Man #6 takes the cake for me. There is just something special about burgundy ties and navy suits. Is like peanut butter and jelly or salt and pepper. Great video as always sir.
Impressive...simple but highly sophisticated.......wonderful looks for the well dressed gentleman......keep spreading your wonderful knowledge...PEACE sive
Great looks! #3 and #8 were my fav for this one, and I agree with one of the other comments, it would have been great to have showed off your shoes in at least a few of the looks (though I imagine that must mean a lot more work!).
Me and a buddy of mine have an appointment for our first tailored suit, exciting! I want a navy suit with a very subtle pinstripe so the pinstripe is visible when people are close but when looking from far away it looks almost like a plain navy suit. I couldn't find examples of this idea, but your suit is spot on to the one I want, so I will use your suit as a reference for the tailor! Thank you! I want peak lapels because I have pretty broad shoulders, so we we will not have the same suit 😜
LOVE that you have discovered and love Viola Milano ties. They are beautifully made (and beautifully presented) ties that I have become obsessed with. I have curated quite a collection. ;-)
Black cap-toe oxfords is the classic option for any suit. If you want to be more casual choose a black penny loafer instead. The key thing is to have a shade darker shoe than the color of your suit. So a deep burgundy or dark brown would also work fine with a navy suit.
#9 looking good; but I like the solid shirts with the statement ties best. :) Also: 1) please post a comment/IG/whatever on what knot you are using with these looks, and 2) on an off-the-shelf dress shirts, when the neck is too tight, is it better to go 1/2 size larger and be a bit loose or remain a bit too tight when in between standard sizes? Thanks. Happy Holidays!!!
Thanks for chiming in! Can definitely do a tutorial--it's a bit like a Nicky Knot but with a little variation. As for OTR shirts, I would size up. That way, when you wash the shirt and it shrinks a bit, you're still able to wear it and perhaps it will even be the right size.
I do appreciate you showing some love for Drake's, plus that Sexton shirt is beyond gorgeous. However, those ultra dark shades of navy that could easily be mistaken for black just don't float my boat. Maybe it's an archetypal american thing that I simply don't get as a european. Can't fault the cut, though. Cheers!
Look #3, #4 and #9 were magnificent! I am considering buying a navy blue suit, and I have a question for you: Do you recommend dark navy blue or light navy blue for my first suit?
Thanks Brian! I have one last question: I am 18, 5'8½ and 145lbs; when it comes to a suit trouser, which pant break would suit my body type and age the most?
Aziz Quadri you are almost exactly my size. No break or very slight break. And you want to make sure the lag is tapered. Some where in the 14-15” zone for leg opening.
I have a black suit and looks absolutely exactly as this one, even the fabric looks the same color.... The suit in this video looks black to me, I see no navy color suit. I checked suit fabric on the site and is same as my suit. Vitale Barberis Canonico
I really love your channel but for me as a European, I have to admit that i didn't like most of the combinations. Eventhough the striped ties may be of high quality, they don't present this high quality very well. The dimple at the dark grey/black tie is way too big and the shirt presented with the brown tie is way to informal for that suit. Maybe I just don't like the combination of a very plain and standard navy suit with really extravagant choices concerning the ties and shirts and the huge dimple. However, I do like the other looks and I am of course looking forward to watching your new videos.
Do you think a navy suit is more versatile than a dark blue suit? I find the latter easier to pair with more casual items but still able to be run w/ more formal shirts and ties. I think it's more versatile for this reason.
Navy and dark blue are pretty interchangeable in my book. There are tons of gradations of navy blue, but when I think of an uber-classic navy suit, it's on the darker side.
@@hespokestyle I really like your turtleneck & frames! #2, 4, 5 & 10 are great ties, and i am a fan of your tie dimples. by the way, please accept my invitation to connect on linkedin. cheers!
Very good combinations! Nothing is gaudy or exuberant in your proposals. Last thing a man needs is to look like a pimp or an aspiring drug dealer. Thank you!
Which combo was your favorite?
Denim shirt?! Damn! You are a rebel!!! All great looks by the way, the last one surprised me, in a good way...
A denim shirt is a great way to dress down your suit!
I can’t deciiiiiide, love all combos!
They’re all great, but I think # 8 is my favorite.
Brown gingham pattern shirt! I’m a teacher and I want to stay away from the conservative look as I want students to feel that they can approach me. Already have a denim.
#6 and #10 are very nice. Navy suit with a burgundy tie just seems like a match made in heaven. That denim shirt in #10 is a winner.
Awesome! Thanks so much for the comment and support!

Collar pin and tie pins is a beautiful accessory. It gives a very framed and fit vintage look to one's outfit

i love the tie knots he's wearing. i wonder if it's the old bertie? they look not too small, not too big, but just right and slick.

Waltski many thanks. Appreciate the comment!
Hi Brian !! I like led your tip of combining patterned shirt with plain tie and vice versa .
Excellent! Always a good way to go.

Wonderful video, Brian. Could you give us your views on the proper width of a tie?
Many thanks! I tend to prefer 8cm widths. 8.5cm is also a classic width.
Thank you Brian you saved me a lot of time
Loved the combination and explanation about them! Cheers :)

Great video Brian.
I would love to see a video on floral ties.
I am here for those tie dimples!

How do you feel about pick stitching and are there any particular suit patterns where it should be avoided?

Can you wear a burgundy tie for a summer afternoon formal event?

Kunal Choudhary it’s sort of like a Nicky knot with a little variation.
what about the Navy blue suit and combo sir. Can u wear it?? and show please that which tie may perfect to use on navy blue suit. thanks in advance
That's this video...
I have never seen that collar pin thing before in real life :p is it common in usa?
You'll typically see collar bars before pins. Didn't have a gold tone collar bar so I went with the pin to match the yellow and golds in the tie.
Could you do this with a black suit please?
Other than a tux, I don't own a black suit. So, no!
General question- is it normal for the suit shoulders to fold / bend inside like that specially when your shoulders are moving?
How many ties do you have Brian?
5:25 very good excelent suits ties CORBATERO
