe the cable channel in order to record the show on VHS. And being older and able to understand it better, I started to admire it even more. And then, thanks to the internet, I was able to have access to so many great interviews and material about the series and the wonderful artists. Today, I´m 56 years old and old habits don't die easily! Thanks for reading my message. Big hug!@@ThatsClassicTV

A nice and very personal interview with Paul - I met him, David and Antonio Fargas at an event in the UK several years ago and I still remember the fun Paul had trying to make me crack up on the group photo we were taking. What he had to say about life, fear and awareness of self in this talk with you is especially meaningful in the era we're currently living in. I also really want to read Chrystallia and the Source of Light. This was great to watch and the second half struck a very big chord.

An amazing interview. Starsky & Hutch to this day is my all time favorite show. I love Ben and Owen but hated the movie because it seemed to make fun of the show and they got the characters backwards. I never knew Paul wrote and I am going to find that book. Thank you great pod cast I grew up in the 1970 watching S&H love Paul and David that show was loved by everyone young and old back then it’s amazing how the things you don’t want too do is the thing that makes you famous the episode off S&H with Kathleen Harold paul is referring too is called deck watch from season no. 3 I think it was the last episode for that season some off the best S&H episodes are the ones Paul directed there the best in the entire series blood bath season no.2 ,class in crime season no.3 deck watch season 3 ballad for a blue lady season no. 4 and the final episode off the series sweet revenge season no,4 which is the conclusion off the 3 part episode targets with out a badge season .4 if you watch the pilot episode off starsky & hutch when Paul and David are in the bar talking too fat Rally played by micheal Lerner Paul is eating peanuts from a dish on the bar as he said that’s how he auditioned for the part .I have never understood why the cardigan sweater was sow iconic he only wore it in the pilot and twice in the first season .the brown leather jacket he wore fron the second season till the final episode is more iconic too me because it must have been comfortable as he wore it the most on the show.✌🏿again great interview

First of all, thank you, it was a pleasure to do the interview. Love your breakdown of all the episodes. Now I need to go back and watch all of those for sure.
