Ryuunosuke Akutagawa did wrote a story about kappa civilization which is the main basis for Nitori and all unique things about her. But maid dio? Shed me some light on it.
Trivia: "Nitori" looks hurt and sorta sad for a second on the screens in the BG whenever you hit her. The fight pretty much captures her reactions to anything on the monitors.
In my mind, this is the *Real* Theme of Nitori, as much as I do enjoy Candid Friend's official versions as well. This song just better captures all the parts that make Kappa what they seem to be in this franchise. The Distortion that pops in places alludes to their technologic side, and while the peaceful flute gives the Naturalistic vibe that Kappa can give being attached to the rivers as they are, while also reminding us of Gensokyo the Gods Loved in that way, the faster the flute plays and the higher the Horns play behind it, the more you're reminded that despite the quirks, Kappa are more powerful than they sometimes are credited for. These things create tidal waves with their hands, and could literally eat your soul for lunch. Facing one is no easy job, and a Final Boss Theme like this conveys all of that far better than her original theme.
I dunno, I suppose it just took me by surprise. I'd seen bits of the Flandre fight from the Steam announcement so I kinda knew what to expect, but both Not-Nitori's landmines and twin MGs both blindsided me several times (never knew you could destroy her MG bullets though; I ended up using the Grip Knives to jump over that one).
for anybody stuck on this fight, you need to wait till nitori pulls out the machine guns, stop time, slide hit the bullet to go under her, use 2 chainsaws in stop time, unfreeze, freeze, and spam. you gain more time gauge from the bullets, you can easily knock off like 1-2k hp depending on how you do.
Alternatively, Thousand knives invincibility spam and dodge like your life depends on it. You can get an insane amount of Graze from the amount of projectiles Nitori throws

This is the best final boss theme I have ever heard, in the beginning its just like "your best nightmare" from Undertale and after that its just a banger with an amazing fight
The problem I have with most of the bosses in this game, among a few other indie titles, is the bosses feel like a checklist rather than a dynamic fight. They do the same thing in the same way every time and, while that's good for learning, it makes them really boring once you start going down the checklist. I really wish more of these games would put some randomness to the patterns. Some might say it's satisfying to learn and master the pattern, but it bores me to no end and feels like wasted potential for a better fight. Having random patterns would have to be ironed out so that an attack doesn't trap you, but that can be easily fixed by having the boss try to keep you in the centre, or straight just going there themselves after each attack. It's not even difficult to program. Flandre would be a much better challenge if her attack pattern was more random.
I don't particularly mind the bosses having a consistent pattern. It makes learning them a lot easier, yes, it somewhat takes away the difficulty, but if Reimu didn't follow a consistent pattern she would've taken me way longer to beat.
@@765craven4 I agree with you about the difficulty. I think I'd like there to be a difficulty option that allows a priority based attack pattern, or perhaps have the bosses in boss rush have said random pattern. But yeah, Reimu and I imagine Flandre would have a massive difficulty spike if you had to try and predict their moves on the fly, especially since they get 2 HP bars overall.
@@CountGraze To be fair, that's how touhou works, too. The characters use the same attacks in the same order each time, unless it's a variable boss like Patchouli or Satori.
@@kingman186 True, though I feel it fits better for a schmup than it does for this style. I keep coming back to the original Touhou games, yet only revisited Luna Nights for the Reimu update. It may just be my personal preference.
There's a version of Candid Friend that still isn't on RUclips! What happened to the data room theme or what's it called? The very calm and relaxing one that can put you to sleep.
Ok so flan can pilot a mech really well and i dont think people are acknowledging that. She can at least pilot a mech well enough to confidently go into rain which would kill her. Do we think that remi could pilot a mech?
OK, seeing Nitori sitting in the throne was a bit dissapointing, to the point I even preferred it was Flandre (which I really didn't want before). The fight is great though, don't get me wrong. And I did wonder how they would manage to make Nitori's theme into a final boss theme. Of course, except for some parts, it's pretty nailed. Still, now that I'm giving it a better listen outside the game, I can appreciate it much more.

Pretty much she acted more like Flandre than Nitori. Surprisingly, she can handle a mech without destroying it accidentally.
