It's double edge dance, not dancing blade
Hi i have a problem with proguides
@@typhlosion7872 Beat me to it LMAO
These guides are terrible. He talks about very specific and sometimes irrelevant things while showing footage that doesn't correspond with what he is talking about. He also can't get the names of the moves right. If you want a real guide than go watch Izaw.
@@alexvedernikov8898 ^^^^^^^^^^^^ I love this comment finally someone who understands and he also gets the names wrong in general he called Chrom Roy at one point I just really dislike his guides as well not helping at all
One criticism that I have is PLEASE show examples of moves when you are talking about them. For example, when you were explaining getting a grab can lead to a combo at 5:11 ish, you should be showing an example of that happening, like someone f smashing your shield then you getting a grab off. It makes the information more cohesive, relevant, and helps people understand better. Look at Void's guides as an example, as he does an amazing job.
Roy's Our Boy
Chrom: It’s December and I’m the best swordsman in the game
Sakurai: Laughs in nerf
Roy: Laughs in voice 14
I still think Chrom is the best 😳
(Maybe lucina is better)
sock wow your gay if you think Lucina and chrom are good there overrated just like every female character in the game
@@calebdontcare-836 first off its not gay i think you went a little off there lucina and chrom arent overrated chrom is pretty good i dont believe hes a top tier and in my opinion i believe roy is better just with damage but thats not the point lucina out ranges most of the characters because of her range she can edge guard pretty well and has a good but predictable recovery lucina also beats roy and chrom because shes more consistant with combos and damage
Hidden Skyler but chrom can disrespect
@@weebteckickedin4334 any character can disrespect you just gotta know how to do it 😂😂😂😂
ROY'S SIDE B IS CALLED DOUBLE-EDGE DANCE!!!!!! STOP CALLING IT DANCING BLADE!!!!
Sh-Awe k
Sh-Awe ok
Found it
Sh-Awe can you change your profile picture to something not gay
@@calebdontcare-836 nah, I'm good.
Hero: "Time for me to look through this spell menu and pick what I want"
Roy: "Let me introduce myself"
I mean i know it’s not really a “getting started” technique but should have mentioned jab to attack cancel bair since it’s one of his best kill confirms
If you compete, I'd say your competence with that combo determines if you should use Roy at all. Everything else he has relies on reads and so many other characters have easier kill confirms.
Irar is better than attack cancel
3:34 wow Roy got such a good read
Ive become the master of hitting weak hits and killing at 180%
That's the real Roy experience.
Play marth
Roy-mains, take a shot every time he says *"DANCING BLADE"*
For anyone who wants to play Roy I recommend not using Dash Attack because of it's high endlag. I think it's even more punishable than his SideSmash. Also when you edgeguard then always keep your Doublejump to recover. Oh and when you edgeguard, remember that Downair has high ending lag so if you use it you will travel down for a short time and it's hitbox is very small. And this video didn't mention this, but his UpSpecial is a very good out of shield option. (20%)
If you want to go far with Roy, practice jab to RAR Bair before anything else. If you can't get that or hate doing it, I strongly suggest another character. At the higher levels, it's absolutely necessary.
1- dash attack is a bad recommendation, pivot cancel foward tilt is superior because its a lot less laggy and nearly as much knockback
2- Jab is one of the most important moves in Roy’s kit because it has follow ups at every percent and it also has kill confirms at high percents, on that note, fishing for jab and a kill confirm is a lot safer than foward smash and side b which were mentioned a lot in this video.
3- Jab and Down tilt, two very important moves for Roy’s neutral left unmentioned.
4- Roy out of shield/pressure removal moves include: jab, back air, down tilt and up b(super armor).
I suggest you get data off mains of any characters if you want your getting started videos to actually teach people significant stuff rather than advertising a character with their basic aspects and mechanics.
No mention of up b super armor, open jab combos, dancing blade timing for early kills, have you played roy for more than a few hours?
I was just thinking that like why no super armor and other dumb stuff
For real dude. They call this a guide... its more like a pamphlet
pretty sure you mean double edge dance???
@@swagmaster4599 nah I actually dance every time I press side b
@@jeffrysaul9296 imagine you just side b and dance on their grave lol
Marth/Lucina's Side B is called Dancing Blade.
Roy/Chrom's Side B is called Double-Edge Dance.
M A R T H A
WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME
Mars
A thing I hate about this guide is the impression it gives about down air. I see a lot of this combos ending with a DAIR or using it as an edge guard. DAIR is super unsafe and landing DAIR sweet spot to spike is really risky.
I've noticed.
ROY'S OUR BOY!
One way to make up for Roys lack of grabbing options is to use the blade dance but flicking the opponent up into the air with the last strike (basically end the blade dance with the up input.) I have found that the vast majority of opponents you will face will be put into essentially a juggle state. My favorite follow up is to either immediately follow up with a up b or even better you do a short up do a up air and then immediately do up B. Also if their are ledges on the stage grab your opponent while under the ledge and either throw your opponent down or up either way they will land on the ledge which you can immediately follow up with an up B, and I mean immediately you can’t hesitate or you will miss your opportunity. Anyways more tips for my other Roy mains!
Roy’s my boy!
0 mention of Jab Bair? Really?
This is a solid guide with wonderful footage, commentary, quality audiovisual, and exceptional pacing. With that said, I would like to offer a few suggestions.
Consider following this up with a more advanced guide for players to learn about Roy's combos. Starters, enders, and the percents at which they're most effective. The best way to average this out is to use a midweight like Mario or Corrin. Then pick FD and remind the audience that DI and blast zones vary but the lowest average % you can KO at is (x/y).
I would also recommend illustrating Roy's movements with what you're describing. Use gameplay footage of Roy's Uair when discussing Uair strings. This will synchronize well audiovisually and even kinesthetically. You'll have players feeling out the moves with the cues they see on screen.
Also, a correction. Roy's FThrow is one of the best tech-chasing tools he has. Capitalizing on it properly can lead into an FSmash for an early KO. Please make use of this once the opponent is out of DThrow combo percent range.
This was a solid guide with a wonderful format. I hope you'll take these into consideration. Thanks again for your time.
Voice 14 Roy is what I listen to in order to sleep
Double edge dance smfh
Right lol I'm like wtf is this move you speak of
These guides don’t help at all- it would immediately be better if some examples are shown, otherwise I have a hard time believing some of it. “Down throw into f-smash” at low percents doesn’t seem like it would work. If the guide was one person in training mode messing around it would be better. And it doesn’t really talk about anything specific, just “fsmash and ftilt kill”. Yeah, but so does warlock punch, but that doesn’t mean anything. If you want a Roy guide, go watch izaw’s or anything else than this
I started playing Roy cause he’s fun af and I realized I was nuts with roy now he’s definitely my main
1:10 "Not every move will kill"
Shows double edged dance not sweetspoted
Me, an intellectual: FRICKING ANGLE SIDE B 2 AND 3 UP U ST**ID
Gotta love how your best videos are the one where you don't sadly try to get ads revenue.
The best way to use Roy is to use him at close range to do a ton of damage
6:10 paid actor pacman
Oooooh thank you! I wanna master the best boy! :D

I wonder why they didn't used his Melee animations to differ him a bit more from marth
It would give a reason for people not calling it dancing blade anymore

Hello there.
Is this an ad?
why does this video talk about something and have totally irrelevant footage in the background... can you not pull off what youre talking about
Here before 1,000 Views.
Quite possibly one of the worst guides I've ever seen for a game, maybe ever
There is a lot of characters that people overlook all they pay attention too are all the dumb overrated piece of shit characters
Ok I know im 4 years late but jesus this video is bad. No mention of staple combos like jab nair or jab bair, nothing on his fantastic down tilt, the utility on side b, nothing. Rather, this video spreads actually false info (how would down throw EVER combo into f smash) and is terrible for anyone getting into Roy. Go watch Izaw’s “Art of Roy.” Holds up way better after all these years and is way more comprehensive.
