I remember when I heard this on the jukebox, and old man played it , Mr Roy Bings , old pipe line welder , I watched him play it than he sat alone and cried, it's the first time I ever saw a man crying, it had a life long effect on me , ..real men cry sometimes, 💔,I asked him if he was ok, he said it's the most beautiful song he ever heard,
I see nothing wrong with a grown man crying. Shows his real emotions. This is one of my favorites among many more. Such a fantastic duet. I play this one often and it gives me chills every time. This song has everything in it. Love, spirituality, loosing a loved one. It's zauberhaft. Every time I hear it, my tears are flowing.
This is my Dads favorite song. Its so beautiful. And such an unexpected treat. You wouldnt think they would be a great pair to sing together but they absolutely NAILED it flawlessly. *side note, I absolutely Love watching Ray perform. He always looks so joyful and carefree. Just lets himself feel the music without holding back in the slightest. ❤
Willie is always a half time off. That’s how u know it’s Willie. And the gentleman speaking of a man crying to this song, if your human it’s gona happen with ray and Willie
This is such a beautiful song. Ray Charles is such a legend and I've always loved his music. He and Willy on this song is pure GOLD! Thanks for another great reaction. You're comments are always thoughtful and interesting and its easy to see you are a music lover.
You need to hear “A Song for You” by these two with Leon Russell (I think”) Ray had just told Willie about the severity of his illness before they went on stage..then proceeded to sing this. You can tell Ray is singing from his heart and Willies’ reaction is there to see, they were such good friends. I cry like a baby every time.
This is one of my favorite songs. My granddaddy played it all the time. Ray Charles was his favorite person to play with. He played bass fiddle and would play for people when they would come to town. He and my mother gave me my love for an eclectic collection of music
Two of the greatest songwriters of all time, with a just amazing story of love and loss. Gotta be a tough track to record, because they're both liable to go off on some new direction on any performance.
One of my top ten favorite songs. It was the first song that ever caused me to cry when i was around 7yrs old. The Wurlitzer Prize by Willie Nelson and Norah Jones is an amazing duet also.
My Great Grandma Fern was a country western singer, traveled across MO playing in different venues and she'd bring me along, this was one of my absolute favorite songs to hear her sing. Beautiful song.
Have you heard willies son Lukas? I men’s there’s only one Willie but wow he sounds like his dad a lot. Oh and there is anyone that could top Ray!! Ever.
The first time I heard this I was asked to put together a friends funeral music….. he had died of a heart attack and I was one of the only one at that time with an iPod, disc burner, and I-tunes. This was on the list. I have requested that this song be at my funeral. It is undesirably great.
Momma got to hang with Willie and kris in conifer Colorado at an old cafe she worked she spoke so much about it and them Lynn wesley you are a legend 💜
We have friends their mother passed away in Mexico visiting her family . Her children own and operate 3 funeral homes here in our town . She has 12 children and 56 grandchildren and great , and great great grandchildren . Our Sheriff in town Escorted them down to Mexico to get their momma and Bring her back home to East Texas . Mrs Aguilar is very loved here in town . They played this song all the way home from Mexico . When we had her funeral they also played it there . During Cinco Da Mayo which her family is in charge of . Every band that plays , plays this song in her memory every year since her death .
Ray Charles is right up there as the father of modern rock. Having hits years before Little Richard and Elvis, and creating rock and roll out of blues, jazz and gospel. Can't get much better. Then you have the King Of America, Willie Nelson (matters not who is in the white house as long as Willie is still king.)
There is an earlier performance of this duet that is the more known version. This is great, but you should review that one. It is a better performance.
I've always heard that Willie was off beat but made it sound great because of the way he did it... I don't.. know about all that.. what I do know.. this is amazing. Thank you for your reaction
he was ignored in Nashville for a LONG time because he didn't sing the way they thought he ought to, his cadence was all wrong they would tell him you need to sound like so and so and Willie pretty much told them what they could do with their opinion
There's an actual video an actual show where they're sitting together at the piano singing together. I don't know where this one came from but this ain't nowhere as good as that one sounds like they're karaoke and somewhere cheap
I remember when I heard this on the jukebox, and old man played it , Mr Roy Bings , old pipe line welder , I watched him play it than he sat alone and cried, it's the first time I ever saw a man crying, it had a life long effect on me , ..real men cry sometimes, 💔,I asked him if he was ok, he said it's the most beautiful song he ever heard,
Will only everalw me think of my dad, his too all time favorites.

This is such a moment of musical history!
This one gives me chills every single time. Love it.
They were best of friends and sing together many times
Can't beat these two!! Willie just turned 90 recently!! I am blessed I got to see him live in concert in 1993!!
This is my Dads favorite song. Its so beautiful. And such an unexpected treat. You wouldnt think they would be a great pair to sing together but they absolutely NAILED it flawlessly.

Brilliant collab. Willie made his millions off of his unique guitar work, and singing behind the melody. Only one Ray; only one Willie. Great post.
Two American treasures...this was fantastic. Thanks for the reaction!
Such a gem of a song and the collaboration was amazing
Two rough voices that fit perfectly together to cause an enormous message.
Don’t know why I love this song but I always have. Their voices shouldn’t work but just magically do somehow, and beautifully ❤❤❤

Absolutely love this song , always have always will,
First time I hear this song in Japan from USAF radio broadcast from Yokota airbase in 1990 really nice song
This is one of my favorite songs. My granddaddy played it all the time. Ray Charles was his favorite person to play with. He played bass fiddle and would play for people when they would come to town. He and my mother gave me my love for an eclectic collection of music

Delta Dawn by Tanya Tucker is another one of those kind of hauntingly beautiful songs.

Ray and johhny 🔥
One of the best songs ever recorded
I've seen Willie live. I sure wish I'd have had the chance to see Ray. What a powerful soul.
Have you heard willies son Lukas? I men’s there’s only one Willie but wow he sounds like his dad a lot. Oh and there is anyone that could top Ray!! Ever.

Simply beutifull soulful heavenly heartfelt sends shivers down the spine that makes it great 😊
Perfection!
There's an earlier live version that's even better. Great song.
Agree with you. Willie and Ray really sound good together. They both seem to sing around the beat.
The first time I heard this I was asked to put together a friends funeral music….. he had died of a heart attack and I was one of the only one at that time with an iPod, disc burner, and I-tunes. This was on the list. I have requested that this song be at my funeral. It is undesirably great.
2 of the greatest story tellers, EVER!!!!!!!!!!
I have your patreon and your RUclips. Didn’t know you had a music channel. You Should promote that a little more. Very happy to find it
There is no way that you cannot listen to that in fall in love with them
Saw him just before he passed. It was magic.
Perfect 💎💎💎
Momma got to hang with Willie and kris in conifer Colorado at an old cafe she worked she spoke so much about it and them Lynn wesley you are a legend 💜

One of the best duets ever.
2 men playing their game at the top of the heap. Can't beat those two.
More Willie: "Angel Flying too Close to the Ground." 💚🤙

Your venturing into rockabilly and outlaw country. It will change your whole perception of country
My last comment 6 months ago.. I didn't recognize.. the Great.. Ray Charles.. smacking myself over that.. Ray was one of the GREATS
You did it! Thank you SO much! 💜
Check out Willie Nelson "I never cared for you"
how does it get any better than this?
Ray Charles is right up there as the father of modern rock. Having hits years before Little Richard and Elvis, and creating rock and roll out of blues, jazz and gospel. Can't get much better. Then you have the King Of America, Willie Nelson (matters not who is in the white house as long as Willie is still king.)
Always makes me cry
I loved this song then and still
You know Willy Nelson isn't gonna retire until trigger does.😂
I never saw them together live but I have seen both individualy in concert.
There is an earlier performance of this duet that is the more known version. This is great, but you should review that one. It is a better performance.
Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, "Pancho and Lefty" should be next! But yes, Wilie and Ray (and Merle Haggard) are true Legends!
Willy Nelson’s son is a carbon copy of his dad, voice included
2 LEGENDS
Legendary perfection…….
My dads fav song
Even though I young I really liked this song though most people my age didn't
Willie and Ray were close friends
I've always heard that Willie was off beat but made it sound great because of the way he did it... I don't.. know about all that.. what I do know.. this is amazing. Thank you for your reaction
he was ignored in Nashville for a LONG time because he didn't sing the way they thought he ought to, his cadence was all wrong they would tell him you need to sound like so and so and Willie pretty much told them what they could do with their opinion
You should check out Tom Waits “On The Nickel” live from Austin
Van Morrison would kill that song also🇮🇪☘️
I think you could be blind & recognize Willie's voice. In outlaw ountry or sometimes other country too, they call it singing through your nose!!
👌🏻
😢
Chris Stapelton also sang this song
Please hank jr young country 💯
Hank jr ray charles old cats
There's an actual video an actual show where they're sitting together at the piano singing together. I don't know where this one came from but this ain't nowhere as good as that one sounds like they're karaoke and somewhere cheap
This version (also live) has much better audio and was performed just as they were releasing the song. ruclips.net/video/x8A9Y1Dq_cQ/видео.html
CHUCK WILLIS 1950'S
One of my favorites! I like the first live performance of it a little better though. ruclips.net/video/x8A9Y1Dq_cQ/видео.html Peace, Love!!
The live version is not so good. Get the studio version and will blow your mind.
I gotta be honest this is a top 5 song for me all time....this is the worst live version I've heard by far....that's how good they are together
Great great song not the best version however
I get goosebumps every time I hear this song.
