Trump knew the risk assessment of the golf course. He was advised by security not to go there. The residential boundary of the golf course left anyone able to access the area. Trump made the choice to put himself and his security team at risk. You cannot protect someone from their own bad judgment.

We have nut cases threatening politicians all the time. Much more often than is reported widely. Our existing security measures are working and stop these threats, as they did in this case.
There is no perfect security. The failures in that particular incident were not caused by a lack of resources. It was poor communication, failure of local law enforcement to put someone on that roof as requested that they instead had inside the same building, and failure to scan the site perimeter with a cheap few hundred dollar drone with a camera.
Fourthly, he is always saying that he is a billionaire so he can pay for extra security himself. Fifthly, the extra security for him crazily running around in unsafe spaces would just be another grift for him to charge the taxpayer for the high-priced rooms he insists the secret service pay for at above going rate prices.

I think calling for "full Secret Service protection" is more emotional than rational. Trump has been allocated well-vetted, experienced agents who spotted the potential threat and dealt with it. He's a target, so if he goes out golfing, he needs to be thinking about his exposure and be realistic.
Not to mention his detail has been raised, on top of his normal SS detail of a former president, twice already. First attempt and 120 days from the general presidential election. Everyone was so proud of him donating his salary. Well, I guess it's time to crowdfund his supporters even more to hire added private details.

Trump knew the risk assessment of the golf course. He was advised by security not to go there. The residential boundary of the golf course left anyone able to access the area. Trump made the choice to put himself and his security team at risk. You cannot protect someone from their own bad judgment.
Furthermore, he is not POTUS. Everyone keeps pretending he is supposed to have the same level of detail as the sitting president and thats just asinine. There is no perfect security. The failures in that particular incident were not caused by a lack of resources. It was poor communication, failure of local law enforcement to put someone on that roof as requested that they instead had inside the same building, and failure to scan the site perimeter with a cheap few hundred dollar drone with a camera.

Also, that golf course is occasionally used by Trump. It needs to be closed to others so he can use it whenever he gets the notion to play a round. That's the only way to keep it secure.
