I'm deeply sorry for the oversight in the initial map video where I didn't include Jammu and Kashmir in northern India. I will certainly be more attentive to such details in future map productions.
I want to explain the motivation behind creating this video. I traveled in India for four months and I know it's a diverse place, which is why I particularly love it. Since the primary audience of my channel is Chinese-speaking, I thought exploring the northeastern region of India would be an interesting topic. Presenting this topic visually was also expected to capture the interest and resonate more with my audience. I saw it as an opportunity to help more viewers understand the northeastern part of India.

Some of the states of northeast got their first railway in this government, after 60-70 years after independence. So you can't actually blame the citizens for it. I don't think that change will ever happen at this rate.
I am originally from the South and we've had many of NE come here to do odd jobs and they are not only hardworking but they learn the local language as well, hardly complaining. And this happened due to the marginalisation of Northeast by previous governments. But it is changing now, more new generation people are recognising that the people from northeast are also indians. So it will take time but it will increase positively only. And also as you have mentioned we have to make awareness campaigns among communities, but it will take time. And lot of these stereotypes exist due to ignorance of people. but these ignorance exists because there was no mention of northeast in political discourse previously and in media. The last aunty was absolutely spot on. It's always surprising how many questions people have about the Northeast when we leave the region. Most people don't even know where the Northeast is, which is quite shocking. If you ask students from the Northeast to name all the states and the capital of India, 98% of them will get it right. However, if you ask the same question to people from the mainland, even well-educated individuals don't seem to know as well. Isn't it frustrating when people assume our nationality based on our appearance? It would be nice if we were never asked, 'Where are you from? China? Korean?' when we are clearly from our own beautiful country, India. ❤️‍🩹 🇮🇳 Love you all

The McMahon Line was first drafted in 1913, and the treaty to ratify them (Simla Accords) was never signed by the Republic Of China(ROC) who had just overthrown the Qing dynasty. There was no such thing as the McMahon Line in 1890, and China isn't disputing where the Line was drawn, she's disputing the validity of the Line in its entirety. The primary Indian claim is that the ROC did sign the Simla Accords because a British official called Olaf Caroe fabricated a narrative in 1938 where the ROC signed the Simla Accords (they didn't) and ceded parts of Tibet to the Raj.
In 1963 a British diplomat compared a pre-1938 treaties compendium with the post-Caroe compendium and found that Caroe had changed the note on the ROC's not signing the Simla Accords into one where the ROC signed it and considers the Indo-Tibetan border finalised. Nehru picked up a copy of Caroe's fabricated compendium so he got the impression that his country was legally entitled to more than she actually was. Compounding this was the US' decision to add fuel to the flames by declaring the McMahon Line as the legitimate boundary in an attempt to contain the spread of communism, despite reservations from the US State Department and protests from the fiercely non-communist Chiang Kai-Shek, leader of the ROC.
However, we all know Nehru irreversibly altered his country's relations with China in 1962, so by 1963, when the fabrication was discovered, it was already too late to stem the tide of Indian nationalism based on the false compendium entry. And that leaves us with the situation today, in the aftermath of a British attempt to de jure carve out a piece of Chinese territory which failed but had some success de facto, then a British fabrication of her failed attempt to carve out Chinese territory, then an Indian acceptance of the British fabrication alongside American endorsement, and a Chinese refusal to accept the fabrication as anything remotely legal.
Some Indians recognise that they don't actually have a legal claim to South Tibet, so they've begun using a different claim in that the people living in South Tibet want to be part of India more than China; in essence, a claim based on the principle of self-determination. This is India's secondary claim. However, as history has shown time and time again (Catalonia, Confederate States, Taiwan, Corsica, Chechnya, Tibet, Naxalites), without the permission of the larger body, a smaller section of the population will not be allowed to separate from its original country regardless of what they want.
A much more detailed account of the McMahon Line and its history is available here, written by Peter Lee who, contrary to impressions given by his surname, is not at all Chinese.

None of this was ever part of India. The British forced it to India, but the Chinese Qing Dynasty had a weak resistance at that time. Those people and places have always belonged to the sons and daughters of China, and are the Central Plains people who moved to that place in order to cling to the frontier. There are two well-known ancient trade routes in China. One is the silk road in the north for trade with middle east and Europe. The other one is called "tea route" or "tea horse route" for trade with India, starting from Yunnan in the south. Most Indian still use the word chai instead of tea because of this trade route. Chai is mandarin, tea is Hakka. NE is an important part of the trade route. The tea route declined and then abandoned after ocean shipping became cheaper, so most ppl don't konw this part of history.

You really don’t know much about China or Taiwan, it would seem. First of all, Hakka isn’t an indigenous language of Taiwan. It arrived there with the Hakka people, who are themselves Han Chinese.
Further, Han Chinese in Taiwan *do* refer to themselves as “Chinese” its just that you don’t speak Mandarin, so you don’t know any better. In Chinese language, there are multiple words for “Chinese”. One is 中国人 which means Chinese citizen. Another is 华人 which means ethnically Chinese (especially those living outside mainland China). The Taiwanese consider themselves 华人 but not 中国人.
The same problems the Chinese deal with between ethnicities, Indians deal with in the form of religious conflicts between Hindus, Muslims, and Seculars, between castes, between linguistic regions, etc. Indians are really in no place to talk about any other country’s social cohesion.

India does not let you really know your history, you belong to the people who migrated to the past from China who clung to the frontier. Later, due to the British colonization, the British withdrew from South Asia and forcibly incorporated you into India. Historically, culturally and geographically, you never belonged to this country. China still does not fully recognize this place as belonging to India, nor does it recognize the other places that were forcibly annexed to India after the British withdrew from South Asia.

North-east Indians are not Han Chinese but they are descended from the same Neolithic people in northern China. The language they speak is classified as Tibeto-Burman which is a part of the broader Sino-Tibetan language family.
Most north-east Indians are descendants of the Neolithic people from the 马家窑文化 majiayao culture 3000-4000 years ago. From there they migrated into different directions, some towards the Tibetan plateau, some migrated into northeast India via sichuan and some migrated south east towards Yunnan from there to Myanmar and northeast India. They are not culturally similar to Han Chinese because unlike the Han Chinese most northeast Indians lived in mountainous regions and hence couldn’t develop an advanced civilisation while the ancestors of Han Chinese migrated towards the yellow river valley and central plains and were able to develop an advanced civilisation.

Thanks for visiting Nagaland, brother! Talking about English, it is our official language. During our childhood days, we would be punished (just for our improvement, not heavy ones) or pay a fine of some rupees for speaking local dialects other than English (on school premises). This is how we learned English, and we are grateful for it. Mostly we use Nagamese as a medium of communication with other tribes of the state. We have 17 major tribes, and each tribe has its own dialect. Even within the same tribe, there are many different dialects, which all of us value. And, regarding the religion we practice, which is Christianity, we are very fortunate and can't be more blessed than that. Lastly, anyone who wants to pay a visit to our place is more than welcome; you won't regret it! Love y'all!
