I stayed on the beach in Puri, OR for $ 5.00 per day if you rent monthly you can save even more, much more. INDIA means shopping around. My advise is, Rent during the low season.

    I think the grocery estimate for India for a family is very off, while perhaps it may be possible to sustain on Rs. 1500 per week that is VERY LESS. If you consider only dry goods (rice, dal, beans, oil, flour, etc) then I agree, however if you are taking into account fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, milk, butter, and meat then it goes up to I would say at least Rs. 3000 or more, depending on how much meat and types of fruits etc. per week. Plus normally included also under grocery shopping budget would be cleaning supplies, toiletries, detergents, etc, which definitely wouldn't fit in the 1500 budget as well.

    • @indrajitgupta3280
      @indrajitgupta3280 2 года назад

      I don't agree, but then, I am vegetarian; people who buy meat and fish definitely pay more than 1,500 a week. I pay around that, other than splurge on stuff - ice-cream in tubs, feeding my addiction to a particular soft drink, stuff like that. The splurges would be more.

    One problem is the unfair exchange rate Rupee to Euro. The Rupee is actually worth more. In Europe the problem is that the left parties became insignificant. That made life much more expensive for the average people. But as long as the normal people have no problem with that and still vote for Rutte, Merkel or Macron it seems we've got what we wanted...

For 10 lakh you can get a good sedan like Ciaz or MUV like Venue, Nexon etc. If you compound all the cars sold in India, maybe you could get the average cost of 10lakh, maybe thats how they calculated it..but still seems a bit off to me..

    That was very entertaining, thank you. In terms of restaurant comparison, what would an average meal in a "hipster" restaurant/cafe in Bangalore cost? I recall you had a meal in one of those restaurants in Indiranagar (sorry if I spelt it wrong) in another video. I think this might make for a better comparison to the average restaurant in the Netherlands. What do you think?
    I'm guessing that the Bangalore average restaurant prices you mentioned may be more for eateries rather than a "proper" restaurant. I would consider eateries to be just a step or two above street food, in terms of pricing, they aren't significantly higher and they remain very accessible to locals.
    Just before covid lockdowns, I was lucky enough to spend some time in Bangkok, and the prices in restaurants (especially mall cafes and restaurants) were just as pricey as in Japan, Hong Kong & Singapore. So I'm wondering if that might be the case with Bangalore restaurants too?

      Americans don't get 10 yrs Indian visa like that. It depends, varies case to case. India's visa policy is mostly reciprocal. That's mine. :) I am just saying that India's visa policy is reciprocal and it's not really that easy to get a 10 years multiple entry visa, be it for Americans or anyone else. I responded to first line of your original comment. It's just a clarification. It doesn't work that way. Tourism is surely beneficial for India, so is for any other country, including USA. Still, it's tough to get even tourist visa for US. And India reciprocates here, by making equally tough rules. But it varies case to case in both countries. So, many Indians are able to get long term multiple entry US visa and many US citizen get similar Indian visa. You are among those who got it.
      Also, frankly speaking, India-US relations have seen their own ups and downs. Even if we consider your claim to be a fact, there is another fact that USA had sent it's 7th fleet in Bay of Bengal in 1971, against India, to support Pakistan which carried out genocide in today's Bangladesh. During cold war, USA was mostly inclined towards Pakistan. US India relations really improved after Senior Bush's tenure, after fall of USSR and India's economic reforms of 1991-92. But it's finally going in the right direction since then. Both are great democracies and share many common values. Our strong ties can ensure good future for Democratic systems all around them world.

In india, if you got moolah, you send kids to a private and Posh school where the chances of networking and getting good jobs & career growth is substantially much more than going to vernacular state-sponsored institutions.
