  • Join me as I head to my next park on American Coaster Enthusiast's Journey to Central Europe ‪@ridewithace‬ trip! This visit takes me to Efteling ‪@efteling‬ (Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands), one of the most amazing fairytale-themed parks in the entire world. This park boasts countless unique dark rides, including Symbolica, Dreamflight, and Fata Morgana. It also features numerous state-of-the-art roller coasters, including Baron 1898 and Joris en de Draak (which is not featured in this vlog, but is a fantastic dueling wooden coaster!). The overall theme of this park is what sets it aside from the rest, and this should be a bucket list park to visit for any theme park enthusiast!

    Villa Volta was the first Mad House for themeparks world wide. So every other Mad House is inspired by this instead of the other way around.

  • @Imaculata
    @Imaculata Месяц назад +29

    Fata Morgana is based on the tales of 1001 nights, which are like the ride, dark in tone. The stories feature beggars, thieves, wizards, magnificent creatures and djinns (what you called a giant troll). It is not a Pirates of the Caribbean clone, other than also being a boat ride. Villa Volta was the first mad house attraction of its kind in the world, though many more of its kind have popped up in other parks since. Vogel Rok is not a vulture, but a legendary giant bird from the tales of 1001 nights. De Vliegende Hollander is based on the legend of the ghost ship the Flying Dutchman.

      Efteling's Sprookjesbos opened in 1952, a couple of months (may 31, 1952) before Madurodam opened (juli 2nd,1952). Walt Disney was on study trip in Europe (several of those from 1952>1955 in the light of designing Disneyland) He visited Madurodam on one of the first days of it's opening. This is well recorded in the archives. There was no record of it, that he had visited Efteling has well. However, his days in the Netherlands were extreme hastily, and shortly after he sent back his first park designer Ken Anderson, to make an in depth study of Madurodam. It is my belief that Ken actually ALSO visited Efteling. Due to the striking fact that afterwards, Disney decided to RE-theme the projected castle in DL as a "Sleeping Beauty" one, with a walkthrough inside telling the story (juli 14th, 1955). It was exactly what Efteling had done in 1952, with the very first simple animatronics inside the castle, the forced perspective trick etc. (Got more complete history on Walt's design inspiration trajectory.)

    So you are actually mistaken. A lot of the older stuff like Fata Morgana was there before Disney ever implemented Pirates. Actually mr. Walt Disney payed a visit a long time ago to get inspiration for Disneyland, but also a lot of other themepark experts came to get inspiration.
    Efteling is way older than people think ;) Hope you enjoyed your stay tho.

      You are completly wrong. Pirates (the original one in California) was opened in 1967, Fata Morgana was opened in 1986. You're probably thinking about the one in Paris which was opened in '92.

    Python was one of the first big rollercoasters in NL. It was special enough, so didn't had a lot of theming at the time.
    Eventually lots of themeparks started with big rollercoasters and Efteling had the choice to go along with that, or go back to beauty and theming. They choose the last.

    Such a pity your music choice for the Fata Morgana ride totally doesn't match the ride's vibe. As does the music you chose for Dream Flight. While the original scores match them perfectly and will not get blocked (as you should know as an enthusiast). And yes you found out Efteling doesn't sugar coat (Disneyfy) every fairy-tale. It sticks much closer to the original storylines. And is therefore much/a little darker.

    • @Wig4
      @Wig4 12 дней назад +1

      I aggree totally. But the wording "darker" is rather total nonsense. If it was said "lifelike-realistic" , AND "atmospheric match", it would be a lot better 🙂
      I can see that the "MUZAK style" floodover of music in the whole video, was done out of fear that the video would have been refused by youtube's IP rights BOTS
      I do a lot of videos on music performances, and I know that most of the music is allowed to be re-used, if NOT monetised in publicity income. THAT is the deal ! :-)

    HAHA , Villa Volta > "nothing new there" .. It is what you can say from all others, not Villa Volta. Efteling made up the total concept for this ride, the whole experience. To work out their concept, Vekoma accepted to develop the technology, the machine, but under one condition : that Vekoma got the rights to sell and build the machine also to other parks. So, that's what happened. In reality those other parks use an Efteling experience concept, through a Vekoma machine. There was a wave of those shortly after Efteling introduced it, then a slow down and the last ever built was in 2011. Mack Rides copied the concept with a slightly different machine. (Still unsure this was a patent rights breach or not...)

      @@ZeNN-Music That is correct. But not "literally" > wrong word insert.
      "Inspired" = correct. Not "copy" or "rip off", which would be the implication of that word: 'literally'... . :-) :-) Inspiration means that the thinking and design proces started AFTER visiting Pirates of the Caribean. (Anaheim) >> Please check the word "inspiration" in the dictionary. The whole evolution of ART in the world (thousands of years) resides on a mix of 'inspiration' and 'creativity'.
      The project however encompasses a completely different theme, execution (design style) and mood. There exist several PotC rip-offs (just blunt bad and shameless copies) in theme parks around the world, like the one in Europa Park.. lol ... Efteling's Fata Morgana is NOT one. The theme foundation is the world of 1001 nights Arabian stories, and the design style is an ADAPTATION by designer Ton van de Ven , on the much older drawings of Anton Pieck from his travels to Morocco. Those drawings were picturing real life street scenes he met in Morocco (in the 1950-ies < onwards) They were never meant to be used for any theme park, but Ton van de Ven got also INSPIRATION (.. lol) out of those. (I met Ton van de Ven, about one year before he died)
