  • The core of State of Decay is a zombie management simulation... and strengthening this core will make the game stronger and better than changes anywhere else!
With State of Decay 3 announced, it's time to talk about what Fox thinks will make State of Decay a better franchise overall.
What does it need? More decision making that is meaningful... so let's talk about the concepts of assignments of labor, intel and the fog of war, and the role of scouting in future State of Decay mechanics!

Git Gud Fox send survivors looting(not into Target or Macy’s), send survivors on missions, a real campaign so the game isn’t submitted to the multiplayer world that every other game is in, more in-depth vehicle mechanics and what not, campaign co op, the list goes on

Gurubani Kaur, Marcus, Maya, Ed, etc.
More customization, why aren’t default outfits selectable? Holsters, harnesses.
Different animations per character, not all, though.
Pets, companions, gun customization. In-depth base customization, traps, boarding windows.
Basically State of the Last of the Fallout of Us.

@@hunterfranklin5300 I do like the idea of sending survivors out as well as going on missions yourself, it would make the game seem a lot less of a one-man show and everyone in your community can contribute to supply and other things.
I personally would like to see a variety in maps, SOD2s maps were all pretty much the same environment, rural areas with two or three towns and villages. They could do a wide variety of places, a national park with several camps and fire towers, a large urban city with suburban outskirts etc.
And if I had to be that guy, I would want a lot more customisation options to the bases we get, like being able to reinforce the existing defences so they don't have those extremely obvious entry points for the zombies and you can funnel them through a specific entrance, or hell keep them from entering the base entirely without some kind of juggernaut to bust open your front door. (Obviously more buildings and upgrades would be welcome)

More In depth quests and large scale random events throughout the map.

  • @vovin8132

There are five main things that I want to see:
    1) Much larger bases, like having a final large tier base available on each map along the lines of the Dino Park in Heartland. Basically a base large enough to build all structures and house a lot of people. Maybe make the base attack threat so great that you could even build an extra set of defenses, like a moat or mounted machine gun nests.
    2) The ability to construct outposts, as opposed to turning buildings into outposts. Like maybe there is an area on the other side of the map than your base where the zombies are very dangerous. Maybe in this area there could be like a spot where you can establish a small outpost where you can build some beds and a guard tower and assign some people to stay there and pick off zeds.
    3) I like the idea of sending out teams, like with MGS dispatch missions. It is a good way for some of your people to gain experience if you don't want to play as them. Get them to collect resources, thin zombies, raid enemy outposts, etc..
    4) They should take the idea of blood plague walls from Heartland and create maps where these walls actually block off new areas.
    5) They should greatly expand on the Daybreak wave combat idea. Maybe combine it with the idea for large bases. Maybe there can be a separate Daybreak-like mode where players can progressively build up a large base in different ways, and the host uses their own personal base for others to help defend.

    • @Beeng00d

Vovin *and unique dialogue, or more missions that matter in the game.

    • @danhelsing5131
      @danhelsing5131 3 года назад +1

      1) Sure... but overhaul them. I don't want to play 2 over again with just bigger bases. I want the base experience expanded a bit.
      2) YES... but building an existing house into an outpost is fine. The point should be that we can make an outpost a place that we actually occupy. People are stationed there on rotation and living quarters are there as well as supplies and defenses. You shouldn't just claim a base and zombies stay away... No, we should have to actually patrol the area, build defenses to keep zombies out to provide a safe place for us.
      3) Sure yeah, your survivors shouldn't just sit at base when you aren't playing as them. But you'd have to play with injuries and sleep exhaustion if they will be actively in the field potentially at the same time as you.
      4) Eh, not super important if you ask me. I'd rather wander into dangerous areas by accident and get swarmed by dangerous spawns then have it blocked off as a warning.
      5) NO!!! Absolutely worthless waste of their time. Give us a better game! Not some stupid shoot-em-up modes that add nothing but a time waste. If that is so appealing they should make a completely separate game that is strictly multiplayer call DAYBREAK. State of Decay 3 needs to be about the survival experience... not some dumb arcade shooting spree mode.

The thing with State of decay 3 is the amount of potential that this game has. So many new things that they can add in SOD3 that can make the game so much better and so much more fun (not saying SOD2 was bad). The things that i hope they add are both big things and the little things that can make the game better and more fun.
1.) Better base customization. Meaning Bigger bases that are actually worth getting, and settling into. more unique buildings and more slots, and just more customization in bases. For example, maybe you can build walls and there are different tiers of walls that you can make or different type of walls, (electric fence, barbed, guarded walls with survivors patrolling them, etc.)
2.) Making bigger communities, more people more enclaves and bigger ally communities. This one is kinda a gimmie, everyone pretty much wants bigger communities and more bigger bases>
3.) Outpost are actually outpost. You can send people there to watch over the outpost, you can store some resources there was well and make them more better with more benefits than saying like just having two extra beds.
4.) This one kinda ties in with Outpost and bases, but better sieges and more sieges. An example is i love having hordes of zombies attacking my base and watching me and the survivors defending against it. not just like a wave of just 10 everyone 20 seconds but like 50 zombies per wave with some special zombies like Jugs. Also like enclaves that are unfriendly towards you or just random enclaves that attack you and try to steal your stuff or even your base. Maybe even kidnap one of your survivors, and if they succeeded, they ransomed them for supplies or you can try to eliminate them. Also you outpost can be under siege as well, meaning if you have survivors at the outpost protecting it, they can call for reinforcements from ally's or you can personally come to their help and fight off the horde.
5.) Survivors actually can do something. You can send group of survivors to go on scouting missions to look for weapons, rucksacks, supplies, or even other survivors. But, there is a catch, they have a chance to be attacked while out by zombies, or even other survivors. But you have the chance to come to their rescue if needed.
6.) Mounted Vehicles. A truck with a gun, simple as that. driving around with a person in the back shooting at zombies while driving by is bad ass and fun. You can't change my mind XD. But obviously you have to fill it with ammo belts or something along the lines of that.
7.) Story Line. I am kinda a sucker for good story lines. I want to see what the Network is, Red Talon, Sasquatch, Lily Ritter, Twain, etc. Maybe incorporate them more into missions and the story. Will we have to decide who we side with? (more on the next point.)
8.) This is more of a prediction (sort of) but i think there will be missions that will influence how Red Talon and The Network views you and you're community.
9.) I saw @Vovin say this but i also like the idea of blood plague walls that block off areas. Maybe they block off a military base that has exceptional look inside and make it worth taking down.
10.) More useful traits. maybe more different traits that you can get (good and bad) but just more different ones in general. Also different and more unique hero bonuses, just more variety in general.
11.) More storage, i understand there is a limit, but everyone just gets multiple cars and fills them up anyways, so whats the point, just make much larger storage's.
12.) The ability to carry multiple rucksacks. For example, you can carry one on your back completely fine, but it is heavy. You can carry one on your back and on your hand, with the other one open to use a pistol or a one handed gun. OR you can carry three, with one on you back and two in each hands, but it will slow you down and and you cannot fight back without dropping them first.
13.) The ability to have a side arm. Some skins/clothing have pistol holsters, let's use them. Having a rifle and a pistol would be better and more fun.
13.5) Kinda like the clothing with the holster, maybe clothing has an effect on the person or even the community. For example, tactical uniforms, military outfits can carry more ammo, stack more ammo, have gun holsters, and carry more explosives. While the raincoat can keep people warm and dry during rain, give them a +2 moral. I don't know about this one, but just a thought to put out there.
I have many more ideas, big and small that i would like to see in SOD3, but i am excited to see what they have in store for us. If you do want to know more about my ideas, or you have your own ideas, just reply and ill try and get back to you. Git Gud Fox, i enjoy your videos, and maybe sometime we can have a discussion on what we think may want in the next game. I hope you see this comment, and if you do hope you like some of the ideas that I have had. SOD3 is a game that that has the potential of being a super fun game to play with others and friends, and i hope is as good as i hope to be, but i guess we will have to wait and see.
    Thank you

I love really love the idea of assignments and even going more into that...here your enclaves take more importance, not only for their benefits but also for their abilities (shared or individually) for example you can ask the mechanics to save the vehicle you were talking about or maybe there is a scout in an enclave and instead of recruiting you can pay him influence to make the choirs you were saying...and therefore influence is even more important...and the options are too many and great

  • @nomadickiller1259

This is what I posted on Undead Labs Wishlist
    1.) Slow Character Skill progression.
-Increasing your characters skills is a fun and important part of SOD, however the fact that you can take a character and go from level 0 stamina to max in an ingame day or two is a bit unimmerise. Limiting the amount of XP you gain or even amount you can increase a stat (maybe 1 rank per character per in game day) would greatly increase longevity. This would also make Facilities that increase the amount of XP/ rank in a certain stat (such as gym and shooting range) so much more important
2.) Add the ability to assign A.I.'s to do job's/work in facilities.
-An immersive feature I would love to see is the ability to assign your community members to different facilities, instead of having the game auto place then in your base. Being able to actually assign your doctor characters to the infirmary, Engineers to the workshop, and gardens to gardens, etc. (you get the idea) and have them stay there would be great. It always drives me nuts to see me doctor manning the watch tower instead of being in the infirmary. -In addition to this, expand to allow the ability to send out members to either go scouting, scavenging, and hopefully hunting. This would also give characters that have skills such as scavenging, scouting, fishing, etc. to be more useful to a community, and the ability to provide more bonuses than a character that doesn't.
    3.) Bring back disease/ illness.
-A feature I loved in SOD 1 was the possiblity that your community members could randomly become sick, and possibly spread the disease in your community if you didn't have enough meds. This would add another level of survival that I felt blood plauge just couldn't reach, as you could just easily cure it/ remove with plague samples, and it couldn't spread to your other community members. This would also make characters such as pathologist very important as they could decrease the severity/transmission of the disease.
4.) Ability to recruit as many survivors from and allied enclave as you want.
    - In SOD 1, you always had to recruit all members or a community, and in SOD 2, you could only choose 1. In SOD 3, I'd love to have the ability to choose how many of them to recruit. Even if it's just talking to the other members to see about recruiting them before leaving their base.
5.) SOD 1 Lifeline style seiges.
    - The sieges in SOD 2 while a step in the right direction, were very disappointing for me (especially as someone who plays on Nightmare). Seiges seemed more of an annoyance than an actual threat, as more often than not the siege was just a handful of zombies and occasionally a juggernaut. Adding a seige system such as in lifeline where the zombies attack at the end of the day or even just in greater number would be nice. Also, having the ability to set mines, soundmakers, and fireworks outside your base as a facility action like in Lifeline would be great as well. This would not only add the option to make seiges easier for those that want them to be, but also give you another thing to use resources on.
6.) Add a daily schedule management system.
    - Adding the ability to manage the schedule of your community members would add a level of depth SOD hasn't had yet. Choosing when to have your characters work, sleep, eat, and scavenge would add a whole other layer of challenge that would increase the longevity of the game. This would also play into many different mechanics of the game such as labor, resource gathering, rest, hunger, moral, etc. Selecting how many hours your members work throughout the day will determine things such as how many resources are gathered from home facilities, how much stamina does everyone have due to lack or increase in hours slept, how much health does everyone have due to amount of times they eat, and is morale lower due to more work hours, or is it higher because you have more leisure time assigned. This would make the game a bit more difficult, as you'd have to find the balance between facilities and mods that boost morale, versus resources.
7.) No cars or limited use of cars. *Controversial*
-This depends on when SOD 3 takes place. In case you didn't know, gasoline only last for about 3 months before going bad. This is why in a true apocalypse, cars wouldn't be around for very long. This is why many games don't have working cars. In SOD 1 it was fine as the game took place at the beginning of the outbreak, however SOD 2 takes play at least a year after SOD 1. I would personally love to see a huge emphasis on traveling on foot instead of driving, as cars in SOD make traveling on foot not a very appealing option, as why run when you can drive? However, I wouldn't mind having cars if you would have to modify them in an auto shop to run off of biofuel, and be forced to craft biofuel from food in order to drive. This would add another reason to have someone with the mechanic skill and Chemistry skill, and make cars an amazing late game reward. (This would be comparable to Fallout 4 giving you power armor early, but forced you to find fusion cores, thus causing you to use it sparingly in the beginning, but more frequently late game).
    8.) Add simple craftable armor.
    - In SOD 3, it would be amazing to have craftable armor to reduce the amount of damage make your character immune to damage to a certain amount of hits. In a zombie apocalypse, Armor doesn't have to be heavy duty, it can be as simple as taking magazines or newspapers and duct taping them to your arms. If hunting is in the game, you could also use animal skins to produce armor that gives you other bonuses as well such as protection from weather or morale bonuses. In SOD 1 and 2, there were many notes you could find throughout the world that didn't have any use besides giving you some story elements. Imagine being able to take several notes and combine them with duct tape to make arm armor to reduce/ prevent damage from Zeds. Armor can also play into the mobility, encumbrance, and stamina of a character, giving to player the choice between more health or more stamina and stability.
9.) Add domesticated animals and corresponding facilities.
-Adding animals that you can either rescue/tame to your settlement would be an amazing feature to have. Being able to take horses/donkeys that you could ride as transportation or use as a caravan would be great, and a good replacement for cars. Cows/goats would be a great way to gain trade/ food items such as milk and cheese, as well as provide a source of food if you decide to slaughter them. Dogs and cats would also be a good for adding a morale boost to your community, as well as possibly provide early detection for seiges. Of course though, you'd want to add facilities such as stables to keep the horses/donkey's in, Cattle pin/dairy farm for the cows/goats, and maybe like a dog park/animal house for the dogs and cats to do their business (could also require labor to clean up).
-10.) The ability to join up with either Red Talon or The Network (Or corresponding fractions in SOD3).
    - In SOD 2 we always here the radio broadcast of Red Talon and The Network, either talking about needing to join up with them or how each faction is doing. It would be great if you could align (or choose not to) align with one of these factions, this giving you access to unique rewards that faction offers, and reduced influence cost with their traders. This could also open up the option to go to war with the opposing faction, either trying to wipe them out or significantly hurt their activities. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts, and I hope you take these into consideration. If your a fan, please upvote if you liked my thoughts so they have a better chance of seeing these ideas.

I really liked the idea of outposts meaning something. Scout towers would make so much sense in a larger more dynamic map.
The ability to actually build outposts and bases (to a degree) instead of just occupying an existing building would be really handy.
Being able to send groups of the community along with vehicles to do player directed missions is really a great idea. Makes the community really seem active. Not to mention you would need to watch their perks and quirks to make sure you don't send a team that hates each other.
I would love to see the return of a personal relationships again. You can pick up new members but you have to team up with them to build rapport in order to give them orders or take over.

All I have wanted since 2018 was a harbor/coastline map
Edit: Adding onto the scouting ideas, you should be able to assign survivors to do other certain tasks away from home (ie. assault plague heart, scavenge chosen building, trade with other enclaves), just like in SoD1, while factoring in certain things such as their skillset, how dangerous or risky the task is to determine their chances of being successful, getting injured while doing so, or even dying. Let me know if you think this would be a good idea
Edit No.2: I keep thinking of more ideas, have it so that siege risk factor attract not only zeds, but also hostile survivors and raiders looking for easy loot.

I think you're right on the money, really. Sort of reminds me of Evil Genius, where you can send out minions to carry out tasks. But if you really want them to succeed, you send more minions than necessary and/or you send henchman (who are more capable) which increases your chances of success. And while they're gone, they naturally can't defend your base.
They could do something similar where you send people with high attack stats for dangerous missions. Or you send people with specialty skills for greater success with other types of missions.

Or the better the weapons you give them the better chance they have to succeed. If I give them just a screwdriver then it should be low. If I give them an assault rifle with tons of ammo, meds and snacks then they should have a good chance.

They need to seriously revamp human combat/ human A.I. Every time I fought other enclaves it was almost exclusively my character vs all of their members, because my friendly A.I just got destroyed in any kind of firefights; no matter their skill, they were terrible at fighting anything other than zeds, making them a liability when dealing with hostile groups. First off, overhaul A.I combat performance completely. Then, I’ll suggest allowing more than one extra follower, maybe up to at least half of your group. This would allow you (as a Warlord for example) to bring a large, well-armed group to clear out other survivors from a place you want. Or even take them prisoners or extort them to work for you. Tbh, I think I just want to be Negan from TWD, but hey, everyone likes A.I overhauls, right?

I agree. Gameplay features are way more interesting than bounty items.
    Things I'd like to see:
    1. Make it possible to have a playthrough using just one survivor if you fancy being a hermit for a change. Currently it's not really possible because they can't sleep.
    2. Allow sleeping/time skipping in general (to skip the night for example).
    3. Allow larger groups to explore together (4 maybe?).
    4. More character skill customisation. Also traits could be gained/removed based on events that happen.
    5. Allow characters to teach each other stuff.
    6. More base customisation.
    7. Actual base building would be cool (like in Rust but maybe not as in depth) or the ability to turn any building into a base. it'd be cool to have a mixture of bases with unique features & "blank slate" bases where you're free to do what you want.
    8. An option for a procedural map for more replayability.
    9. Be able to tweak everything individually in the world settings. For example if you want more plague zombies but less freaks, or more screamers but less juggernaughts (like you can in Don't Starve).
    10. Please make the AI better at being stealthy when you're trying to be stealthy.
    11. Bicycles?
    12. Definitely keep single player (which is my favourite) but if you're going to have a multiplayer option, do it properly where you can fully run a community together.

    What I’d like.
    - bring more people on missions/looting
    - being able to shoot from a truck bed while moving
    - ask community members to complete tasks: loot houses, bring a car back, etc
    - have the skills do something more, construction can add to base (defenses, new spaces, etc), mechanic can fix random cars found on the street (a bus, delivery truck, siphon gas...) BUT, depending on level, things fall apart...or not.
    - find more stuff for the base/vehicles.

  • @renelongoria

They need to add the library back, we need to research techs that allow players to access building activities, buildings/building upgrades, game mechanics, etc. Similar to what SoD1 had in order to upgrade certain buildings, you needed to do the homework first. IMHO, if this would have been added to SoD2 as end game content, where in order to research techs it cost influence, resources, and large quantities of labor, this would encourage players to care more about the influence, getting more people on the base, etc. Additionally, the game mechanic of recruiting people with 5th skills is very blend and I find always having 3 characters with the same 5th skills (I found myself that without them, the game is slow and tedious) - 5th skills that level up should have been added into a library and unlocked allowing quick skills to be more appealing to the players.
Think of ONI research tree, imagine that SoD has something like that, that keeps you playing even longer, just because you want that shiny thing at the end of the tech tree.

Honestly a more elaborate power mechanic improving the worth of it but also making it more of a challenging in term of zeds probably attracting more unique zombie in the general area but to go even further a way to add power in certain districts unlocking better loot and equipment or unlocking a bunker or even a cleo facilities but only doing so by taking certain steps and quest in order to do so making it extremely rewarding but even more challenging. Also a great tag along would be if increasing the difficulty would activate certain zombie sieges forcing your base and nearby outpost to become indangered and you would be required to have to chose which outpost you would have to save adding a bit of a choice factor allowing you to feel more of a loss of a community or outpost

  • @outlaw0987654321

I would love expandable bases. Once expansion is ready you will have to fight due to the amount of noise. Once expansion is done you will have a new wall that is further out from the orginal. The orginal is still there and you can take it down if you want to build more stuff but the base is bigger and makes more noise so it might be for the best to have the orginal wall remain as a last stand postion in case thing go south.
Make outposts more meaningful. Outposts should be staffed with a few people who constantly go out and keep the zeds at bay. Let me make teams and assign them to outposts to expand the range that the outposts repel zeds.
Settlements. Were as bases can have tens of pwople, have settlements that can have over 100. With settlements comes a more manager aspect of gameplay. You have to keep order, have people on the look out for reaorces. Basically the stuff you normally do you can have others do.

Yes, yes, 100× yes! The comparison I have in mind is the original 2 Jagged Alliance games. In those, you'd hire mercs for specific skills and ideally they'd never see combat. Like, "You - stay at base and fix stuff because you're really good at that. You - you're pretty banged up, stay home and let the doc take a look at you. Doc, you're gonna be busy today...", etc. If you have this kind of dynamic going on, suddenly people with non-base-specific skills are valuable because somebody needs to get out there and do the looting and fighting. But, in a pinch, you may need to send your gardener out into the world and just accept that your crops are going to get neglected for awhile. Stuff like that. Manpower management should be full of tough decisions, not just a nebulous number that's added and subtracted from.

    1. 100% yes on more management. Current is not bad, just very shallow.
    2. Really like the idea of fog of war. Especially if they are able to do randomized maps.
    3. I also really love the idea of fog and other weather effects. Imagine wandering through fog and having to really rely on your hearing.
    4. 100% yes to making certain things just automatic. Really dumb that you can't just have things keep going as long as you have the manpower and supplies to do it.
    5. I was actually thinking about the whole green/red zones representing zombie density and I love that idea. It would also play really well into being able to send your survivors on scouting, patrolling, scavenging runs. There odds of success, getting injured, or dying would be based on the density of the zone as well as their specializations and equipment.
    6. Yes, definitely need more uses for manpower. I hate having several survivors just sitting on their ass at base doing nothing.
    7. One thing I personally want is a much more complex skill/ability system. I feel the current one is too boring in where I pretty much just always just pick the same skills because they are the only ones that feel useful. A much broader ability system that allows you to really specialize your survivors and make them better as a player control character, or making them better at scavenging or scouting runs, or just make them more efficient for base management activities would be pretty awesome.
    8. Also like the idea of making food more complex.
    9. Also one final idea that would probably never happen, but came to me when playing Don't Starve is plague hearts getting more powerful over time (in Don't Starve spider nests get stronger over time to point where they can actually walk around). Like maybe they have veins or arteries that just keep extending out and become a larger threat. The longer you let them hang around, the stronger they'll get, but the loot quality/quantity would also increase depending on the difficulty of the heart.

Agreed! Management is something that sets this game apart from every other zombie game out there. I think increasing horde size, freak amounts, and resource scarcity as you get better bases would change the way you play the game. Id like to be able to put the character with the agriculture skill in the farm/garden/hydroponics facility to get the buff and have them auto seed. Same thing with every other facility that requires a skill. Labor is massively simplified as is. I love the "Fog of War" idea. I want to be able to have the scouting and scavenging parties to find and transport resources. Larger bases, and more community members would be great. Id love to be able to station people in outposts, and have outposts get sieges as well. Lose the siege, lose the outpost.
SOD is a great series with lots of room for improvement. And hopefully since they now have Microsoft backing it...well get all these features.

Everything Fox said plus these few details
    1. Enclave cap 25 (yours, allies & hostiles)
    2. More interactions with npc's while out & about in town. Support and help with allied enclaves and negative interactions with hostiles. Only some neutral encounters trigger missions.
    3. Make bases out of outpost-able buildings, even if possible vehicles. (Bases are optimal for community but still gives option to live solo and in wild.)
    4. Animals, everything Fox said about hunting and farming plus, having to keep zombie animals away as they wildlife attracts wildlife.
    5. Freak/Plague expansion, things like Bloater Pods, Feral Dens, etc. start to evolve after having infestations fester too long. Plagues Hearts become Plague Walls after being unattended under the same premise and cut of major roads/intersections in town.
    6. Leader expansion/diversity Builder, Sheriff, Warlord & Trader are great as concepts but expand and/or add 2-4 more archetypes like Fanatic, Tyrant, Scientific & Isolationist. Make them affect enclave, morale , behavior, skill caps, etc. This would expand personality for each town as you play through.

I really hope UL has an ear in on some of your idea's... they def need to do a 180' from the thought process they have had in SoD2. It would be nice if we could get an SoD with Red Dead Redemption 2 style of hunting & fishing, harvesting of animals you kill... maybe you can make tools, clothing, weapons from animals.
They should even make vehicles harder to maintain as well... They could take a page from Day-Z & make it so you need to find all the parts to get the vehicles up & moving, It should feel like you have to work a bit harder to get in a vehicle you have spotted out in the field...just needing a little tank of gas that looks like it would fill a lawn mower & a toolbox is just not realistic in any way shape or form... even make it where you only want to use a vehicle for long distance travel. They could have horseback as a primary mode of travel & have mule's/donkey's for storing things... maybe even make it so you can create wagons to increase the carrying capacity.
The sky is the limit like you said... I just hope UL has that outlook on SoD3 as well & we aren't just getting SoD2 revamped but with animals & even more guns!!! They will be blowing the opportunity to make a game that could even win GoTY or something, it could be a beautiful thing if they put in the work... I'm really sick of hearing them say "technical restraints" or "limit's" are holding them back from implementing things such as rain or flamethrowers whatever it may be the community has asked for... hopefully beings they will have the next Gen. Console to work with things can be different.

Mangement is 100% true. One thing I found absolutely annoying with SOD2 is base attacks. They are 100% pointless. I usually just manage my supply locker while those missions are happening cause it’s annoying and not a real zombie attack. If I’m coming back from my looting to deal with this mission so I don’t waste ammo, it minus well be a real challenge that I can’t just AFK and pass the mission. I also think full customization for your base and it could tie into your whole “decaying of the ship” like building walls and after awhile walls deteriorate specially after zombie attacks and basically a decay to constantly ask you to loot for materials for things that decay. also at least one change is something with allied communities. First of all, if I have space I should be able to recruit of all them instead of disbanding the rest, increase relationship with them by donating rucks or something that doesn’t require a radio call, and maybe a choice to have friendly fire on so if I don’t like them and want to make room for another enclave to appear I can simply just shoot them instead of making zombies kill them.

After some lengthy thought I'd really like to see the legacy missions split up and added to rest of the game. Some of the legacy specific missions were interesting but would be better if they were recurring world missions. For example if some of the sheriff missions were a regular thing you could settle disputes between other enclaves lest they wipe themselves out or worse. I'd also like to see enclaves have the potential to raid your outposts requiring you to defend it, take it back, or negotiate a peace by giving in to their demands in exchange for something else perhaps. I think in the builder legacy you can get the allied perk of Plague Heart Assault and spend some influence to have an enclave attack for you. That'd be neat to use on a smoke grenade command just like drone strikes work for any target.
    I'd also like:
    1) outposts to have a permanent manpower requirement---like you'd need to physically station a community member at the outpost.
    2) hostile enclaves showing up to assault your community, but with the option of talking them down by giving them something they want.
    3) plague hearts that re-spawn within some amount of time unless you wipe them all out.
    4) unlimited community members but you'd still be responsible for satisfying their needs (beds, food, etc.)
    5) potential for deadly fights to break out in your community or even a group of survivors banding together to leave and form their own enclave
    6) a new map every few months or at least ten good maps in the base game
    7) enclaves kidnapping members of your community spawning a timed rescue mission
    8) ability to send out scavenging missions or at least have community members come pick up rucksacks for you.

Keep many if not all of the mechanics of game , 3 enclaves, pool of characters 50, the cards (leader percs) the current difficulty settings, etc.
Now add , two or more settings , a very easy difficultly, and a harder than nightmare zone. Add new leader percs, a medical, a mechanic, a gunsmith, etc.
Some additional little details to base building, adding mod spaces, combining or stacking facilities. When starting anew enclave pick 3 or pick more characters.
A higher limit on members. And a option to have your personal groups interact. And keeping the stuff you collected from the game and store them somewhere.
Keep at least up to 4 individuals to game together. Thanks

Your suggestion about the infestation scenario (around 21:45)... then you could have a reason for that poli-sci grad survivor... diplomacy/negotiation.

A more open bases with freedom on facility placement (similar to how fallout 4 handles settlements) would be nice. For balance purposes they can make it so bases has a facility rating, lets say small bases have 30 and large ones have 80, and small facilities take 10 while big ones take 15. Giving you the freedom to place the facilities wherever you want instead of just it being limited to the facility slot like SoD1 and 2.

One thing would be for them to expand on the skills. Like instead of Being a linear upgrade for the skill like once you finish leveling up the 1st time and then you can get lucky on a skill that you want But instead like a skilled tree line where if you go one route you have to upgrade it all away again for the 3re time and then you have to choose 1 or the other. Of more useful skills.
And one thing that I wish that the added in SoD2 is when you finish a community you have all these characters some may be good some made me badd but when you start up a new 1 you can only have 3 from your pool it will be a very cool aspect if they got an opportunity to radio call someone from your pool to join your community for a heavy cost of course to Balance it out
Another thing will be character customization like in the start of the game you can Customize the looks of a character making them look like you if you want or something To feel like a more personal connection towards your settlers and it will be more of a drastic turn if they are permanently killed.

like the skill tree idea. I hate when I don't know if one of my survivors are going to go into swordplay.

The fog of war mechanic could make the electronics skill very useful. Imagine if you could build a drone or a Uav type device in order to scout for you. It would require someone with the electronics skill to build. Not only would you need the people with the proper skills to build it but you’d have to find specific parts in order to build it. it should however have a down side such as being louder than scouting with a person in addition to a fuel cost.

As an indie solo developer i had many many ideas for my games but i had to compromise on some of those ideas, so the final product is a bit less complex than what i had originally envisioned.
I think UndeadLabs doesn't lack ideas but rather the ability to either implement them in a timely fashion or to forgo a more casual customer base.
I will be happy if they made a more difficult and persistent world and maybe a breakdown mode. Also more interaction with enclaves.

More in depth weapon customisation. Instead of finding pre made setups for guns with attachments already equipped they should have attachments that you can find such as laser sights, extended mags, scopes etc. I think things like different buttstocks and folding stocks would be cool and make it so you can make the weapons you want and you could completely change the way your gun looks. Also maybe allow you too customise outposts and maybe add a facility to them or something and customise how the outposts look I think would be kinda cool so it doesn’t just look exactly the same, also maybe you could station a survivor at an outpost so when you go there you can see them walking around etc.

If anyone remembers the rockstar Warriors game, we need a command system where you can command followers to attack / guard/ search etc to make moving with a team more fun.

I think they should add more clothing customisation/options also such as bulletproof vests with extra pouches and maybe a holster on it so you can have a pistol on your chest and other things that make it so you can really make your character unique

Full base customization. Still have slots for specific resources/parts/food etc but add bedding as something that can be obtained in looting that can be placed anywhere inside your base. If there's a weakness in the walls of the base, make it so it can be fixed/built up, assign survivors to parts of the base so they create coverage in doorways or ability to snipe etc. More/better vehicles with pluses and minuses that actually make you have to decide which is best per assignment or quest. Make driving in the game a better experience. Faster cars should feel faster, slower cars should feel slower, and if a truck or can is upgraded it should take A LOT to damage structurally, cosmetically sure. Make SOD3 a mixture of AoE, Stellaris, and a true City/Coaster-like builder game.

I want way more base customization. Like the ability to patch holes in walls, baracade doors and add spikes and barn wire to fences at material cost. I also qant more human threat like the chance of being car jacked or robbed when on foot.

How about if a infestation lasts longer than 3 in game days it grows larger in Zeds and eventually turns into a plague heart. That would be sick. Gotta handle those infestations or those zeds are going to nest LOL.
This game is so close of being a great game. Fox needs to be on the undead labs team and help out to make this game reach its full potential because they need some help.

State of decay meets command and conquer 🦊 fox. Sounds like an interesting layer to add to this kind of game. Question is can undead labs deliver is yet to be seen. Hunting makes sense since we will have wild life in the next state of decay. Good video as always my dude!👍

I'd like to see more interaction between enclaves. Certainly more within your own community. People could really fall out with one another to the point of violence or fall in love. Also, I would like to see hostile enclaves attack your base occasionally. Perhaps depending on how much you've managed to anger them? I think the skills such as metalwork should come to the fore with helping to secure your base, such as repairing fences or adding to them. I think SOD3 desperately needs a new super, hard to kill zombie. Maybe one that would actually make you think twice about actually facing if you're on your own. I've always thought a juggernaut/ ferel cross would be pretty scary. I would also love the idea of maybe making any location or building into a potential base, even as a temporary measure. Anyway, love the work you do, Fox.
