Man, I love your videos. Here’s an idea for you to try for some different content. When I was stationed in Virginia (Air Force) my buddy and I used to buy large clams at the Food Lion or Kroger store. Then we would go off shore to a nearby navigation station. We would use medium light gear, 15 lb mono and a very small treble hook with only a split shot or two for weight. We’d take two clams and break them by smashing them into each other. We would cut up the clam meat into three pieces and use it for bait. Throw the scraps and shells overboard to cum the spades. Then we would wait for the schools of spade fish to swim by and have a blast catching them. They can be hard to catch so it’s best to feel the line as you fish. They put up a hell of a fight with their wide body and the best part is the spade fish are delicious. I do the same thing here in South Texas now.
I watched you make that blackened mangrove snapper sandwich and as Jerry Clower would say “you flung a craving on me”. I caught some red snapper and trigger yesterday and made the same jalapeño mayonnaise, blackened fish on brioche buns. Man it was awesome. Taylor from Dothan, AL.
Last night of season last year, had a big filet down, hit midnight, ki get bowed up,knowing if he's red he goes back....turned out to be a 24" mangrove !!! : )
Nate, I'd have to agree with you on the order of taste for our local snapper species. Hard to beat a mangrove. Great lookin samich. Tight lines and screaming drags
If u want to catch bigger and more Mangroves , get live croakers , free line or add a very small egg sinker with a 20 inch Carolina rig don’t let it go to the bottom
Congrats on that mangrove, unfortunately here in Florida I live by canals and don’t have my license yet to go to salt water and catch these, your very lucky to have this set up man thanks for teaching me a method to now catch these fish. Make more snapper video please!
Hey buddy 🤠 you skipped a step with the night crawlers. Put the worm on the hook with a worm threader. The worm goes up the line and hides the hook. Worm would look like an eel etc.
That’s not an oil rig. That’s a production platform. World of difference between the two. As a matter of fact the first one looks to be the 62-A platform in Mobile Bay built around 1993 and operated by Exxon. If so, it’s a sour gas facility (no oil). Be careful around these, as they often have gas leaks and the H2S content is about 95,000 parts per million. 200-300 parts per million is lethal just to give you an idea of how dangerous it is.
@southernsalt no there not dummy, earth worms are firm to the touch, will break apart in self defense when you hook them and will wiggle like a broken spring when you try to catch them, that's where they get the name Georgia Wigglers. If all worms 🪱 where earth worms you could pull the tape worm out your ass and go fishing with it...
Looking great with the new hair cut and the mustache...honestly it looks like you dropped weight over the year. Must have been from working on that kitchen.
I don’t even watch Netflix anymore I just watch your videos love it brother keep it up
Thank you brother!!

Dude that’s awesome! I get pumped every time I see that it’s a mangrove!
Worms do resemble eels, so it may look like a natural bait. 😊
👍

Nice Mangrove enjoy your video and content

Been waiting for you to post again, and I was betting you’d pull up a blue cat lol
lol that would be wild 🤣
Some fish fight really hard all the way up like linebackers
No doubt!
Love the videos man, Do you do any triple tail fishing?
I did last year. Really haven’t been much this year
If like big red snapper put a bigger bait , mullet , pogey , but use a big bait on a Carolina rig but on the bottom or a lil above
If u want to catch bigger and more Mangroves , get live croakers , free line or add a very small egg sinker with a 20 inch Carolina rig don’t let it go to the bottom
A few years back I was down there and got some mangrove... Put em on the smoker 🤯🤯 what a great fish, can't wait till November to go to Pensacola
Very nice!! Good luck in November!!
Get out of here 😂😂😂. Love the videos please keep them coming 👍🏽👍🏽

@@stevenquigley4208 lol yeah you are... The one upper guy lol
I love your videos. How far out are the rigs and what's that siren beep sound mean in the background? Loving me some catch and cook!
The siren is to let people know that it’s not in operation and no one on it. About 16 miles out
Congrats on that mangrove, unfortunately here in Florida I live by canals and don’t have my license yet to go to salt water and catch these, your very lucky to have this set up man thanks for teaching me a method to now catch these fish. Make more snapper video please!
You bet brother, hope you get out there soon!!
@@southernsalt thank you man
You can fish river canal and beach in Florida without license as a resident from shore.
@@rasbot2 I mean my drivers license
how far are those rigs offshore? we were just vacationing fort morgan last week, great videos bro
This one is 12-16 miles from nearest pass
not much to add to it, great video and nice mangrove, i prefer mangrove over red snapper as well, and you can catch them year round
Thank you brother!!
Love it /keep it up. Maybe some bacon 🥓.
I think that would go perfectly!!
I like for u to try some striped out croakers if u have them down there up here spots work well but they tear croakers up down the south
Croakers work very well!!
Were you fishing the Gulf out of south Louisiana?
Alabama
Hey buddy 🤠 you skipped a step with the night crawlers. Put the worm on the hook with a worm threader. The worm goes up the line and hides the hook. Worm would look like an eel etc.

@@southernsalt catching up on your last 2 videos. I'll actually watch them soon.
That's not a earth worm it's a nightcrawler.
Night crawlers are earthworms lol

Yeah buddy down a few pounds lol. I think the stress of the kitchen caused it more than working on it lol
Love the stache! So snappers like 🪱?. Probably need to put a bunch of them on the hook for a bigger profile. Great video 🤙🏾🤙🏾
