ELRS telemetry will always consume a certain amount of time domain slots (packets). The ratio 1:128 means that 1 out of 128 packets is a telemetry packet so when telemetry is sent RC data is delayed for that 1 telemetry packet that is sent. With Race telemetry since when you're armed and no telemetry is being sent you aren't missing any RC packets since telemetry is not being sent.
@@modquad18 No, in race mode you would have no telemetry back to your transmitter. So if you have you tx set to shout at you when you reach low battery, then that won't work. Your OSD is created on the flight controller so that will not be affected.
The rc data isn't delayed for 1 packet, it's skipped for 1 packet. Otherwise latency would change and the next packet would be skipped. I know that really doesn't change anything significant. Also I think race mode also does away with sync packets so even less skipped packets. Great explanation though.
250Hz or 500Hz is ideal for Freestyle (LoRa)-sub 5ms latency is super low and has great range. 50Hz-100Hz would be best for long range. Betaflight has a well engineered RC Smoothing which will filter the incoming packets according to the rate - so a low rate will not mean any jolts in the data - it will mean more filtering is applied automatically (and adds a bit to the latency of the packet rate). Thanks for the video and insights.
Hey your vlog style is getting really good, appreciate the content! A suggestion, I really recommend running stabilization and using a stick to lift the perspective up. This keeps the camera up towards your eyeline and stops a lot of the wiggles.
Perfect coming from x9lite and xmplus to RM pocket and not having a clue but It works well enough. Gotta figure out my dbm and crap but that pocket is fine fr. I strictly pinch I think and how they don't have long switches anywhere, but all the buttons on the thicc top. I'm digging it.
What wold you recomend for thoes of us who fly on the slope? Lets say 1/2 mile at the most, line of sight. I have the radio master tx16s and the zorro 4in1/ELRS using the Nano modules on both. The planes are using Ail, Rud, Flaps and Elevator I would really like yourthoughts if you have time Thank you, Daniel
If you want the best range for your planes run your planes at 50 hz,, and make sure that your flight controller is setup for the whatever range of hz you plan to use . Less hz means more latency, but if your flying a plane it should not be a problem.
I wish i could get into this. As a daily 107 professional FPV pilot, i still use crossfire for everything. Not willing to sacrifice the reliability for a margin of performance improvement. This will definitely help with my racing builds though!
@@headsupfpv if I was still in the racing/freestyle game I would be so into this!!! FAA reps are out in the wild now. They randomly approach us and will weigh/inspect the quad under certain situations. Unfortunately I cannot justify ELRS as a "suitable" for any professional (107 operation OR flying over people cat 1).
Best tip for ELRS I got was changing Betaflight OSD settings from RSSI % to RSSI -DB and LQ then setting the warning to +10DB from the number in the LUA, (250hz -108DB = -98DB in CLI) and just switching off the warnings on the radio. ELRS without anybody shouting about RSSI Critical 😎
@@modquad18 I think I got it from a JB vid, but basically you set the RSSI -DB as an OSD element for your own visual ref (replace RSSI%) then "Get osd_ " should show the "set" line you need it is an OSD warning element so the same element that does batt etc warnings. Set osd_.... it should appear and be obvious,
Great video! For freestyle I use 250mW 150Hz both for RadioMaster RP1/ RP2, giving me plenty of range. Also for the ceramic antenna.

So in Race mode, no battery voltage in your OSD?

What is the best for flying behind buildings and trough buildings you know ?
Probe lens 533 temperature was a great shot!
Great video!
Armando Is a wiz with that probe lens!

Thanks! Just ordered a stick/tripod to get the camera , and gonna try to be more stead 😅
Didnt know about race telemetry setting. Thanks!
Thank you so much finally a helpful video on elrs settings!
Please also go over easiest and quickest way to update and then flash your new gear. Thanks!
Great video! 😎🤘
Love the video, but could you please run it through some motion steady software of sorts :-)
Lol! I’ll work on it!
Ya, that was brutal
Thank you, helps to demystify things, much appreciated!
Aprendí mucho. mucha gracias por el aporte compañeros
Nice video Evan we love it
Great video! How about a video on setup and flashing from right out of the box for those who know nothing about open source tx/rx. Thanks
Sounds like a great video to me!
,boys ,i did about 15 miles on 2wt power ,50 ghz and 1:16 ratio .
And tell me please,if i switch dynamic power ,will i fly the same?
Thanks
Should fly the same still yes !
Great video, straight to the spot with good info. Thanks guys! :)
Switched to ELRS about 6 months ago from FrSky R9. Its so much better, It was like being able to see in color for the first time 😅
Great video. Thanks guys

so do you have a video as awesome as this one for the regular flyers trying to get the best ranges possible (no racing)
So there's nothing to change on the receiver? It's all on the transmitter?
Man such a cool video!!! Thanks
Great video! Makes more sense now lol. I didn’t really know how that worked. 😂
Not gonna cover the BF ELRS presets?!?
This was ELRS radio specific, will plan to do a more beta flight centered version soon!
ELRS for the win.
What about dynamic power for long range?
I have heard it works very well.
@headsupfpv thanks bro

is 921k bautrate enough for d500?
Do we turn on telemetry in BF snd then use race telem on the elrs tx?
Will do a video on this !

Hi how does polling rate on gimbals work with your TX rate?
In edgetx polling rate is synced to packet rate. I think.
@@JoshuaBardwell with a maximum gimbal pole rate of 500hz? Wonder what happens when eLRS is set to 1000Hz

LET’S GO CHAUS!
Who is that single thumb down?! Is that you Trappy?? 😆
Why not f1000?
Because there is risk to lose some packets at this high Rate, especially when you're at races with other tx's around
Correct ! The risk is relatively high in comparison to d500, in a noisy environment such as a race
@@headsupfpv Oh wow, didn't know that. I'll have to change my settings!

nice content, but you should invest on a camera with stabilizer.
