    Great video, very thorough. It is CRITICAL that you wait several minutes after disconnecting the battery before working with anything related to the airbags. All modern vehicles have capacitors that supplement power for the deployment of airbags in case the battery loses power during an accident.

    • @L2fish
      @L2fish Год назад +1

      with the battery disconnected can you simply tough the positive to negative connectors to discharge the capacitors?

      @@L2fishyes with the key in the on position and both battery terminals disconnected. You can then touch the positive and negative terminals together and discharge any leftover voltage

      unless you have an expensive scan tool you can't tell. just have to replace on and see if it works, if not put the old one back in on that side and swap the other side. typically sensors that go bad will look swollen and typically have salt stuck in the sides of them.

      Andrew Barnhart I’m guessing it has something to do with the passenger seat being sensitive to weight. If there is not enough weight on the passenger seat it will not deploy the passenger side airbag in an accident. No point in deploying the airbag if no one is sitting there.

      @@josuerivera1659 once you ask for the air bag sensor, they'll go by your car brand, I had both replaced under 1/2 hour. I only paid for the sensors since they were easy to replace and in a easy place to see them. I changed both since sooner or later the other will go too. they were filled with snow salt. didn't need to remove nothing since they both are in a reachable place.

    What year is your Silverado? I have a 2008 and wondering if that year model has a similar set-up.

      Last Life my Silverado was a 2005, a 2008 is the newer gen so I’m not sure if it’s exactly the same. Sorry I could not be more help.

    With as many parts and reasons for an airbag light you just told us to throw parts at it and one last sooooo much longer than crappy dorman.

      Doorman makes great replacement parts. In many cases they last just as long as the stock parts if not longer.
