I don’t know how you meant for this to be interpreted, but to me it seems like this dude is dead or something (how, I don’t know) and he’s making his way to the afterlife, where his loved one is waiting for him? It makes sense with the cover art being ghosts and all. I’m not sure what “everybody knows our crimes” means, but maybe that’s why he died? Either way, this song is kinda bittersweet but I love it. Keep on doing your thing. On an unrelated note, what genre of music is this? The closest I can get to naming one would be indie pop, but I’m not sure. This feels more dreamy, I guess?
I really like this interpretation! I purposefully wanted it to be more open to interpretation even with the way I engineered the vocals so that they aren’t so clear. As far as the genre, I honestly have no idea. But I take a lot of influence from soul, jazz, beach rock and bedroom pop for sure
