    Generally riding as fast and hard as possible in natural terrain. Big, long, high speed turns. Powder, chunder, groomers, and natural airs. If a board is really surfy, I can be persuaded to slow down and spend some time slashing around. Not spending much time in the park.
    Most of our laps are provided by our Drift boards in the backcountry.

      Evil Twin + and Lobster Sender (Fridge). A good rider can ride all day without a fall and a beginner can step up their game. The bindings make a perfect match. Have a great day! 🤙🏽

    I got my Surfer LTD on sale a few years ago. I think you hit on most points but I would add:
    1) Bataleon could have named this board the “Molly Brown” because I found the nose to be just plain unsinkable in last season’s epic Utah snow.
    2) Leaning waaaaaaaay back and mashing down your heel or toe feels like punching a high school bully in the nose! Been snowboarding since the mid-1980’s and I have never felt anything like it.
    3) The long effective edge makes it an excellent carver. I was able to enjoy the deepest powder of my life last season and then pick up my kids from ski school for an hour of groomers without even thinking about changing boards.
    4) Does a snowboard need to be a work of art? If I’m paying more than $500 bucks for it you damn straight it does. The Bataleon Surfer looks as good hanging on my wall as feels underfoot when I’m riding it.
    5) My only complaint is it’s not the fastest base, but I feel like all or most of the manufacturers are cheaping-out on the base materials now, since my Nidecker from 1998 is still my fastest board.
    Great review on the board - can you tell us where the new factory they are using is located?

      Great additional thoughts! I agree with each one. I think for my size, a touch bigger board would give me the float everyone else talks about. It was really good but not the best for me. Everything else I'm with you. I believe they moved from SWS to Titan. I'm anxious to try one of the new boards; they were dialed so hopefully they don't have any big issues with the change.

      @SteveThompson-li2fc How would you compare the Surfer and Camel 2 for pow trees and carving?

    • @SteveThompson-li2fc
      @SteveThompson-li2fc 6 месяцев назад

      The Camel 2 is better for trees. The Surfer has a longer effective edge and therefore better at carving than is the Camel 2. Wide open spaces? Go with the Surfer. Riding trees in search of powder? Go with the Camel 2.@@bakamono7

    Nice! I have a surfer and i can agree with you 100%. Two things i actually dont like is the stiffness and nose shape. A litle bit stiffness would be better. My skills improve and i need more stability. And to sharpen the nose like camel toe or magic carpet. I damaged edge on the nose because of that blunt nose.

    have you had a chance to ride the LTD version from a few years ago? its stiffer and has a different base. would love to hear your impressions of both as no one seems to have done so.

    • @Drift-Products
      @Drift-Products  6 месяцев назад

      No, I was never able to get on one of those unfortunately. I wouldn’t want mine to be any stiffer, personally.

    Great vid and love your products! How does the Surfer compare to the Aloha Vibes and the Party Wave+? Looking for a board for 70% Japan Blower / Trees, and 30% carving groomers... I'm 6 foot size 11.5 and 200 lbs

    • @Drift-Products
      @Drift-Products  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! Great question. I'd pick the Surfer over both of these for pow or groomers. It's just a more dynamic board. at my weight, I found the Aloha Vibes to be too stiff and wide. It just felt like a dead plank under my feet. I'm not saying it's a bad board, people love their boards, but the Aloha Vibes is one of the few boards that activity turned me off quite quickly. I rode the PW+ a ton last year. (the shape has changed now). It has awesome float and I really like it, but I think the Surfer again is a more dynamic turner. One complain about the PW+ is that the back end tended to skip out on me a lot in any sort of variable terrain. Hope that helps!

    umm. its really surfy but meant to still carve when needed. It floats just fine…Rode this in Chamonix…rockered boards suck in long narrow exits and getting into burly chutes/culouirs. Floats better than tapered early rise normal shapes…

    • @Drift-Products
      @Drift-Products  8 месяцев назад

      Sounds like we agree on all points! I wasn’t criticizing the board, just describing it in comparison to others. It’s not as floaty or surfy as other pure pow boards I have. On the other hand, it handles variable snow and carving much better than other pure pow boards I’ve tried. Just depends on what you want.

    I weigh 200 pounds and got a 159 surfer will it float well for me? Compared to my 164 flagship whee will I get more float
    ?

    • @Drift-Products
      @Drift-Products  9 месяцев назад

      I think it will float great unless you have bigger feet and/or are on the taller side. With my height and foot size I’d love a surfer with just a touch more length and width. (I like a pretty wide stance so that makes a difference.) I have a 169 flagship and I’d say the 162 surfer floats better. The taper and swallow naturally drop the rear end quite a bit more than the Flagship.

      I really like them both. They aren't the same, but I don't think I can say the Surfer is twice as fun as the Archetype. (if you think of it costwise.) I'd probably say the Surfer has a touch more float and is a little better at carving but the Archetype has a really special feel. More playful but still very capable. I wouldn't feel bad about that sale price at all!
