I use the brass wizard. Never had problems of different sizes of brass causing it to fall out. I can roll up 380 cal to 30-06 without losing brass. . 22 caliber will get caught between the wires and can cause it to fall out. The brass wizard is easier to roll than having to pick up the ammo product up and down. It is a little easier on the arm and shoulder. Both will work in grass up to 2 inches or so. Neither works well on gravel as it picks up both rocks and brass. The brass wizard also come with a wire "bracket" that fits on a 5 gal bucket that can dump the brass with. You don't have to do it by hand. They both work and you really can't go wrong with either one.
The Brass Wizard™ (the wire basket type) is missing the "Dumper" accessory. The "Dumper" clips onto the rim of a bucket and lets you empty the brass without touching the basket or brass with your hands. The "Dumper" should have come with it. If not, or if you lost it, call whoever you bought it from and get one. It makes the whole operation faster and cleaner.
How do these work on gravel? At my departments range it’s a gravel range. Some of the rounds get pushed into the gravel from being stepped on or if it’s wet out there they sink in a little.
i have a magnet broom i Use first to get the crappy steel cased stuff out of the way first then its mostly just brass left behind. The odd person shoots the crappy aluminum cased stuff that the magnet misses, but at my range we are required to clean up when you leave regardless, and since I dont wannt look like the one who left the mess (because there is always the assholes that think they are above cleaning) I pick up whatever I can regardless.
It's not too good in loose gravel. When we are on gravel ranges I consider it lost brass and all the newbies crawl around and pick it by hand. Works really well in sand and shorter grass though.
It kinda sucks but the gravel ends up being all you get. Anything bigger than the brass you're trying to pick let's the brass back out. Nothing I have tried has ever worked with gravel.
@@talas69 that's a huge let down. I have tried putting a tarp down and it works on none windy days and the initial setup is a bit of a pain trying to get it on the right spot
unfortunately the range that I love going to and that is closest makes the paying customer pick up their own brass after shooting. They are the ONLY ones that require it. This should be a function of the employees that work there... it's called customer service and HAVING A JOB!
You honestly think range officers have time to clean up after every shooter when the average Joe can’t load his gun without keeping his muzzle down range ? Every range I have been to makes you clean up after yourself ! Nothing worse than showing up to shoot and a bunch of spent casings all over the floor ! Always clean up after shooting it takes 5 mins and it can earn you respect and prevent someone from slipping !
@@camshaftshaft2711 yah I am not sure what he is on about. It is very common of a lot of the ranges around me to have to pick up after yourself. my personal club alot of members have gotten sloppy and we recently put out a notice that if you are caught not cleaning up it will be a suspension and a subsequent offense will see you terminated. Like you said it really does not take that long and it provides a safer and cleaner environment.
Fortunately this isn't a pansy activity. Entitled cowardly Karen thing believe it's "their job" to pick up your brass because you are a "paying" customer. Unless your disabled this is mangina behavior. My outdoor range RSO picks up brass as shooters leave and I am one of many who stops him and does the picking up my brass myself. It's called BEING AN ADULT!

I have used the two and found the Ammo-Up to work faster!

Anything on gravel sucks. I get a great collection of rocks every time I sort and you can see the surface I collect from.
great tool....if you only have re-loadable brass around. where i shoot. lots of junk.

@@talas69 so don't buy this if your in a gravel range? That's kinda sad to hear. Thanks for the response

Do they work well on grass ?
They do. Since this video I picked up a $5 flower bed rake to help get the stubborn ones in thicker grass but they both work for me.
@@talas69 does one work better in grass then the other?

RSLewis If they do this, you should just take it home with you. Alot of ammunition companies offer a brass credit when you return used brass casings
