This made my day. I had a house built about 2 years ago in Biliran and plan on retiring in the Philippines in a couple more years and do a lot of offshore fishing. I don't know what tomorrow may bring but that's my plan today.
Where in Biliran? I've been to Biliran in Mapuyo, the town after Kawayan, I've been to a lot of beaches specifically in Leyte and Cebu but the best beach ever was in Mapuyo Biliran, it had no cottages, undeveloped and the seafloor was made of stones, the water was super clear and the beach was a rocky place, I always wonder how it looks now, I went there way back in the 90s , I'm currently in Cebu and the beaches here are nice, but that one secret beach in Biliran is still number 1 in my heart
Glad you did go to the Philippines and had a great time catching all kinds of species of fish! Welcome to the Philippines! Now living in Florida. Take care, I had a great time watching your video.
Great to see the slow pitch jigging working in the Philippines. I will be retiring there and fishing a lot. I have all the gear ready to go. Thanks for the video

Was just there for a few weeks with my wife for the holidays visiting her family. Miss it already. Looks like you guys are having a ton of fun. Awesome stuff!
The joy in your eyes is priceless. Bro this is my dream when i retire. Just fishing everyday in the middle of the ocean. Except of course when the weather won't allow it. LOL. pretty soon. pretty soon. Cant wait.
i'm from philippines, and honestly fish from different regions also taste different. in my opinion, fish from mindanao taste sweeter and less gamy than caught in luzon
I think its called tulingan? And i google it says that Tulingan is a type of bonito fish that is high in omega-3 and acids. It has a deeply forked tail, vertical stripes on its back, and a small, velvety scale. Tulingan is commonly found in tropical and temperate seas, where it swims in schools across the ocean. You really do have to bleed them first best way is to cut out one gill and let them swim in the bait tank. Pumps the blood out and lightens the flesh considerably.
I know the feeling of catching fish that you have not "unlocked" and it is pure joy and excitement. Amazing catch, hoping to do the same in the Philippines. May I know the brand and model of that rod? That is a mighty strong thin rod.

I love Bonita, but you have to eat it fresh and bleed it but my most favorite way to eat Bonita is smoked and you have to do that on one of your shows catch and eat smoke Bonita. I think that would be an awesome show.
I love that you went to my home country. Love living in Alabama now. Either Costa Rica or Dubai would be fun. You should actually go to Jordan if you can and catch humbold squid (pretty big squids) and use them as bait for big swordfish!
since the Philippines is composed of many islands, hope you come back here in the Philippines sir and try some other islands to fish especially in the Visayas or Mindanao Regions. for Luzon, try the extreme north ❤ Palawan is just a small tip on the Philippine iceberg 😂 great fishing video and thanks for making our country your first overseas fishing destination!

That bonito you caught actually looks like a eastern little tuna or kawa kawa, different than the other bonita species like oceanic bonita (skipjack tuna) and atlantic bonito. Ive eaten them all, nothing wrong with them if bleed and prepared correctly
Awesome video, Nate! It was nice meeting you and Kyle! Let me know if you need some Jigpoy lures/jigs, and I'll send you some. I hope to see you again on your next jigging adventure here in the Philippines.
I would be bringing an electric deep drop rig as I am old and can no way reel up those fish from the depths. Spent time in the PI when I was in the Navy. Crystal clear water.
