You are both such incredible guys that work for each other. In my lifetime I have been in four relationships with my 3rd dying of AIDS after seven years and feeling lost after he died. Then after a few years single, I met my current partner having celebrated 28 years in January. I just can't believe that it's been that long but when your happy you don't think about time. I hope nothing but the best for you two guys. Seeing your videos makes me feel so happy watching the love you have for each other.

Love your channel and your energy!! Just wanted to comment on something that you said at the beginning od this episode - this is actually something I realized quite late in life but I made sure to tell my daughter that. It is not just two people being right for each other that will make or brake a relationship, there is a third "main character" that we often forget which is TIMING. So, it's not enough to just meet someone and click, you have to meet and click in a good time, otherwise what could develop into a lovely relationship can finish as just a couple meetings or nothing at all. Glad for you that you found each other in the good time. All the best!!!

Matthew! I'm the same! But instead of a 'maximizer' I call myself an 'optimizer', after the philosophical doctrine of an alien race in Arthur C Clark's book series Rama who are predominantly a race of engineers, scientists and other professionals.
I like the term because a maximum isn't always the best choice, but an optimum quite literally is the result of a search for the best!
Of course, it all stems from a kind of perfectionistic obsessive compulsion (thankfully not to the point of a disability), but over time I turned into my own little super-power, and 'Optimization' became my new obsessive passion!

June 10th 2016 was 2 days after I lost my wife to cancer. We had been married for 58 days. We were also in an interabled relationship. I am in a wheelchair. We brought our wedding forward because my wife's first and only diagnosis was a terminal cancer diagnosis on New Year's Day 2016. We had spent 2yrs fighting with Dr's who refused to listen and as a once medical professional myself, I knew her symptoms were serious. Anyway, after her diagnosis she had palliative chemo and we decided to bring our wedding forward as being married was beyond important to both of us. I had to wait for my late wife to set the date because, with any cancer diagnosis, a lot of things are outside your control so being allowed to control what you can is very important and also in my late wife's case, setting the date was also realising and having to come to the reality that she was dying. She set the date and my family organised it all within 3 weeks of her setting the date. Obtaining a marriage licence through these terms is actually a tough process and also a sad process as you meet soo many other couples who are in the same exact situation.
The hardest day was saying goodbye to my love. Another hard day was the day I had to get her death cert which also turned out to be the day we got our official wedding certificate and ironically, the celebrant we had for our wedding ended up being the same person who signed off and gave me my late wife death cert. She was so amazing and I won't lie, as a same sex couple, I was worried there was going to be looks or under their breath comments made by some staff but everyone was so nice and made sure the process was as simple and quick as possible.
Love is love and no matter how long you have your partner by your side, each day is amazing and valuable. ❤to ye both from a wet and cold,( it's summer apparently) Ireland

Question for Matthew, have you ever noticed people treating YOU differently because of Paul's blindness?
I ask because I'm in a wheelchair and I once met one of my partner's friends while out with him, the friend asked me a bunch of questions about my disability, asked me if I was disabled when I met my man, and when I said yes the guy turned his back on me to congratulate my partner for 'taking that on' and tell him what a good man he is. It was weird af and I still think about it 2 years later.
It's beyond weird, it's just rude in my personal opinion.😢

Omg I think I’ve had that border agent you had. I live in Vancouver too, and one time this agent walked past our car as we were being waved on and yelled to our agent “I’d make them go through again if they were in my lane because SHE,” (jabbing his finger at me) “was on her PHONE the WHOLE TIME!”
I looked down only at the end to google something before we hit data roaming in the states, and (more importantly) I wasn’t the one driving! I was in the passenger seat, and I made eye contact with her the rest of the time. I wasn’t trying to hide my face from her, and we had nexus so all she asked was where we were going and why.
I didn’t realize I wasn’t allowed to lose the imaginary staring contest I was supposed to have with someone who wasn’t even looking at me.
