As someone who wanted to get into advertising, Ogilvy on advertising was brilliant. It didn’t complicate the way advertising works.

Ogilvy was one of the first to really expand principles like Big Ideas (Unique Angles / Stories to get attention and then convert it to sales)
But If I have to be completely honest...
You would be much better of studying people like Dan Kennedy, Russel Brunson or Frank Kern
(they also studied Ogilvy ofc but they expanded a lot on creating offers, attracting customers, educating them, building a relationship etc...)
If you are a marketer/copywriter read it nonetheless but you will not find a "step by step guide".
If you are just starting or want results "fast" you should go to Russel Brunson, Frank Kern, Dan Kennedy, Todd Brown etc...

      @@MadsGormLarsen Yeah sure.
The best thing would be to buy their courses but they're expensive.
The books cover everything they teach but they don't expand the concepts at 100%
Here are the top 5 books I would re-read first I was just starting out:
      1) Getting Everything You Can Out Of Everything You've Got by Jay Abraham (yes it's a complete marketing book)
      2) Magnetic Marketing Dan Kennedy
      3) Convert 2.0 by Frank Kern (you can get the pdf free)
      4) Russel Brunson's trilogy (Dotcom Secrets, Expert Secrets, Traffic Secrets + UNLOCK THE SECRETS - you should buy the trilogy because it's the only way to get "unlock the secrets" and it's very good)
      5) The ultimate Sales Letter by Dan Kennedy (copywriting)
bonus: Breakthrough Advertising by Eugene Schwartz (get the pdf, the book costs $180)
I would re-read these even tho I want to shortcut your way to success even more...
      AGORA FINANCIAL.
Agora is one of the biggest companies in the Direct Response industry (they made 1 billion + some years ago)
And that matters because their internal training is the best you will ever find on DRM and copywriting...
That's the same training that gets newbie copywriters to make 1 mil per year in 2-4 years of work.
I was able to watch it and I gotta say that their training + CopyAccelerator are the best training you will ever find...
(Copy accelerator is from 2 big copywriters - one did 1 billion in revenue with copy, the several hundreds of millions)
I'm gonna tell you the nitty-gritty that they teach in these courses:
      1) RESEARCH deeply the customers and past successful ads/marketing in the niche (the most important thing and where you will spend 90% of your time)
      2) Craft your messages (unique selling proposition = unique benefits that the avatar needs and that only you offer)
      3) IRRESISTIBLE OFFERS
      4) Attraction, education, conversion processes (aka "funnels" - convert a stranger to paying customer)
      4) BIG IDEAS
      5) LEADS (leads are the first 800 words of a sales letter, including the headline, and they dictate the success of yours)
Bonus: in the research, you want to understand the psychographics of your customers...
how they think, what are their problems, what are their desired situations AND what's their awareness level?
Are they aware that they have a problem or not? Are they aware that there's a solution or not yet? Are they aware that you product has the solution and is the best for them or not? Are they aware of your irresistibile offer and why they should take it now?...
If you master the research you master the copy.
      I'm sure this will help.
These are the principles that 7 fig marketers work deep on

While not Marilu Henner memory bankwise, I have an approximate idea of my days back then. Strange, no further info on IMDb or the internet in general. But true. Not really important. He does skew kind of Gasbag.
