I was just diagnosed with UC. I'm blown away by your knowledge. None of my GI doctors have spent the time to explain this disease to me like you did. Thank you
Zach you are a fantastic educator. As someone recently diagnosed with Crohn's at 21, your informative videos have been most helpful. I am so truly grateful!
@@Proaz15 ohno pls you guys see a doctor i hope you all stay healthy and not develop any realted bad complications. praying for you both. hope its nothign serious
for my fellow students who love to draw along, i suggest screenshotting the blank board and writing along with him!!! thank you zack, amazing as always
You're the best, bro. I've been a ninja nerd fan since the first year. I'm glad I am in my final year in 2025; otherwise, I wouldn't be able to watch these videos for medicine, as they were uploaded just seven months ago.
Great videos but just a few corrections. Granulomas are very specific and diagnostic for Crohns but are typically only found in 30% of cases. Additionally, UC affects mucosa only. It does not typically involve the submucosa
I'm confused with something. We didn't mentioned IL-12/23 in the immune dysregulation but in the summary of maintenance therapy it's added to the list. So can we use Anti-IL 12/23 agents for remission therapy of UC?
24:46 ok, i'm curious and maybe you mention it later but fat soluble vitamins..what kind of fat? saturated or unsaturated? or doesn't matter cause fat is fat?
20:40 "So, smoking is good?" 20:50 "Dunno, Zach. You keep saying that nerd stuff and I keep hearing smoking is good." 20:55 "Got it. Two cartons of the finest Marlboro a day keeps the rotting bowel away! Thanks, doc. My life is changed!" *dies of freaking lung cancer in the middle of medical school graduation ceremony - but hey, without bloody, slimy stool diarrhea*😅
I am a little confused on the concept between AIEC and IBD if he stated that we can rule out IBD through a stool sample and say it is infectious diarrhea? If anyone can help, I am only a 2nd year college student so I don’t know much - oh wait on second thought I am assuming he means we are checking flare up so not long term so not adherent?
Zach, I hope you have the hottest girlfriend or boyfriend, or whatever in this world makes you happy. You and the rest of the team are incredible and deserve the best. Shout out from an optometry student who deeply appreciates your help!
Inflammatory brain disease right here with how much my brain is growing from these videos

Great videos but just a few corrections. Granulomas are very specific and diagnostic for Crohns but are typically only found in 30% of cases. Additionally, UC affects mucosa only. It does not typically involve the submucosa
it involves superficial part of submucosa

Why Crohn's disease does not bleed as much as UC since both affect submucosa where lies the blood vessels?
can you have positive calprotectin and still not have IBD
35:33 sorry but what does O in CAVO stands for..?
I think it's for obstipation which is a form of severe constipation that causes blockage of bowels
O=Obstruction
Thank you a lot 🇺🇦🩵

Can you have a negative calprotectin and still have an IBD?
Yes you can! Usually the fecal calprotectin is elevated during an active flare up not usually while in remission.

Fecal calprotectin is raised in IBD but normal in infectious diarrheoa so if calprotectin is normal we can rule out ibd
