I've been playing the OG FF7 on my Steam Deck with a bunch of mods installed, and I'm having a blast. It's the first time I've played the game since my first time completing it back in 97. I absolutely adore the FF7 world, it's lore and it's characters.
It’s insane that the comunity and the moders are the makers of a remaster for this game, and with an amazing quality. I’m a game developer and I can say this have been done with massive love and care, the true one.
Thank you again brother!! Once I get done with Rebirth I was hoping to use your mod tutorial for 7th Heaven to get my Steam copy up and running again, give it a nostalgic go. I replayed it vanilla like... five years ago now I think, so it's high(wind) time I give it another go. These gentlemen are true gifts to the community, hope to goodness Squeenix lets them keep at it and doesn't do that odd recent Bethesda stuff. Honestly with how incredible this is, they ought to just let them make an updated port for the PS Store, so folk have a choice 'tween that, Ever Crisis, and vanilla. Although FF8 is my personal FFVII (if that makes sense), I’ve been enjoying watching the mod updates for both FF7 and FF8 even though FF7’s are much more extensive compared to the OG! I just have to carve out some time this year or next year to plsy these two games on Steam Deck with all the mods. I know they’ll feel like new experiences especially with the voice acting! It’s also probably why I’ll never go back to console with the things PC / PC handhelds can do to reinvent games (like these two examples above). Can’t wait!
I'm terrified of deep water too. And I will never forget the terror I felt when I used the submarine to explore... as soon as it went underwater I found Emerald in front of me, waiting. I haven't used the submarine since that time hahaha However, your video took me back in time and made me want to play again! Thanks for the video!

I've been playing this game since 97 I've replayed it over and over again, did everything you can do in the game and at 64 still playing it. If I ever end up in a nursing home I know how I'll be passing the time😂

@@brijor6ff7 so from what Cosmos told me, to fully have widescreen no black bars you have to only have the “cosmos limit break” mod active, so no need for the “dds file” or “syw v5 backgrounds” active
@@brijor6ff7 look in my video and make sure you have the “mesh” and “widescreen” in the additional folders. If they don’t show click “reset defaults” and they should come up. If your a Steam deck user it’s a different process.
So gld that the remake and mods for the OG are coexisting. I love the remake but id also love to see a super remaster to the OG. Maybe even after pt3 releases we cam get a mod of the og using remake graphics. Possibilities are endless.

I haven’t played FF7 since I was a teenager. I don’t have modern day consoles nor a gaming PC, so I can’t run any of remakes. I started playing FF7 on PC with 7th heaven mods, and having an absolute blast!
New kotr looks great, but the sound is off on it - the first axe knight that has the complex flourish has an incredible wind-up/strike that's missing here and it makes the gameplay feel more hollow. Thanks for the showcase.
This is almost too polished in a way where you expect reworked higher resolution textures. I mean FF7 in its original form it was pushing the boundries for what the PSX was capable of. In this case, it more looks like a cheaply made mobile game almost. 😖 Update: Ok just saw that the pre rendered backgrouns were quite reworked. 😅
awesome video man. with that said i cant find the syw world and field textures. Well I can but not the V5 version you have? When i go to lunamods the only ones that I found are available are already in the catalog under 7th heaven. I only ask because with cosmos gaia mod it forces to deactivate the field and world textures. Except on your video you have it active?

Not sure why cosmos Gaia is doing that. I put mine all the way at the bottom so it’s last priority. I haven’t messed around with it since this video but im going to have to give an updated video now

Cosmos Gaia really is ridiculously awesome, a total game changer especially with the airship. You can also use Combined HD world textures with it if you load Gaia right after. In 4k it's absolutely stunning. One of the best for sure.
I want to try out this setup but I don't see "HD Field Scenes (Qhimm)" or "Moddershaven Base Model Pack" showing up in the browse section, do I need to source them elsewhere?
Yes they are on nexusmods.com, download them and import to 7th heaven with the import button on the right side. I have tutorials on the channel at your leisure

One more thing, I was looking at the "SYW V5" texture mods a few hours ago but now they seem to be updated to "SYW Unified" texture mods, and it says the field texture mod will not work with Cosmos Limit Break mod. Do you think that has to do with the update or did I do something wrong?
@@DaDinkler so with the cosmos limit break, after I made this video I learned that if you’re going to use the limit break mod it’s best to only have that active, so the Syw texture mods don’t need to be used nor do the qhimm he field scenes, since it will cause some problems. So basically if you want to use limit break and have true widescreen you only need “cosmos limit break” on
This is exactly what i wanted in a FF7 remake, not this new age shite they have done with the new one's. I wanted to play FF7, not a game that's similar to FF7 so this mod is fucking awesome.
I usually just play the og as is once a year (or two) but I have been meaning to try out some mods. Next playthrough will be the FFVII international version (jp) though so will have to be after that.

Very beatifull this mod. I think I was only one who scary about emerald weapon. Its so freak, really cant imagine it on ff7r p3. Meridian ocean is so big, many dark parts and this big dump junky freak awaiting for you there... Damm. Dont know if this fight will be similar like the original.

I think in the settings you can turn that off, what build are you using, I’m using the canary build which is like a beta version of it. I have videos on my channel explaining how to make this work

Hey thank you! Appreciate that. For modders haven, you have to go to nexus.com and search for it there in the ff7 mods then download and import to 7th heaven using the import button
I have tried getting this to work, uninstalled / re-installed everything 3 times, I downloaded the same mods you have in the video and whenever I go to run the game it just opens a black FF7 window for a few seconds then exits. Any ideas how to fix it?
Could be a lot of things, I can think of 3. Make sure the the file location of ff7 steam in set up correctly. Try using the auto sort button so the mods can work in the right order, and are you using the canary build? make sure the FFNx driver is up to date
@@OtenP_ I reinstalled FF7 from steam, double checked the file paths, tried the auto sort button, made sure canary build and FFNx is up to date, but still does the same thing. just opens up a black FF7 window for a few seconds like its going to run then just exits and does nothing. even tried switching off all the mods just to see if it would run and it made no difference.
@@Alex-1776 since you turned off the mods and tried it and still doesn’t work then it’s something with the manager set up, or it could be a mod you’re using that isn’t compatible with one. They have done a lot of updates to the 7th since I’ve made this video. I would suggest joining tsunamods discord and going to mod help. Those guys there have a way better understanding of all this than me
There's some way to make all that stuff on Final Fantasy 8? I know that Square already make a remaster of FF8, but watching this video I was wondering if FF8 have the same treatment of this FF7 mod.
There is but it’s not as easy nor simple as this mod manager. With 8 you have to download so many files and go into the games directory and replace files. I’ve done a little bit of it. Tsunamods does have a launcher for their echo s8 project but it’s only for the voices.

@@BergsonHC anytime man, not quite sure where to find a Portuguese translation. I would check out nexusmods.com I think I’ve seen language translation on there not sure
Are you sure you checked everything, in the additional folders to monitor has to have wide screen, make sure ffnx driver is up to date, also if you’re in stable switch to canary that could help. Finally make sure you are at the correct aspect ratio for your monitor in the settings. There’s so many possible variables. If you’re still having issues join the tsunamis discord and go to mod support page and they will be much better help
@@OtenP_ well Q is how to debug the issue. No Im on stable because as I understand that patch was released originally around 2years and I didn't anything else than stable is required? My res is 3440x1440 which should be 16:9 - but again I tried more than one setting, no dice. What works with 16:9 is a lower res like 1080p.
I think the only thing I don't like is the Knights of the Round. The one where all the knights are characters from previous Final Fantasy games seems more fitting. But that's a personal nitpick.
Yeah I’m sure with time, gotta keep in mind that this game is very old, wasn’t meant to be seen in true widescreen with graphically enhanced resolutions. But yes, those issues need to be addressed

Chances are, in a few years fans will mod the remake we want. SE will provide so much assists with their new games and FF7 has such a talented fanbase I'm 100% we will get it :)

I've installed Cosmos Gaia but all I get is black textures on the world map, with a few exceptions like the junon canon, character and vehicles models. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and what to do about it? Edit: Stopped being a moron and paid attention to the video, after double checking mesh and widescreen there in the menu, it was fixed.
@OtenP_ hey i just downloaded the cosmo limit break feild mod, how do u like it compared to the project edge/ team avalanch field mod? I feel like the cosmo looks a bit ai while the edge/avalanch one feels much more real and hand crafted. But i think it doesnt cover all the feilds, unfortunately u cant use one and have the other subnout the empty spaces
@@4biddeninja yes, I love the project edge for sure, but exactly how you explained it it’s not finished. So if you want an uninterrupted experience then yes go with limit break, it’s all preference but I really do love project edge.
@@ClyntHollowsI find the easiest way and recommended is a steam verison. The game was on sale a few months back for 3 dollars and some change. If it’s a regular price check out CDKeys.com that’s where I got mine for like 6 dollars

i'd say you need to work on adding more inflection into your commentary, because it sounds a bit subdued, like, depressed and a bit robotic. instead of: "it is truly a game changer." should be: "It is TRULY, a game changer!"
canary is a beta build, has more features and some mods work better, but being a beta it’s not fully tested so game crashing could happen. Stable is like the name suggests, it’s a stable build of the manager. So less bugs since it’s been tested
Once again, the fans do what Square don't. Just glad that they cannot take down these fan mods the same way they did to the Chrono Trigger 3D project nearly 20 years ago.

One more thing, I was looking at the "SYW V5" texture mods a few hours ago but now they seem to be updated to "SYW Unified" texture mods, and it says the field texture mod will not work with Cosmos Limit Break mod. Do you think that has to do with the update or did I do something wrong?
@@DaDinkler so with the cosmos limit break, after I made this video I learned that if you’re going to use the limit break mod it’s best to only have that active, so the Syw texture mods don’t need to be used nor do the qhimm he field scenes, since it will cause some problems. So basically if you want to use limit break and have true widescreen you only need “cosmos limit break” on

The launcher wont aloow me to have cosmo gaia and SYW worldmap textures on at the same time, a pop up states that they conflict with each other

Very beatifull this mod. I think I was only one who scary about emerald weapon. Its so freak, really cant imagine it on ff7r p3. Meridian ocean is so big, many dark parts and this big dump junky freak awaiting for you there... Damm. Dont know if this fight will be similar like the original.

I think in the settings you can turn that off, what build are you using, I’m using the canary build which is like a beta version of it. I have videos on my channel explaining how to make this work

I have tried getting this to work, uninstalled / re-installed everything 3 times, I downloaded the same mods you have in the video and whenever I go to run the game it just opens a black FF7 window for a few seconds then exits. Any ideas how to fix it?
Could be a lot of things, I can think of 3. Make sure the the file location of ff7 steam in set up correctly. Try using the auto sort button so the mods can work in the right order, and are you using the canary build? make sure the FFNx driver is up to date
@@OtenP_ I reinstalled FF7 from steam, double checked the file paths, tried the auto sort button, made sure canary build and FFNx is up to date, but still does the same thing. just opens up a black FF7 window for a few seconds like its going to run then just exits and does nothing. even tried switching off all the mods just to see if it would run and it made no difference.
@@Alex-1776 since you turned off the mods and tried it and still doesn’t work then it’s something with the manager set up, or it could be a mod you’re using that isn’t compatible with one. They have done a lot of updates to the 7th since I’ve made this video. I would suggest joining tsunamods discord and going to mod help. Those guys there have a way better understanding of all this than me

There's some way to make all that stuff on Final Fantasy 8? I know that Square already make a remaster of FF8, but watching this video I was wondering if FF8 have the same treatment of this FF7 mod.
There is but it’s not as easy nor simple as this mod manager. With 8 you have to download so many files and go into the games directory and replace files. I’ve done a little bit of it. Tsunamods does have a launcher for their echo s8 project but it’s only for the voices.

Widescreen isn't working for me on 4K... it simply doesn't do it regardless of the settings. 🙄
Are you sure you checked everything, in the additional folders to monitor has to have wide screen, make sure ffnx driver is up to date, also if you’re in stable switch to canary that could help. Finally make sure you are at the correct aspect ratio for your monitor in the settings. There’s so many possible variables. If you’re still having issues join the tsunamis discord and go to mod support page and they will be much better help
@@OtenP_ well Q is how to debug the issue. No Im on stable because as I understand that patch was released originally around 2years and I didn't anything else than stable is required? My res is 3440x1440 which should be 16:9 - but again I tried more than one setting, no dice. What works with 16:9 is a lower res like 1080p.

I think the only thing I don't like is the Knights of the Round. The one where all the knights are characters from previous Final Fantasy games seems more fitting. But that's a personal nitpick.

ff8 is way more meticulous work to make it work with mods. FF9 has a mod manager as well but its way more simple than this, it's called the moguri mod
omg knights of the round background effects are so broke in pc version, i hope modders think about that and also sephirot supernova still need a fix.
Yeah I’m sure with time, gotta keep in mind that this game is very old, wasn’t meant to be seen in true widescreen with graphically enhanced resolutions. But yes, those issues need to be addressed

every time i open 7th heaven, the mods are all sorted differently...should i keep it that way or change how you have arranged them every time i open up the manager?
Auto sort will 99% of the time sort them the correct way is what I was told. No idea why they get reshuffled every time

I've installed Cosmos Gaia but all I get is black textures on the world map, with a few exceptions like the junon canon, character and vehicles models. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and what to do about it?
Edit: Stopped being a moron and paid attention to the video, after double checking mesh and widescreen there in the menu, it was fixed.

@OtenP_ hey i just downloaded the cosmo limit break feild mod, how do u like it compared to the project edge/ team avalanch field mod? I feel like the cosmo looks a bit ai while the edge/avalanch one feels much more real and hand crafted. But i think it doesnt cover all the feilds, unfortunately u cant use one and have the other subnout the empty spaces
@@4biddeninja yes, I love the project edge for sure, but exactly how you explained it it’s not finished. So if you want an uninterrupted experience then yes go with limit break, it’s all preference but I really do love project edge.

What's the difference between the CANARY build and the STABLE Build?
canary is a beta build, has more features and some mods work better, but being a beta it’s not fully tested so game crashing could happen. Stable is like the name suggests, it’s a stable build of the manager. So less bugs since it’s been tested
