Thanks for bringing this glitch back to light. Yes, it existed in both PC versions of the game that required discs the FF7 platinum edition. As well. We would just trade faith files instead of going through it manually each time though. Walking around with all of your characters at level 99. Also was fun.
This is really cool, but I don't like the comments saying it's bad code, it’s not a case of “dumpster code” or bad code, you have to remember they need to be efficient with writing code and pointers. So having them all 6 for example more efficient a different number per character. Also there should be no way that yuffie can be in the party twice so why would they code an edge case for that?
I've played through every numbered FF through XV. I lost faith in SE when they broke their promise for all the XV DLCs. Seeing this video has me itching to play VII again.
a bit like Phantasy Star Online I&II's duplication glitch. basically the glitch can happen because the character, due to a specific setup, can freely move while looking at the items in a shop (which was not intended to happen) and developers did not foresee that. in the end you open up two different menus which both look at your stack of items at hand. in one you drop it, in the other you still have it. then by carefully selecting the right option you deposit the same item in the bank and end up having two copies of the same item: one on the floor (can be picked up) and the other in the bank. I know it's cheating but it can save a crapload of time (especially for rare or powerful items) and it's used in some speedruns.
To be fair, FFVII was so riddled with bugs that it almost didn't happen. The devs just barely managed to get it into working order within a week of the final deadline.
Well, as cool as double every materia could be, I have no trouble completing this game without it 🤔 still would be nice to not have to level up a bunch of double cut materia 😂
I know i've mentioned this before and most agreed. When are they putting this guy and tsunamods NPC's in the remake, just out of pure bloody respect for what they both do for the FF7 community.
Man to think that I've re-played FF7 about 30 times since the 90's when I first played it (still the best FF game in the franchise in my honest opinion), and STILL never got kotr summon because I could never breed the right chocobo (and finding it too tedious to keep re-trying after a couple of failures).... XD

@@Windraesa Not sure why I didn't think of that. But at that point, aren't there any that you can't get anymore?
@@RetroFanatic-Trapster2 As long as you haven't defeated Godo, you can still get trine. That and Pandoras box as the main 'can miss forever' enemy skills
Damn, this is awesome! I can't imagine the kind of combos you can do with just as many dupes as you want of any materia! If there are any combinations left to discover? Im not aware of every single one, but i know theres so many
It's crazy how glitches are still being found for this amazing game :)
Yuffie is genuinely a harbinger of the biggest critical weakness in the fabric of the universe, I think she needs to be sealed away in an evergaol to atone for her actions
Truly one of the glitch of all time. Sad that I missed the stream!
Love that stuff like this is still getting discovered 27 years later
Thanks for bringing this glitch back to light. Yes, it existed in both PC versions of the game that required discs the FF7 platinum edition. As well. We would just trade faith files instead of going through it manually each time though. Walking around with all of your characters at level 99. Also was fun.
That amount of hours i spent on this game , used guides, books , anything i could get my hands on and loved it all
This pretty cool. Amazing were still discovering stuff 20+yrs later
Awesome work bro. I love your dedication to the game :)
Dude im just starting a play thorugh og ff7 this is so awesome that this is unlocking all these secrets
Another awesome vid death, thank you!
As an OG FF7 player. I applaud you! You are the genius the child in me wish I was. Thank you for always refreshing this legendary game 🙌
Thanks for this, just tried it on my ps5. Works great.
Good thing Steal Materia is so low on Yuffie's list, ironically enough. And the weapon you get to immediately steal (from a Weapon!) is for her too.
I want to watch someone maxed out with all of these materia take on some bosses now. Very cool discovery.
You can basically bring most materia to close to max, dupe them and then master both. BAM! 4 of each Materia.
Final Fantasy VII; the game that LITERALLY never stops giving.
Man, that bot attack was crazy. Ofcourse it happens right during the mega materia duplication glitch like, “look, we can duplicate too. 😝” 😂
Makes me want to play this game again. ❤
Dude, that's sick! I'm going to dupe Materia like a crack fiend! After 20+ this game ceases to amaze me.
Man to think that I've re-played FF7 about 30 times since the 90's when I first played it (still the best FF game in the franchise in my honest opinion), and STILL never got kotr summon because I could never breed the right chocobo (and finding it too tedious to keep re-trying after a couple of failures).... XD
This damn game came out back in 1997 and we're still finding glitches
will this also work on the original japanese version?
Zhu will be honoured with you guys this is awesome guys i listen to this to on my Spotify
Unbelievable! What an amazing find, so late. **Victory Theme Plays**
That's wild! Just play through 95% of the game, pull five different potentially game breaking glitches and Bob's your uncle ya got X2 materia!
I in my mid 40s and played this when it first come out. (Yes i old man who still enjoy gaming) I have a odd memory that this was known way back when it first come out.
Perhaps you confuse it with W-item glitch that duplicates items? That was widely known back when the game came out.
This whole thing seems way different than anything known back then.
Man!!!!!!!! Death ☠️ this game has been amazing me since 1997!!!
my mother f-in youtube hero!! Im gonna have to upload my own video game discoveries soon (sadly not for a game as good as FFVII, but heck i'll take it)
Amazing. Its still my favorite phone game to this day.
Back at it again at materia dupe
_Sister Ray shatters every window of Shinra Building_
This just made my whole day
hey thanks for the video. always enjoy your content.
So I was right, huh? That it’d be another summon dupe… didn’t expect for *that* many though
I'm currently playing through FF7 on my Miyoo Mini+, I guess I'll have to do this
death when you say you KNOW the code you sound like you KNOW the code. like to the point where you probably have ff7.exe hard wired into your brain at this point. You literally liked ff7 so much you downloaded the code into your understanding so you could BECOME final fantasy 7. you are a legend been watching for years!
I love this, so close to Rebirth and the ff7 community is on tare! I cant wait for a new no slots skip and the speedrun community goes limit break mode
