Love it. 101 of advertising. Often people forget that the basics still apply! Human nature remains constant. Platforms change, trends change, but the basics don't. Thank you, Dara!
Ogilvy and Hopkins are the goats of advertising. We can learn a lot from them. Researching your clients is the biggest advantage a marketeer can have right now.
Text only ads (where the image is just text) have been working well in our tests too. Having luck using similar strategy combined with long form educational content in the body copy and running them with a reach objective. Got the idea from Louis Engel’s ads. Thanks for this refresher.
Very nice to see some behind the curtain info about the founders of advertisements. Great stuff, especially when you show the today's ads vs the older ads ❤
Great content. One opportunity to make it even more enjoyable: Fewer quick cuts away from the ads and back to you, or quick cuts from you to you at a different angle. It feels like whiplash. Let the imagery breathe for a little longer.
Really helpful thanks Dara... Always so good to be reminded of the importance of a headline. Also it's intriguing to consider the emotional content of words..."darling" seems like such an old fashioned word but even as I say it to myself I can feel the warmth that it seems to generate. Thanks Dara...love your work darling :-) Jacky
I was thinking about getting this book. I’m sold now. It’s so different than what we hear especially when people are comparing older Apple campaigns “think different” I think it was. I could be wrong. But removing the stats and selling the community or feeling. Just purely for conversions sake do you feel like there’s a space for the overly simplistic or is it worth going higher into more copy, This was the first video I’ve seen of yours, excited to jump in.
Hi Dara, thanks for sharing all the awesome content. How do you efficiently compare and analyse hundreds of creatives across campaigns and ad sets? Do you use any tools? As some ads can have different performances across ad sets.
Thanks Dara Quick question related to your previous video: Based on your experience, what's the average CPM? CTR? Hook Rate? Hold Rate? In the US. (Maybe you can do a short video on this one and talk about different countries and type of creatives, because you were talking about comparing it to the average in this video but it's hard to do the comparison without knowing the average.)
This video was pretty different from my normal content... glad to see you enjoyed it!
Please make more like this

More to come!

I found this super helpful.
As a business owner, rather than a marketing agency / markeing specialist by trade, I found this particularly helpful.
Nice video dear dara. A great information you told about advertising by Ogilvy. Thanks a lot dear.
Super helpful, super interesting. Please do more!
Best video you've done imo. Please more content like this!
Yes. I would like to see more content like this. Could you break down just one at a time like the founder ad. Or the statistic ad?

Great insights on leveraging Ogilvy's principles in modern advertising.

You’re the best - love the classic turned new perspective. ❤
great content, nice change, thank you. Good to get more academic content rather than tutorials or strategy.
Might have missed a typo on the 2nd Ogilvy quote. Decades instead of Decodes.
I liked the video so much I bought the book.
Thanks Dara. I'm now going to dust off a stats/numbers ad idea that's been sitting around in my scratchpad.
Let us know how it goes!
one of your best videos / one of my favorites from you!
Yay! Thank you!
Great insight. Thanks
Enjoyed it! Great job!
Thank you!
Great content!!!

As some ads can have different performances across ad sets.

Loved his book, we can all learn from it. I think Puerto Rico Ad was not B2B though as the target was the consumer :)
But he made it to encourage businesses to come to Puerto Rico.
Darling, you made another great video.
Nice video ❤
I went to amazon to buy the book... then it tells me i bought it in 2015... digging it back out now!
😂love it
Yes make more
Thanks Dara

Get a platform like Varos to see the average for your industry.
20 years ago the Real Beauty campaign you mean in the 1980´s right? 😥
Yep... :)
