Hey brother, I just wanted to point out Candlemass' first album (E.D.M) featured singer Johan Längqvist, not Messiah. While Messiah was with the group for a good number of their albums and arguably their most popular ones he wasn't in the group for their first one. Honestly each singer has brought their own style with them. I feel like people don't care for King of the Grey Isles, but it's solid, it's just got much faster playing than you'd expect from a doom band, in parts, like Emperor of the Void. I like it. I run into the same thing with Judas Priest without Rob Halford, people hate it, but I really enjoy it. Not to say it's better, but it's still good, just different. I love Candlemass and doom in general, hell I love metal in general but doom has always been one of my favorites along with grunge, I like the slow heavy tempos, good video my man. 👍
Thats easy to explain. Coole had alot of time on his hand. Think of the vast amounts of editing you can do when you are waiting for something interesting to happen while listening to doom. And I say this as a casual doom enjoyer.
Stoner metal is just regular doom but all the lyrics are about the Bongsmen of Spliffrusalem toking the doob of Zion, killing your neighbor for dabs, or the desert
What's the difference between stoner metal and stoner / doom metal? Because on metallum some stoner bands like electric wizard, cathedral, weedeater etc. are listed as " stoner / doom" metal. So what would a pure stoner metal band be like vs stoner / doom?
As a Drone Metal fan, you don’t understand how long I’ve waited for you to finally talk about it. Honestly it needs its own video please make it happen.
Seconding this just so Coolea gets to listen to a bunch of cool bands. He said he liked Bell Witch's Mirror Reaper so he can't say anything about length lmao

There's just something about guitar feedback and all the harmonics and ringing notes that takes me to another place. While completely different genres, Steve Reich's classical compositions, Glenn Branca's guitar symphonies and Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music do the same thing - it's amazing how much variation there is in drone, feedback, phasing and noise.
