"You're only as good as your commitment to getting better"
This is genuinely one of the best lines out of the video, I was playing crucible and this really got me to think. The very next game hit a 7th column. This is by far the best video on comp help I have ever seen. Keep it up!

There's probably also some mental block you get from playing well if you're playing with people you dislike. Often times when I play with the "better" teammates I dislike, it feels great so long as we're not in a voice chat dragging eachother down.

  • @iNintendork

People give up in PvP too quickly and need to understand that you have to put the effort in to play better. This is something that isn't handed out like things normally are in Destiny. It's earned and you work hard for it. I love how you break it all down in such detail and gives a better perspective on competitive PvP.

The fact that you bring up chemistry in a team and play style compatibility is amazing. I’m unbroken but when I play on a team that doesn’t play well together we don’t get anywhere. You’re the first Destiny tuber I’ve seen actually talked about the stuff that matters. And not simply just tell us viewers “go get gud”
in the world of destiny where first impressions after finding a group, means a lot. But realizing that the team isn’t good and the player isn’t good are completely different things.
The lack of toxicity in your videos is nice too! You sir earned a sub 😇

I only have three words for this video.
    Oh. My. God.
This is probably one of the best videos I’ve watched on RUclips by far. It’s because even though that it’s a Destiny video, you make people take something away from this and apply it to the real world. To never give up on something that you put your mind to, work towards what you want, find the person that you are, etc. So many lessons came from this video, and I just wanted to say thank you. I probably won’t be trying for Unbroken, but I definitely am thankful for the lesson you taught me for this game and the world.
Cheers, brother. You’ve got yourself a new sub.

You have inspired me. I really struggled in vanilla d2 pvp. Most of the time I was sub 1.0. I considered myself decent at d1 trials, but in d2 trials, I couldn't buy a kill. Since then I've been working hard at getting better. Working on landing shots, map awareness and communication. I've hit fabled every season since forsaken, but have been scared to go for legend. Mainly because of self esteem. I felt that if I didnt make it to legend, then I would be less of a person, so I didn't even try. Thanks to you and this video, I'm gunna try.

I was unbroken long ago(during one eyed mask titan meta with dusk rock blue shotguns) but I just got back to Destiny and out of interest watched this
    I 100% agree with this.
Only thing I would add in is how damn crucial it is to be a sniper. If you like sniping or good at it and want to reach Unbroken much faster then take one for the team and always run a sniper. Pbv better if more teammates run snipers. If you always snipe you obviously improve even more over time and it will only become more satisfying when you lead your team with the first kill. The sweatiest matches Ive had all involved everyone rocking snipers and you cant even run anywhere without having FULL map awarness.
Aside from that, the following the meta rule and then absolving your sins was funny🤣 I remember doing that with that Wolves fire shotgun forgot its name. Really helped me reach 5500 one time haha

Earning UNBROKEN felt incredible and so validating. It'll mean different things to different people for different reasons. I like your breakdown here as you spoke to what most don't consider because their ego refuses to. One thing I'd add is to study gameplay from yourself whenever possible. 👍

  • @DerultimativeOzzy
    @DerultimativeOzzy 5 лет назад

Your narration reminds me of Ahoy. Very solid voice to listen to, the pacing in the video is perfect as well. The jumps from point to point are clear and not too fast. Also solid values you're setting up here when it comes to reaching the goal of Unbroken. 10/10 feel educated.
There really is not much needed to add up here. I could say one thing as a 7th tip. Be adaptive.
It helps a lot at getting a diverse set of knowledge when it comes to all the tools that are in the box. You can be great at sniping, but if the enemy can counter that, you'll have to be able to adapt to that situation by switching to different guns when need be. Same case goes for making yourself future proof if you want to call it that. For Destiny's particular case, its very smart to farm different guns with various rolls that feel great to use. What is Meta and what is Trash today, may change in an update.
The more knowledge you have of the sandbox of the game you play, the more options become availible to you. While the metas in games are metas for a reason, it is far too common that even good players are unaware of the off-meta things and their potential and thus be surprised and sometimes be unable to handle that situation.
From personal experience in the Fabled ranks, I've run into a duo of Le Monarque users and those two hunters handed our butts over to us on fancy silver plates. Bows aren't outstanding, yet in the right hands can be deadly. We were unprepared to handle something that isn't commonly used. That's not saying that everything is viable, but some items in the game are hidden gems. So get that knowledge.

I feel your motto Nomad, I’m one season away on October to get Unbroken as I wait but for anyone reading this, don’t stop playing crucible. My own K.D is 2.3 and after reaching Legend for this week I stopped playing PvP and focused on PvE. After just a week I wasn’t at the same skill level I was back then. Sure I play the game everyday but I lost my battle focus of unpredictability from opponents, as I was jammed with repetitive shooting A.I enemies. Practice in the crucible as much as possible or else, those who decided to play crucible then doing that raid you wanted done will be one step ahead of you.

I really feel that number 2. I had a friend I used to play with all the time before I quit d2 for a while. I came back with forsaken and we started playing crucible together again but we're finding it very hard to not get mad and blame one another for not running together or being in certain positions. After a lot of that we jumped in a party chat and tried to figure it out. We decided it was because we had just drastically different play styles but we had the same ideas about how teamwork should be in game. We ended up having to call it quits together in comp and just play quick play together

Really enjoyed your insights in this vid. As someone who aspires to the same it was helpful to hear your thoughts.
Especially the things regarding your experience with different teams and chemistry. When I went for Luna’s when it first came out, every really good team I played on no matter how many streaks we went on, one loss and the teammates would turn on each other and get super toxic. This happened multiple times and left me thinking that the people that are “ good enough” to get to legend/unbroken I don’t enjoy playing with so I’m screwed lol.

If I rush they rush with me, when I play with people who stay back I tend to get out gunned because of team shots but when I have team mates who rush with me we do great things. I've always hated comp, but I've always wanted to get unbroken, and with the changes to gaining and losing glory and the introduction of freelance, I'm currently midway through my first push to legend, almost at 4000.
Not sure if I'll make it all the way in freelance or if I'll have to find a team some time, but the one thing keeping me going is a positive attitude. I don't like toxic people, and I refuse to let that impulse get to me (ok, well, I try to. mostly. I keep snarky comments and emotes to a minimum and never do them unprovoked,) and maintaining a positive attitude just makes me feel so much better, even after a loss. That's a big part of why I don't usually like teams, so many people get salty and it just does bad things to my gameplay and emotional state afterwards.

Man I remember your RUclips name from back in D1 when you made that best sniping lanes for TTK vid. Thanks for the advise. I'm not really focused on Unbroken. Just getting Not Forgotten before the season resets. Cheers

The "Redrix's Claymore" goof was an absolute delight. Love when you sail some comedy boats in the sea of good advice and sound tactics. Keep it up!

    Easy sub.
I've been following all the high profile PvP content creators since D2 release but I never really took a real crack at Destiny's PvP, until this Season.
I've easily played more games this Season than all of D2 previously and D1 combined. I know Destiny's PvP is and always will be an unbalanced mess, it's "charm", but I still have a hard time acccepting it. I've heard everything you have said said here from others, but you said and structured it the best.
I have alot to learn. I'm playing and persevering to learn. I currently have every Crucible pinnacle waiting for me after the needed Glory points, with the exception of a few steps on Redrix's and Luna's. Not Forgotten is not what i deserve right now. I will get the others, though, this Season.
I'm not comfortable enough to play with others as I don't think I could pull my own weight. However, when I am, i'll take everything you've said here and apply it. I've taken the initiative to becoming a multidimensional player in Destiny and I can't stop now.
    Thank you.

7:44 MORE people certainly need to hear this as of now as stasis drives the community apart between those who want to preserve their integrity and those who want to be competitive.

Trial and error, mixed with patience and putting yourself out there when you don't feel like doing it. Took me a year to find the clan that I really gel with, but it was worth the wait.

Subbed and liked, quality advice although movement is also a big factor you could have touched on mate, but the rest of that advice I haven’t seen covered anywhere. I recently moved to pc, at the beginning of season of opulence and from then my mission has been learn mouse and keyboard and improve as a player. I was a 1.2 efficiency player. But realising my weaknesses and taking responsibility for my decisions has made me a much better player. I’m currently around 3k glory and still don’t have a 4 man team so I mainly solo and duo que. 1.7 efficiency and climbing rapidly. Oh and I hit a we ran and undefeated in comp at 2900 with dust rocks and Luna last night going for the Luna kills for Nf quest

Point 4. is basically the reason I stopped playing Destiny 2 PvP. With over 5k in game hours in D1 (90% ToO), I just couldnt play a game where super is the meta. I hope they will change PvP in Shadowkeep drastically, back to D1.
