    For those that are unaware, the DA and the Police Chief have already gone on the record stating that no charges will be filed for the customer. He's in the clear with a "justified" defense of others. It seems the system worked properly this time.

Not to mention the eyewitness testimony from the store clerk. Meanwhile we have the justice system letting violent criminals off all the time with dozens of crimes they’ve committed. It’s a joke.

      The fact the police are even entertaining this is clearly shows the police not on our side anymore.
      Even if the final call is on the DA, the department works intimately with the DA and has more than enough influence to prevent charges in a case like this. They do it every day when it's their friends and family being investigated.

      It is the way these things go. They have to do a formal investigation and then decide that no jury is likely to prosecute him. In this specific case it seems fairly straight forward but not every case is and they have to follow the same procedures each time. About 10 years ago I shot a guy who went crazy and was beating/robbing a ~80 year old neighbor of mine and I even went to jail for like 2 months before the charges were dropped. In my case there was no camera footage though.

      At that moment, I wouldn't be thinking "Oh, he's only there to take money." That's wishful thinking. I wouldn't risk my life on that notion.
      We don't know what the criminal is thinking or what kind of state of mind he's in. We don't know how far he would go to just "steal". We can't read the minds of a criminal, especially at that moment in time when tension and emotions are high.
      If I was that clerk, I would thank the man for saving my life. There's just too many variables that could have gone wrong.

      There's no reason to think twice in any political/societal climate...comes down to ethics and and whether you assessed situation accurately.
      The report mentions the shooter being uncertain of what the man had in his hand and went by the expression of fear on the clerk's face. Luckily his gut was right. It was also apparent the clerk was cowering near the floor upon the perps approach. I guess we call these folks heroes nowadays because basic humanity is such a rarity.

    My Best friend was killed working as a clerk in a convenience store when he was robbed during the midnight shift. Bad guy was never caught and my friend died at 18 years of age. It was 40 years ago and I think of the lifetime he lost because of some thug that was never caught. I salute this citizen for doing the right thing.

      Sorry, but the customer is guilty of reckless endangerment and reckless discharge of a firearm...the latter is a crime in Michigan. You can't claim self-defense during the commission of a crime. If the customer had discharged his firearm OUTDOORS, it would be one thing, but he could have easily hit the cashier and it was done in a crowded store.
