That's a pretty basic and obvious thing to say, as the whole reason of this show existense is how good was portrayal of a side character Xena by Lucy in Hercules series.
Dara Tynes - Sure does. You are so right! There have never been characters like X+G and I doubt there ever will be again. The part of that that sucks is that no TV show compares or can come close to the emotional power and impact... Xena gave strength to so many women (& young kids). New fans are being created as young people are starting to watch this on Netflix. My personal favorites are the episodes with the amazons, and, of course, When Fates Collide, although it is hard to watch knowing FIN is coming. :( I personally believe that LL and ROC did a lot for the LGBT community bc they put a lovable human face on a lesbian couple. These 2 straight women continue to be terrific allies... LL has a soft spot in her heart for LGBT kids and ROC for the community as a whole. Rob sure hasn't shied away from LGBT material). Give credit where credit is due. Now give Xena her damned MOVIE, Universal!
Xena Zon Damn skippy! Xena is the best series I've ever watched, LGBT friendly or otherwise, and X+G are without doubt the most perfect illustration of love, trust, and loyalty, the world over. They won my heart, they pushed all the boundaries that could possibly be pushed, they were classy -- and seeing LL and ROC as passionate as they are about their roles makes me happy. Xena is a classic, and it needs a damn movie!
i was in this episode, it was the only speaking role i ever had on Xena. i played one of the two young priests, named Democrates. i had been in the background of some other episodes, but this one felt special. i was laying unconscious on the slab next to Gabriel when Lucy was unleashing all that emotion. it was heavy duty stuff...
Oh my god I cried too. One off the few times I actually thought Gabriel was going to die (as if that would happen). Still watch my Xena collection.....its the BEST :-)

Knowing that it was a hard scene for Lucy to play, I still find it rather intriguing that she can't seem to control her accent anymore in the middle of the scene. at 1:12 when she says "you don't know anything!", you can clearly hear her accent come through. She could always keep it in check, so imagine how raw she must've felt at that moment. Amazing.
Now I feel like rewatching Xena and Hercules! I love both shows, it takes me back to when my dad was still alive and we watched it together every Saturday.

I think it's because that scene really speaks to her alot about people in general who would pass judgement on others for not being like them.
Xena and Hercules are timeless and timeproof. The more time passes the better they get. Wow they both look good and they could pull off a come back easy.
Oh yes I know right gabrielle came a long way one of my favorite characters from the show my favorite fight she did is when you remember when xena got her spine broken or out of place and gabrielle was killing all those soldiers to protect her even tho she did not like killing
When they did that scene, Lucy went for broke with her feelings, while Renee had to shut down and wait for the cue while being slapped, lifted, pummeled, ventilated, and screamed and wept over. Their memories of the experience are very different. :)
i was thinking the same thing! she gets "killed" by callisto's poison dart, gabrielle puts the pinch on her, she gets crucified, shes frozen for 25 years, she becomes a demon for saving callisto. its crazy! and yet its so good! lol
these are great great realities played out for somebody out there-NEVER GIVE UP-so people say so what its only a scene-THESE ARE TV EPISODES THAT ONE REMEMBERS WHEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS IS HAPPENING-not only Xena but for those casually watching any tv show that displays a rescue-there is hope where there is defiance to the impossible negative-great acting-it will be played out in real life somewhere because the actors have given their best to show the hope of it
a lot of writers miss this but contrast always makes things more emotional. having an emotional character cry when they usually wear their heart on their sleeve is not really that moving. having a character like xena, who rarely gets fazed by anything, lose her cool and start crying is a gut punch.

To me, it's up there, as one of the best scenes in the series. There are quite a few to choose from though, and that's what I love about the show.
