      That’s such a great way to put it. And honestly I think she should be an assistant again if that’s what she loves. The Fever still owe her a million dollars so she’s fine financially. • @tommyrq180
    @tommyrq180 16 дней назад +7

    I will disagree slightly. If CC had not been drafted by the Fever, Sides would still be coaching there. Still bottom of the league, still acting like a coach but coaching badly like most WNBA teams. CC put the spotlight on Sides, under which she was revealed as a bad coach. Most any WNBA coach would have flamed out too, including Reeve. The league is that bad. And this is why the WNBA hates CC and her legion of new fans. She revealed the grotesque league culture, dysfunction, and product. For example, refereeing. Despite being fully exposed as both corrupt and unprofessional, NOTHING has been done about it since the finals became its last straw. Sue Blauch is still the league’s Head of Referee Performance and Development. No review of the season has been conducted. Nobody fired. Not one word from Englebert or their patron, the NBA. Still dysfunctional, corrupt, and unprofessional. Sides was a blip.

    Not just Sides, but also the GM Dunn. They thought they knew how to capture her talent instead of unleashing her. Just seeing the aggressiveness and optimistic expectations of the next season, let alone the foreseeable future is what was demanded. Many of us saw the difference of CC entering the W, and Michael Jordan, Koby and LeBron, in that order, of entering there careers. The NBA had enough players and teams that it would take them some years to figure it out with when and how to take over. Not so in the W. The harness and lack of respect to Caitlin from her own coach and GM restrained how much more could have been accomplished. If not for them and worried about the veterans, who early on were not stepping up as a team to protect their star, who knows how much the team and her accomplished. I believe there were a minimum of 5-6 wins not realized to poor coaching and managing that team.

    Asking a team to improvise is good. As long as players move the ball. And doing screen-and-roll plays.. And having a few players downcourt for defense. While the others catch- up. From playing offense.
    A coach could start as an assistant coach. And learn from a main coach. Then, echoing that to become a better coach.
    At this level, teaching players is important.
    Constantly teaching them is what a coach needs to do.

    Your videos are sooooooo strong when you are talking about the actual game of basketball, especially basketball coaching. From my side of the computer, it's pretty clear that the Fever's defensive strategy when it got the lead was to slow down their own offense to give the opponent fewer scoring opportunities. That slow-it-down strategy obviously bit the team in the butt during the season, and eventually cost the coach her job. I also suspect that the coach determined before the season began that it was going to treat its superstar/generational talent exactly the same as it treats the 12th player at the end of the bench. The 12th player with 0 minutes played got minimal credit for team wins, as did the team's best player.

I believe this Unrivaled league was set up to give the players leverage in CBA negotiations with the WNBA and they were gonna strike CC made the WNBA actually popular though. The Unrivaled league in January is just 6 new teams with 36 players but they only have 33 players.

    It's hard to have a plan when your best players absolutely refuse to play defense by not keeping the player they're guarding in front of them, cheating away from their defensive assignments to try and grab a cheap rebound and are physically incapable of fighting through screens. Absolutely lazy on defense with no desire to get better. You have to WANT to play defense. No amount of coaching will change that if you don't have the heart to do it.

    @Mick this is where you’re at your best. When you TALK HOOPS. Bc you’re knowledgeable as fuck. When you speculate, talk percentages, Reddit/twitter gossip that’s where you lose me.

    Sides comes to the games for the court side seat and to get her cardio in on the sideline but coaching, not her job. Fevers are not winning because of Sides, they are winning in spite of Sides. Whats the sense of the new GM getting bonafide ballers on the Fever’s bus next season and giving Sides the driver keys to drive off a cliff? Someone please call Mark Jackson
