Perfection, respect. Sophistication does not equate with intelligence. Advertising is not manipulation, it is articulation. Relating to the most opposing of viewpoints is an art form. I am very sorry I'll never meet Mr. Ogilvy. He reminds me so much of my Grandfather. There is a warmth there, behind the mantle of pragmatism.
This is an excellent video with great insight into one of the greatest minds in advertising who ever lived. Not to compare., but I can relate somewhat as I sold an expensive product door to door, and the sale took around half an hour as his did, and it changed my life forever. The experience was that valuable. I would highly recommend to anyone planning on working in this or a related field, such as public relations, that you first learn how to sell. In that manner you will understand how to communicate effectively, get your point across and create a positive impression on the other end.
I started studying marketing promotions a few months ago, i got hook when i notice that is an important element in the mkt mix, and people that work in that is creative, so creativity is important. Then i met agencies, what i could say as an insight is that is very common finding advertisers talking about themselves as a different discipline than a marketer, but i think that the proper name is marketing promotions. As a conclusion advertisers should be marketers. And that brings me confusion? .... to me keep on studying this thing.

"Following week he died"
LMAO
Great lesson from a great man. As a sales manager I recommend that my sales people follow these principles.

"The consumer's not a moron, she's your wife." Clearly he never met my wife.
