  • Crohn's disease vs ulcerative colitis nursing review of the symptoms, treatment, diet, and pathophysiology for NCLEX. In this video, you will see an ulcerative colitis vs Crohn's disease chart/table that explains the similarities and differences between these two types of IBD (inflammatory bowel diseases). In addition, I will give you two Crohn's disease vs ulcerative colitis mnemonics to help you differentiate between Crohn's complications and ulcerative colitis signs and symptoms.
Crohn's and ulcerative colitis are two types of inflammatory bowel diseases that cause inflammation and ulcers formation in the GI tract. Crohn's disease affects the whole bowel lining to the serosa. While ulcerative colitis (uc) affects the inner lining of the GI lining (the mucosa and submucosa).
Both diseases increase a person's risk of developing colon cancer. Complications associated with Crohn's disease are: abscesses, fistulas, malnourishment, fissures, and strictures/bowel obstruction. Complications associated with ulcerative colitis include: toxic megacolon, rupturing of the bowel which leads to peritonitis.

I was suffering from UC for years. Was finally diagnosed last year, doctors gave me expensive steroids and antibiotics it was the same if not worse. I quit eating sugar and drinking alcohol, started exercising everyday while drinking lots of water and I haven’t felt this good in a long time. Hope this helps someone.

Hi Nurse Sara! I just found your channel and I must say that it has been a blessing! Girl....you have a gift for teaching! The way you explained everything was simple, easy, and detailed. I'm not a nurse, but if I ever wanted to be one, I know where to go. Nevertheless, I am gong in foe a colonoscopy and endoscopy on the 6th of January and was a little nervous and began looking for info to ease my mind and that's when the Lord blessed me to find you. I immediately subbed to your channel and will be looking forward to watching more of your wonderful lectures. Now, you gave the courage and info I needed to get thru my procedures. Keep me in your prayers! 😇🙌🙏

Thank you for explaining the Crohns or Ulsercolllitis? My son,Adam, 29 got diagnosed with Crohns recently. He is going to go to a GI Dr. soon and I hope He can get Help. He has had it for awhile. After eating he would have to go to the bathroom right away. He may have to be on a Special diet. He will see FRiday.
