I'm a 50 yr old black man, I remember hearing this on the radio all day damn near every 20 min. Couldn't help but feel the beat and the chorus. Pat was killin it back then. 💯
I was in a dance group back then. We always did this dance when class was over 😄😄
I agree 💯!!! I remember hearing it on an R&B 📻 station when our mom moved us to Georgia from jersey from 82 to 84. I thought she was black till I saw the 🎶 video. I used to do the whole dance routine from the video in my mom's living room every time the 🎶 video came on. Great memories 👍🏽.
First song I sang karaoke in a bar with my sister, was fun"*!
I am a white man from South Africa. Music transcends. Mutual respect goes a long way.
Oh wow that's neat! I just can't believe it! Holy cow!
I grew up in an abusive home. This song came out when I was a young teen. It truly got me thru some terrible times. I dressed like her, cut my hair like her, sang her songs nonstop. All her music seemed to be written just for me. Hell is for children was another favorite. I'm 51 now and she will always be my favorite. All my friends know if PAT comes on the radio to turn it up and stand back cause I'm about to belt it!
I'm sorry to hear that :(
sorry to hear ...a home should be a safe space. Especially for the children.
It's awesome your friends know the 'know.
Stand back peeps.
This is my song.
was the first song that spoke to me during a breakup.
I'm a drummer. And love jamming this track.
Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you had her, her influence, the way you drew inspiration from similar situations. kool
Same! The first scene with her father reminds me of how bad my mother actually still is, with no contact, but I still don't understand as now a mother myself I would/ could never treat my kids this way they are my world. ❤
@@jennifervillegas4442 I hate to hear you went thru something similar. I've been very fortunate to have a good relationship with my parents now. They got a divorce when I was 25 and that helped alot. Don't ever stay in a terrible marriage for the children. You could be damaging worse by remaining. I am 51 now and realize my dad was in an abusive home growing up himself and he was only doing his best. He's turned out to be a great man and a great dad. Angry and withdrawn? Yes but still a very good man.

Thank you 80s and Thank you MTV! What a glorious time to grow up.
That’s when mtv was real

But absolute nothing!
I think it it was the best decade for music and many other things out of the entire 20th Century! Not as far as I'm concerned and many others as well.

Yup!!! A very transitional decade, I didn't even understand it as I grew up in it. I weep as we now regress before it humanity wise. This was before Queen(Freddy) even came out. Shit man, it was the Cosby decade! America loved black people.
Oh, what 100 years from now people will think of us(2017), when the 80's had it so clear with all it's heavy make-up, big hair, neon glory, but people were people and live and let live was a common theme.

Pat benatar was a lady who was on fire and at the height of her powers in the 1980s
I can remember when this early 80s cracking tune was released in September '83
Really incredible power ballad ❤
Released 36yrs ago TODAY!! September 12th 1983.... And still as amazing as EVER
Pizz Off I was 5 yrs old at that time. I remember this song from the movie "The Legend of Billy Jean"
WOW!!!!! 36 yrs later, and it seems like the song was just released!! Just goes to show us, that GREAT music is Timeless!!

Your not a survivor, your a warrior.
Make new history, discard the old.

Released 3 months after I graduated from high school. Wow, that was fun.
Pure music and pure energy to revitalize the soul. I was 15 years old when this song came out and still listening at 55.😂
I was 16 & I'm still Jamin 2 it

I was 12 now, 49😅😅😅
The music video is about the best story you will ever see.
I was 10, I fell in love with the song😊
I am a 16 yo and I really love this song even though not a lot of teens know of it in the actuallity
I will never forget the first time I heard this song, was on an R&B station in Georgia . I'm originally from New Jersey but our mom had moved us to Georgia from 1982 to 1984 and then we moved back to New Jersey. This song right here is everything to me and my childhood. I used to dance around my mom's living room to this song every time the music video came on . I knew the whole routine front to back😊 This is going to sound funny but at the time when I heard the song on the R&B radio station I thought she was black, man was I wrong when the music video came out. And I'm so glad I was wrong. Plus the icing on top of the cake was the same guy that choreographer the Beat It music video by Michael Jackson also choreographer this music video by Pat Benatar Love is a Battlefield. He even appears in the music video. Classic song, classic music, real music. And I am still to this day at 51 years old a Pat Benatar fan. Here's Food For Thought : Did you know that Pat Benatar had released a jazz album. And I still have it. I highly recommend Pat benatar's Jazz album it is a chef's kiss. I will always and forever be a Pat Benatar fan😊❤ #PatBenatar4life 😊❤by💯

What I love about the 80's music videos is that they were Short Films. Music videos now have no stories or creativity whatsoever.
I agree 100000000%
sooo true
90's music videos had multi-minute intros and frankly, it was too much
#chowdowndetroit agree 👍🏽!! We can thank Michael Jackson for the art of music videos back in the day. When Michael Jackson would always Premiere a new music video, it was like the art of story telling being told through 🎶 . It was like a movie premiere premiere . Michael Jackson was very creative. He started the art of creation and the making of a music video by telling and showing a story . These music videos that are out now by some artists seem like there's no thought put into it. Not enough creation just basically following the trend. Thank you, MJ, for the art of creative and storytelling through music videos. R I.P. #MichaelJacksin
#MJF4L ❤️💯
@EricMuranoAU I disagree. The 80s and the 90s were the best decade for music videos. We can thank Michael Jackson for that because he was so creative looking at a music video when he would Premiere it was like watching a mini movie. He was a true artist that could tell a story not through just with words and rhythm and sound but also visually telling the story through video. #MichaelJackson❤️💯
In the video 30 year old Pat Benetar plays a girl half her age. Her father (Trey Wilson) is actually only 5 years older than her. ;-) Great 80's song.
rif42 So you're saying that her father had a child at 5 years?
It was common in the 80's to have 30-year old actors playing 16-year olds, so it didn't really even stick out in that context
Bunghole.
rif42 .....She was 30 in this video!!!!!?????😮😮😮😮😮 are U kidding me???? She looks super young. Wow!!!

@@scout27xx rock on sister. I went and seen Muse with my son and I've seen lots of concerts, and k have to say that muse was the best concert I've ever been to.
People ask me why do I listen to "old music" still. The answer is simple: Its better! Not to be biased but the 80's-90's music was the best. Everything from Pop, Rock, Hip-hop, and R&B. And this song is one of the greats!
+Dwight “Denjin” Johnson The reason why people think older music is better is because nobody plays the crap 80s and 90s music. There's just as much good music nowadays, there just seems to be less of it because you hear all the bad and mediocre music at the same time.
+SunBeast66 I respectfully disagree. As the time passes, less and less substance can be found in songs. A lot of remakes, sampling, and regurgitated lyrics, and sound.
Dwight Johnson
Music taste is entirely subjective though. I'm sure people from the 40s would have complained at the time about how terrible 80s and 90s music is.
+Dwight “Denjin” Johnson I totally agree. The markets have changed so much and with all the new technology and how fast information gets out the music industry is more about the next poster and download they can sell you as oppose to any substance. I think the 80s was the perfect overlap.
The 60s and 70s was mostly substance period! The 80s where where the mixture of substance, poppy fun, and sales/promotion came together. The Late 90s on it has become just about promotion and sales. They just need you to last at least 6 months, sell a few 100,000 downloads, posters, ring tones, etc..they on to the next one.
One more thing to considers is the target market. This may sound mean, but when you look back at the 60s to the early 80s...the average 11 year old girl did not control the amount of $ spent as they do today. That crowd today controls how BILLIONS of dollars are spent...and I'm sorry to say, but if you are trying to find the next Bob Dyaln, Deep Purple, or Led Zepplin...you are not gonna get those 11 year old dollars lol. Now Justin Bieber, Talylor Swift (whom I do like lol), and One Direction...they get those dollars for you. Substance you will not find though.
mrhoffame Good points! Back then there were MANY great artists. Now its hard to even call them that. And the reasons are as you stated.
Still doing the moves from this classic video in 2024. Benatar still rules.
It angers me that we can't have music like this anymore 😪
We don't have music or even films like we used to, unfortunately humanity has lost the talent for making films and music.

Pat Benatar was something entirely different in the music industry and was an icon. I think what made her stand out was this expression determination and resilience that seem to be at the very essence of her unique creative style. This video has a special place in my heart because it tells a story of finding strength and resilience when the world believes that it has succeeded in attempting to unjustly validate you with judgement and ultimatum. The dance moves are simple, powerful and displays the resilience to fight back against adversity and to find meaning in self again. I love Pat Benatar. Thank you for the memories.

The story in the video irrespective of the song is actually quite sad. Her waving goodbye to her brother, writing to him, the regretful demeanor of her parents in later scenes
Birthday caird pish
The very sad part is, I bet this has happened many times to families all over the world.
The sad part is that she leaves a stable home life to run off and become a hooker for a dude with a golden tooth.

"BRING BACK MUSIC LIKE THIS"!! I'M 47YO, WE LOVE "MUSIC WITH A MEANING"!! WE LOVE U PAT!!!
I have placed an 80/90s cloak over today's world and let myself get taken back to the good old days. It's the only way to get the inspiration I need to keep pushing forward...
i would prefer to be 20 in the 80s than being stuck in this time of pandemy
I would prefer to be dead
Yes, i am With you back in the 80s without this shit
you would have the time of your life and live to tell others now
For sure. I would follow you. This century sucks shit.
My dream... Be in my 20's in the 80s FOREVER
This is back when MTV actually played music videos!
@Heather Patterson hello how are you doing today
You're awesome and fabulous and beautiful and PERFECT 🥰🥰😂🥰🥰🥰😂

@@thedelusionisreal bruh stfu they did play black artist they just did later on
@@thedelusionisreal right they didnt play our black music in the early 80s only prince & micheal jackson.
All the Rest we watch our lastest music video on B.E.T On Video soul with Donnie Simpon
I can vividly remember, staying up late into the Friday and Saturday nights, to watch music videos. 99 Red Balloon and this were favorites.
When I was 8, there was a talent show at my school, and I remember watching this video over and over and over, lol
Somehow, I eventually got the dance step down. So I made a dress similar to Pat's and I did this for my school talent show. I was surprised I got a standing ovation lol.
I STILL know the dance step.
Wow that's awesome🎉
the younger generation think we are just old people in their 40s and 50s, but in our hearts we're still young and love is still a battlefield
Pssssh you not old you are experienced. Know you not that you have an eternity? Lol But this life has been one hell of a battlefield aint it?
best
You are so right!!!! We are for ever young and it feels so good, for ever ....
tennAgra just turned 40 and I’m gravitating backwards with music
Preach
Pat Benatar is awesome! Forty years on her music still makes me happy. I find myself singing along the lyrics and reminiscing about my high school days. In my opinion the music from that generation far surpasses anything that had come before or since.
common psychological trap, every person bonds with the music that was pervasive when they were between 12 and 16. thats why each generation thinks 'the music when i was a teenager was the best there ever was.' youre welcome to enjoy it, but there is no 'best music'
@@Pikawarps why would you bother to write that? FFS you must be special....
@@Pikawarps wrong, im 34 and I think music from the 1960's is still the best
@@ReginaTrans_Me to ❤
As a girl going into high school, I can confirm: 80's music is the best. Way better than anything coming out now.
I was a teen when this come out . I'm 52 now and still love itb
EVERTYTHING about this is so awesome! What a Legend 🔥❣🖤
