I don't think you've done this one before, but, I really think you'd like 'Bridge of Sighs' by Robin Trower. Back when I was in school during the 1970's, he was really popular and a guitar-god.

David Gilmour is a GOD. I've been hearing the guitar solo from this song for over 40 years and I still get chills to this day. I will miss that Black Strat.
When i heard Gilmour for the first time,i threw away my guitar,theres nothing that can make me play anywhere near that kind of standard,so i just kick back and let his genius enter my soul,willingly.

Sadly, we will never get to see Gilmour play that Black Strat ever again as he auctioned it off for charity. I believe the owner of the Indianapolis Colts bought it for $3.95 million. Gilmour auctioned off his entire collection for more than $21 Million and then donated all the proceeds To fight climate change. Gilmour is just a great human being.
I saw him live some years ago and believe me: with the first note he picked, you knew it was Gilmour. The black strat was / is a guitar, he could make a $25 guitar sounds like him.

I feel very lucky to have seen to have seen the Momentary Lapse of Reason, and Division Bell tours. Both were amazing and remain at the top of my all time favorite concerts 30+ yrs later.
I really enjoy watching you guys reacting to music I grew up with. I was born in 1956 so in my teenage years there were so many great British bands (I’m a Brit btw). To watch them through your eyes and ears and to see your joy is like me hearing them for the first time again. Keep up the great work 👏 👍

Yeh your just a bit older than me my first Floyd album was Dark Side but by then I was already hooked on the Who and The Stone I feel so lucky that I've had 45 years of listening to this stuff
I still remember the day when I bought the vinyl album of “Dark Side of the Moon”. I was rooming with ten other guys in a house. We shut the blinds, took the phone off of the hook, shut the lights off, put on our own light show and cranked the volume. We listened to the whole album. That was a memorable evening.

Nice setup! I don't know why but I get choked up from this song, it just hits me on an emotional level. It's a f-ing amazing song, played by true artists.
Took my kids, their first concert in life, to see Pink Floyd, which was Floyd's last tour. My daughter was 14 at time and to this day she is a huge fan and brags about them being 1st concert. Pink Floyd not just a concert, was an experience! Saw them in Alabama then came home to Atlanta and went again with kids because we knew they'd never get the chance to see them live again. Concert was at GA Tech and when we came out of concert, the streets were lined with college students for blocks outside, music was so loud they could hear concert outside! I've seen many, many of the greats, Pink Floyd still the best!
I don't want to get too philisophical, but Andy mentioned David Gilmour's skills have diminished due to his age. Just think... In the history of the world, a miniscule of time, three decades (60s, 70s, and 80s), gave us arguably the best musicians, songs, and albums that will ever be. In the grand scheme of things, life is a vapor. There will never be this historically monumental, and timeless music, ever produced again.
@derstuka96 Yes, and we were lucky enough to have been born in the time frame where it’s still alive and actively consumed, I love it. So glad I discovered Floyd and this genre just a couple years back, early enough in my life where I can spend the rest enjoying it and carrying the torch proudly! I think real music will have a come back, but it won’t be the same
Gilmour has not diminished he gets better every second.You need to listen more and absorb every note and realize how versatile and perfect he is.There is Rock and Roll and way up here there is Gilmour,on the other side of God than Jesus.
The only thing that may have diminished are his vocals. His guitar playing is spot on. I don't think it is physically possible for him play this solo wrong.

Gilmour ages like a fine wine...he absolutely kicks ass to this day. His second solo is at least twice as long on this video as it is on The Wall and I always hate when it ends.
And considerably longer yet if you can find the right mix of the Pulse concert with the remnants of Pink Floyd: the remarkable David Wright on keyboards and the remarkable Nick Mason on drums. I've seen at least 3 different mixes of the song from Pulse, and one of them takes in what I presume is the uncut full length of the closing solo which is a few minutes longer than what we're seeing here.
I started listening to Pink Floyd when I was in college and this song and Shine on You Crazy Diamond made me so melancholic but so happy at the same time. These two songs made me think about life and made me grateful for what I had. Now that I'm 36yro Comfortably Numb hits me harder. The guitar solo is pure emotion, f*ck technique, he's making that guitar cry in perfect desolation and tired hope. The studio version is pure beauty and it always makes me shiver. This version live is God tier and I just want to hug him and thank him for making me feel so much in a world that is so numb.
great new set up. Recently I was in a large electronics store, on one of there mega screen TV's they were playing a Pink Floyd concert, the crowd that had gathered ranged from 16 - 65, all head nodding what a great band that transcends a genre
I was flying on psychoactives, sitting in seats at "center ice" about ten rows up at the Montreal Forum when they ripped into this tune, the energy and power that was being emitted from the stage was absolutely staggering . Great moment to experience.
I'm now 70 and will never forgive myself for not having attended a Pink Floyd concert. I have to say that I've seen full length televised concerts of a couple of the excellent PF tribute bands. Yes, they do an incredible job of simulating the original sound, spectacle and music note for note, in particular, the Australian tribute band. I didn't know it wasn't PF until the closing credits rolled. They play the giant arenas world wide to full houses and provide the experience. I listened to and was saturated in the music from Syd's days as their maestro, but it was pre-internet and the albums I had didn't have their photos on the covers, and I had no idea what they looked like. RIP Syd and David, but a robust Fuck You to Waters who can be regarded as a legendary songwriter but also a complete dick who to this New Year's Day 2023, still spreads his toxic vibes around any forum that will give him a microphone to speak.

I was 18 in 1973 when my best friend handed me the headphones and said "listen to this" I listened to the entire DSOTM album w/o interruption. I was hooked on Gilmour when I heard the Time solo! I still love it just as much today!
Chuck Leavell was in the Allman Brothers after Duane Allman passed and he's been in the Rolling Stones for about 35 years now. He took over the piano when Ian Stewart died.
The thing I've always loved about the song especially live is the paceing . They let the song breathe which makes the solo and the anticipation of it an out of body experience. This was a veteran rock band that just knows how to do it. Phenomenal

Saw them perform this song at night in the misting rain back in April of 1994 on the Division Bell tour at Texas Stadium when it was still standing. It was like time stood still. Amazing.
Here is my story. There was this girl I liked , chase her for weeks. With no luck. Then I got tickets to P Flo ,and she said yes. Only to cancel 2 hrs before the show. Do you know how easy it is to get a date with those tickets in your hand? lol

Man....tears streaming.Concerning the the tension/frustration you discuss in the solo, that's the beauty of live improvisation, especially when it is becoming so elevated that it's for all practical purposes "sacred", there is a poignancy in the humanity that is stretching to those heights, that evokes yet another dimension of emotional response. For me, I can only describe it as heartbreaking in such a beautiful way. As usual, great segment. I always enjoy listening with you guys and hearing your discourse.
Saw Floyd perform this at Maine Road, Manchester. Just surreal and spellbinding with the wind blowing through my hair and the heady scent of Cannabis in the air. AWESOME!
The album “Dark Side of the Moon” is a rock opera in that every song is one continuous story about former band member, Sid Barrett’s decent into madness.
Loving the new set up, does seem more like your just sitting here with us! This song brings back so many memories just makes you want to sit back close your eyes and listen
Bruce Metcalfe That version of Echoes should come with a warning: If you suffer from seizures, look away. Awesome light show. To hear a truly angry Gilmour solo, I recommend the outro to Murder from About Face. Only the studio version of this one will do.
Went to Italy and visited Pompeii a few months after this concert. As we walked through the ruins they were playing Pink Floyd and I was moved to another dimension. I saw Pink Floyd live in high school and have always loved them, but the Pompeii experience was surreal.
The amphitheater of Pompeii is very ancient (it was built by the Romans in 70 BC). The Italian government has given permission to use it only 2 times: in 1971 to Pink Floyd for the "Live at Pompeii" concert, and in 2016 for the David Gilmour concert. It has never been used for other events or concerts. There is no need to add anything else.
I highly suggest another video from this concert. It's the Pink Floyd song "One of these days" Watching David Gilmour tear it up on the slide guitar. The tones he gets from it are amazing. You'll be missing out if you don't. And the new set up is great.
I went to this tour when it hit Madison Square Garden....if you think it looks and sounds good on video, you cannot imagine how it looks in real life....You guys should also check out Gilmour's solo work...any Pink FLoyd fan should....his last album was so good...different sound than Floyd but so good...His best song is "No Way" from his 1st album.....do yourself a favor and listen to that album...
I love that crunch sound he gets from his Fender. And he never plays it quite the same. He knows the spots so well he just bounces and teases you with the notes he will push. And no one does a light show like Pink Floyd!!

In my opinion, DG is the master of string manipulation. His use of bends, fretting force, vibrato/whammy bar, etc. is all so subtle but so effective. It's hard to perfectly replicate because it's literally all feel.
Like the new digs guys. I remember when it was just Andy in the bedroom and he introduced Alex to us all. You guys make a great team and are the best reviewers I've found. This version of Numb has way better sound quality than Plus. I just wish David could have played it the same. No matter he still has it and has no equal. Like myself at 68 it's tough to watch your idols get older.

Been watching/listening to this version ever since i found it on RUclips. Having seen a ton of version of that song, i like David's solo here the best. And he's 70 in that video. Always leaves me speechless.
I saw them live at Knebworth (40 miles from London) in 1976. Knebworth is a hilly field that makes a natural arena. We were on top of the hill looking down the hill at the crowds and the stage. As dusk kicked in and the music soared over the Summer evening air, it was like being in a magical universe.
Everytime I experience the Glory of Comfortably Numb it's like witnessing my own life review & remembering everyone I ever cared about, crossed paths with & loved. It's like being pulled out into the vast sea of pensive moments, both turbulent and beautiful memories and being led into a stratospheric catharsis. This is a song I crave but can only take in small doses. The levels of emotions that ensue take time to recede and settle back down. Pink FLoyd meant the world to my only sibling, my brother who died at only 42 years of age. We often listened to Comfortably Numb together in his car. No doubt, Good times plus super awesome music.

Great review guys! Those of us now in our 60's who grew up and aged along with Pink Floyd and other great bands have this unique appreciation for being born at a time when rock music was in its infancy,where there was nothing like it before, and has passed the test of time some 50 years later. And it's great to know each new generation that comes along can also be moved by these great songs and lyrics.

The man singing in the beginning is Chuck Leavell. He played on studio albums with The Allman Brothers, he was on Eric Clapton’s unplugged album, he played live with obviously David Gilmore, George Harrison, He still plays with The Rolling Stones. I had the pleaser of meet him a little over a year ago at one of his solo shows. He’s a great guy, and arguably the best rock pianist out there.

That's Chuck Levell singing Rick's parts on keyboards.. He was in Allman brothers after Duane Allman died
Chuck Leavell also played with The Rolling Stones for awhile.

Yes, and we were lucky enough to have been born in the time frame where it’s still alive and actively consumed, I love it. So glad I discovered Floyd and this genre just a couple years back, early enough in my life where I can spend the rest enjoying it and carrying the torch proudly! I think real music will have a come back, but it won’t be the same
Gilmour has not diminished he gets better every second.You need to listen more and absorb every note and realize how versatile and perfect he is.There is Rock and Roll and way up here there is Gilmour,on the other side of God than Jesus.
The only thing that may have diminished are his vocals. His guitar playing is spot on. I don't think it is physically possible for him play this solo wrong.

Ahhhhhh. One of their best. Blasted this song many, many times pulling into high school in my 76 corolla.
Gilmour ages like a fine wine...he absolutely kicks ass to this day. His second solo is at least twice as long on this video as it is on The Wall and I always hate when it ends.
And considerably longer yet if you can find the right mix of the Pulse concert with the remnants of Pink Floyd: the remarkable David Wright on keyboards and the remarkable Nick Mason on drums. I've seen at least 3 different mixes of the song from Pulse, and one of them takes in what I presume is the uncut full length of the closing solo which is a few minutes longer than what we're seeing here.
I started listening to Pink Floyd when I was in college and this song and Shine on You Crazy Diamond made me so melancholic but so happy at the same time. These two songs made me think about life and made me grateful for what I had. Now that I'm 36yro Comfortably Numb hits me harder. The guitar solo is pure emotion, f*ck technique, he's making that guitar cry in perfect desolation and tired hope. The studio version is pure beauty and it always makes me shiver. This version live is God tier and I just want to hug him and thank him for making me feel so much in a world that is so numb.

great new set up. Recently I was in a large electronics store, on one of there mega screen TV's they were playing a Pink Floyd concert, the crowd that had gathered ranged from 16 - 65, all head nodding what a great band that transcends a genre
I was flying on psychoactives, sitting in seats at "center ice" about ten rows up at the Montreal Forum when they ripped into this tune, the energy and power that was being emitted from the stage was absolutely staggering . Great moment to experience.
I'm now 70 and will never forgive myself for not having attended a Pink Floyd concert. I have to say that I've seen full length televised concerts of a couple of the excellent PF tribute bands. Yes, they do an incredible job of simulating the original sound, spectacle and music note for note, in particular, the Australian tribute band. I didn't know it wasn't PF until the closing credits rolled. They play the giant arenas world wide to full houses and provide the experience. I listened to and was saturated in the music from Syd's days as their maestro, but it was pre-internet and the albums I had didn't have their photos on the covers, and I had no idea what they looked like.
RIP Syd and David, but a robust Fuck You to Waters who can be regarded as a legendary songwriter but also a complete dick who to this New Year's Day 2023, still spreads his toxic vibes around any forum that will give him a microphone to speak.

I never tire of listening to David Gilmour and I have been listening to him for 45+ years I like the new set up Guys I hope it was a nice single malt in the decanter keep up the good work thanks.

I was 18 in 1973 when my best friend handed me the headphones and said "listen to this" I listened to the entire DSOTM album w/o interruption. I was hooked on Gilmour when I heard the Time solo! I still love it just as much today!
Chuck Leavell was in the Allman Brothers after Duane Allman passed and he's been in the Rolling Stones for about 35 years now. He took over the piano when Ian Stewart died.

The thing I've always loved about the song especially live is
the paceing . They let the song breathe which makes the solo
and the anticipation of it an out of body experience. This was

Saw them perform this song at night in the misting rain back in April of 1994 on the Division Bell tour at Texas Stadium when it was still standing. It was like time stood still. Amazing.

Man....tears streaming.Concerning the the tension/frustration you discuss in the solo, that's the beauty of live improvisation, especially when it is becoming so elevated that it's for all practical purposes "sacred", there is a poignancy in the humanity that is stretching to those heights, that evokes yet another dimension of emotional response. For me, I can only describe it as heartbreaking in such a beautiful way.

The album “Dark Side of the Moon” is a rock opera in that every song is one continuous story about former band member, Sid Barrett’s decent into madness.

Yes! The best version of Echoes. The finale is just spectacular, and the musical conversation between Gilmour and Wright is so beautiful.

To hear a truly angry Gilmour solo, I recommend the outro to Murder from About Face. Only the studio version of this one will do.
Went to Italy and visited Pompeii a few months after this concert. As we walked through the ruins they were playing Pink Floyd and I was moved to another dimension. I saw Pink Floyd live in high school and have always loved them, but the Pompeii experience was surreal.
The amphitheater of Pompeii is very ancient (it was built by the Romans in 70 BC). The Italian government has given permission to use it only 2 times: in 1971 to Pink Floyd for the "Live at Pompeii" concert, and in 2016 for the David Gilmour concert. It has never been used for other events or concerts. There is no need to add anything else.
The arrangements from the wall album are the gold standard in psychotropic music.

I highly suggest another video from this concert. It's the Pink Floyd song "One of these days" Watching David Gilmour tear it up on the slide guitar. The tones he gets from it are amazing. You'll be missing out if you don't. And the new set up is great.

I went to this tour when it hit Madison Square Garden....if you think it looks and sounds good on video, you cannot imagine how it looks in real life....You guys should also check out Gilmour's solo work...any Pink FLoyd fan should....his last album was so good...different sound than Floyd but so good...His best song is "No Way" from his 1st album.....do yourself a favor and listen to that album...
You guys need to listen to “Do you feel like we do” from the “Frampton comes alive” album.
I love that crunch sound he gets from his Fender. And he never plays it quite the same. He knows the spots so well he just bounces and teases you with the notes he will push. And no one does a light show like Pink Floyd!!

In my opinion, DG is the master of string manipulation. His use of bends, fretting force, vibrato/whammy bar, etc. is all so subtle but so effective. It's hard to perfectly replicate because it's literally all feel.
The solos in this and Time are...well, timeless.
Pink Floyd has been my favorite band since I was a teenager. I'm 55 now and still jam to Floyd

Like the new digs guys. I remember when it was just Andy in the bedroom and he introduced Alex to us all. You guys make a great team and are the best reviewers I've found. This version of Numb has way better sound quality than Plus. I just wish David could have played it the same. No matter he still has it and has no equal. Like myself at 68 it's tough to watch your idols get older.

I saw them live at Knebworth (40 miles from London) in 1976. Knebworth is a hilly field that makes a natural arena. We were on top of the hill looking down the hill at the crowds and the stage. As dusk kicked in and the music soared over the Summer evening air, it was like being in a magical universe.

Everytime I experience the Glory of Comfortably Numb it's like witnessing my own life review & remembering everyone I ever cared about, crossed paths with & loved. It's like being pulled out into the vast sea of pensive moments, both turbulent and beautiful memories and being led into a stratospheric catharsis. This is a song I crave but can only take in small doses. The levels of emotions that ensue take time to recede and settle back down. Pink FLoyd meant the world to my only sibling, my brother who died at only 42 years of age. We often listened to Comfortably Numb together in his car. No doubt, Good times plus super awesome music.

Great review guys! Those of us now in our 60's who grew up and aged along with Pink Floyd and other great bands have this unique appreciation for being born at a time when rock music was in its infancy,where there was nothing like it before, and has passed the test of time some 50 years later. And it's great to know each new generation that comes along can also be moved by these great songs and lyrics.
The bass line is so menacing and brooding which captures the mood of the wall so perfectly while a blazing solo is being played.

The man singing in the beginning is Chuck Leavell. He played on studio albums with The Allman Brothers, he was on Eric Clapton’s unplugged album, he played live with obviously David Gilmore, George Harrison, He still plays with The Rolling Stones. I had the pleaser of meet him a little over a year ago at one of his solo shows. He’s a great guy, and arguably the best rock pianist out there.
