I think packet rate is very important. In 915 Just 50Hz to 25Hz is -120 to -123 so 50% more range. Same as going from 500mW to 1w.
So when i run 200Hz id need like 7x the mW to go same range.
Prob should used ELRS24 analogy since ELRS915 25Hz 10mW ive gone 3miles and still had -17dbm left.
Output power vs packet rate to me can be compared similarly to your yelling analogy. You may hear someone yelling from far away but have no idea what they’re saying. That’s sensitivity/packet rate
Yelling louder=more range
More words being spoken=less range
Your packet rate and transmit power is a balance of these

I just had a weird failsafe with ELRS 915mhz, within 150 feet from myself, clear line of sight. I've been using 200hz. 500mw power. I will go check out your other video. These out of the blue failsafes that happen for no obvious reason make me not trust the equipment at all. Should I fly over a tall tree or over water or over a building? Probably not if the quad is just going to fall out of the air. The quad would not regain the radio signal at all. I never lost my Vista video link. Very strange. Then power cycling the quad I would hear 3 beeps only. Ok, so now the FC isn't talking to the ESC? I get home and pull the top off and use a smoke stopper and I have all 5 beeps. I took it all apart. No damage to the electronics. No damage to the Happymodel elrs receiver. No damaged wiring. The only damage was to the 2 arms the 7 story fall caused to snap off. This was even the first crash with the Speedybee F7 stack.
Was going to say inverse square law, like painting 1m squared area, at 1m distance, and at 2m you cover 4m squared, from memory. Or is it you would have to increase spray paint gun power by 4 to cover same thickness of paint at 2m. Double the distance, 4x as weak (using same power), OR your simple 4x the power to get 2x the range.
Think my teacher used the spraying cheese on to toast from a distance analogy .haha
To double range, transmit power has to quadruple.
