Dragon Age - the only series where the fans can ask "What happened to the Tambourine and is this bad?" while being completely serious.
On the topic of the Dreadwolf & the elves being major components of the next game. In my experience, Dragon Age the series has a long-standing tradition of setting up the next game's action with one DLC but it is a completely other DLC that has much more important implications for the primary action/series storyline going forward. For example, Awakening introduced Anders & Justice but Witch Hunt got into the Eluvians & a much broader, hidden history of the elves. For DA2, Legacy set up Inquisition's villain, but Mark of the Assassin unveiled not only the instabilities in Orlesian politics but how big a threat the Qunari and their spy network actually are. I'm just saying, the dwarves have a whole ton of history almost as long as the elves; we still got Kal Sharok; and, oh yeah, WE MET A FREAKING TITAN in the Descent (plus, like the Avvar have this weird history that almost merges human, dwarf, & elven histories together). Point is, I am glaring suspiciously at any dwarf companions once the game starts
Side with the Werewolfs during DAO and the lady of the forest tells Zathrian that he turned them (the werewolfs) into the Dread Wolves. Which was right next to the Fen'Harel statue that has a codex in the Dalish camp before my party massacred them. I hope the Werewolf clan has some connections to Solas. I play Inquisition soon and see if it mentions it since my Dragon Age Keep has both Dalish clans being killed so it seems more reasonable for Solas to be doing this veil stuff so as if his people are actually at risk of extinction or something.
Its funny, while I also imagined the new protagonist being related to purple, I was heavily imagining the next game to have more of a gold aesthetic, maybe because of the gold title in some other images.
That said, PURPLE IS THE BEST COLOR and I'm extremely happy with a Purple Dragon Age Game xD
Even the neon is giving me some magicpunk vibes, which I adore and think fits very well with what we know of Tevinter! =]
So on the tambourine being a doomsday clock, I want to point at the fact that Thedas has two moons and there still is that codex entry “an eclipse as Fen’Harel stirred”. So I’m just saying I think it could be a lunar calendar
OH! Good catch, i think you're onto something!!
I am personally SO excited for this game. I am hoping that the team is able to express what they want to creatively now that EA has seemingly given them the reigns.
I do like what you said about learning about the legend! I think if DAI was getting to know Solas (and being unaware of what he is), DADW will be about getting to know the Dread Wolf (and being very aware of what he is). He was Solas before he was the legend, so there’s a poetry to it that I find compelling.
I think the name choice is a little lame, but I said from the beginning that I can get behind the purple. It immediately reminded me that Reave in Mass Effect is purple. Spirit and Necromancy are purple. Tevinter as a purple, soul-destroying magic-using nation is OK with me. Of course, the neon is a bit much, and I hope we don't tip over into Cyberpunk... but I guess we'll see.
Wow. That's, uh, a code. And I sort of wanted the new Mass Effect shorts...
There is something very noticeable about the Dragon Age Logo; it's white with cracks and has a light purple. White has a meaning of Purity or innocence; purple has a negative meaning, like arrogance and overly vigilant.
Depends, white can also be associated with evil or sickness. Purple is normally associated with something rare, wealth or royalty.
I screamed when I saw the title and rushed to RUclips to make sure I had my notifications on to see your video I knew you would make the moment it dropped and here it is!!!! I am so excited and can’t wait to learn all the lore and fall in love with a new character! This series is one of the best videogames out there and I cannot wait to sink my teeth in!
Same here! ❤️❤️❤️
Anyone who didn't expect DA4 to be essentially revolving around The Dread Wolf, it feels like they didn't play Tresspasser 😅
It makes logical sense for this game to have purple as its colour presuming that it takes place in Tevinter given its clear inspiration from Byzantium/Rome (being born to the purple mean being born to the royal family). While I don’t think purple is actually linked to Tevinter in the games it’s not entirely implausible that they’ll draw on the use of Byzantine imagery and colour palettes in the game.
Purple has also been used to represent corruption quite a bit as well. Which also fits quite well for Tevinter.
That comment about the bells on the tambourine possibly being a doomsday clock and you talking about the tambourine crumbling made me instantly think of the veil being torn.
Solas is my favorite character of the entire series, can’t wait for this.
pride demon purple is always in fashion. this reminded me how hard i’ve been tinfoiling on the magic barriers in dai that are most effectively destroyed by the mechanically ‘opposite’ school- storm & spirit serving as the rock paper scissors pokemon types so to speak :P love how even that arbitrary gameplay feature echoes the themes of duality, one being in conflict (or apart from, heh) oneself, even the fluidity (and potential volatility!!!) of how an individual can be defined or described given the fade. your channel’s really been clutch during a recent dragon age hyperfixation, much appreciated :’)
I was watching your Cole video the other day and there is a text break-in of “Dad Off” at the point where you speak about the choice of making Cole more human or keeping his spirit self. I laughed thinking- Dreadwolf as title and Varric’s narration of the previous trailer saying he’s got the player’s back. Will the next game be the ultimate DAD OFF that started in DA:I between Solas & Varric? The true plot of the next game.
Still giggling about it.
And, tinfoil- while purple is my fav as well it is a color made with combining red and blue…
in my opinion purple represents some kind of merging. what colours make purple? blue and red. blue and red lyrium merged together could make purple lyrium? the wardens and hawke (or the warden who returned to weishaupt if hawke remained in the fade) joining forces? the blue tone of the titans emerging into the red tone of the blight and archdemons? so many possibilities! ... or, yeah, it could just be purple. XD
I can't wait for this game
For the last few years I’ve had a hunch that making Solas tranquil to defeat him may come up as a possibility in this new game. I mean he’s a dreamer and if I remember correctly, defeating them in the fade makes them tranquil outside of it.
while i bet that will be an option i hope to all the gods that it isn't the ONLY option, i fucking hate tranquility DX
@@ICommentCuzILike I agree, though I’m not sure how else he could be defeated. Except maybe a whole lot of blood magic. Still, I think that’s a great prospect for a ‘bad’ ending
Could the tambourine be counting down in terms of years to a solar eclipse in the game? There was a codex entry that I'm sure mentioned something like "a solar eclipse as fenharrel stirred." The bells could even be actual stars or representative of Sun and moon as through the years the two come closer and closer to aligning?
I really like the idea that the tambourine is showing like a doomsday clock like you mentioned, and the reason its getting closer is related to the two shadowed spheres coming together "eclispse as Fen'Harel stired" could somehow be connected... perhaps. Very excited and love your channel!! :))
What if, instead of a doomsday clock, it's a countdown to the games release??
When she mentioned that it instantly made me think of the veil coming down.
That intro was me at the mall with my friend! 🤯 LMFAOOOO 🤣🤣🤣
This new cinematic has totally solidified the idea that the tambourine is absolutely relevant to the next game and solas does own that idol as he calls it his in tevinter nights. And I just... Good prediction!
I considered making a twitter just to tell you and Jordan that you missed the *best* DAMN acronym in the podcast: Dragon Age Maker No!
The two known types of lyrium are red and blue. Mix them, and we get...
I love Solas and I do want a whole game about the bastard
*Bioware names DA4 officially* Solas greatly approves
Love your content! Glad I found your channel with this news
Crazy,I HOPE they make Solas a great villain.
Dreadwolf is also an anagram for Fade World….prolly doesn’t mean anything but a cool tidbit none the less.
Good points! Purple is also my favourite colour!
I'm fine with giving the spotlight to Solas as the main antagonist(?), because his character arc is interesting and there's so much unfinished business with him. I'm dying to know if he's really gonna be fine with massacring half the planet for the elves.
Still, I'm getting a bit tired of Solas/elves in general being the reason to literally everything - directly or indirectly. The Romans weren't everywhere and therefore you cannot and should not try to explain everything like they were. Hopefully we'll get to learn more about ancient dwarfs. Plus I wanna see some sexy-ass Crows and pirates!
I’m so happy and hope DAD lives up to the hype
Am I the only one that wishes that there will be an option to forsake everything and be a villain as well? Sorry, that may just be the Slovellan in me talking 🙈
As cool as that would be I think that would make the dragon age game after dread wolf very challenging to make.
Im probably alone here but I was kind of hoping they didn't make Solas the main villain. With how he leaves the inquisitor he makes it sound as if regardless of his actions, since he created the veil it was going to come down eventually and we should just focus on preparing for it and the aftermath. That's what I was hoping for a chance to either side with or against Solas in the different thoughts of how to handle the changes that all of thedas was enevitably going to go through to return to how it was meant to be. Maybe even find a way to solve the problem that the veil was only meant to delay and either punish or forgive the elven God's who betrayed mythal
I needed to give Solas a different color for his eyes to glow in my AU, and I picked purple years ago!
I like the colour purple in this case because it sense of foreboding in some sense.
Speaking to the color, years ago I established my DA4 character's "main colors" would be purple & gold so seems like it'll hopefully work out pretty well 😆
I’ve been waiting for this video.💚
Other People: Meaningful comments.
Me: BWDADDY please.
There is one funny thing about the title and the color scheme: one public posted a theory, that the whole image could be misleading. They made the little circles on the tambourine gold, like in the first trailer, by inversing colors or something (clearly purple supremacy non-belivers) and the whole picture turned green-yellowish - very close to the Fade colors with golden additions. The gold-yellow according to them represents the evanuris' magic. And what I personally found interesting is that they showed that DREADWOLF is an anagram for FADE WORLD.
Literally when you first said tambourine I said “We’ve seen that before!” Like I am obsessed and so thankful for your content 🤍🤍
I've been on twitter and the theories have been amazing! Like the title dreadwolf is actually an anagram especially as it has been joined which isn't solas' title. The anagram they found was fadeworld! Our community has amazing theories even with the smallest clues!
Some of my personal thoughts:
Maybe you can tell by my PFP but my favourite color for as long as I can remember is purple. I always felt that DA4 was going to be purple or yellow/gold, it just makes sense ya know what I mean? So I personally love the purple vibes.
The Dreadwolf title feels a little lazy to me but it’s been a few days and it’s already starting to feel somewhat right to say. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Personally, I just didn’t think the title was going to sound so… Fan-made? It feels like a fanfic title rather than a triple A game title. Something like Divinity could have worked due to Solas’ meddling with the gods and the running theme of godhood throughout the series. Another title could have been Lupicide if they really wanted the whole Wolf thing in there.
Looking forward to the Loghain vid btw!
LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
My patience is waning,
is this entertaining?
My patience is waning,
IS THIS ENTERTAINING!?
It's interesting, they keep raising awareness of things I personally would never thought would come back again. IE the Red Lyrium Idol. The bells is another. so many questions
*Urthemiel's Breath was Purple... it's the only Archdemon we've seen and possibly that's the only color of Archdemon Firebreath. That one detail is why the color purple always spooks me in Dragon Age: Origins, it just reminds me of Urthemiels breath, so beautiful and so pure, and bright.. maybe this could be signifying that ANOTHER ARCHDEMON HAS WOKEN UP, and that the the spheres simply represent their tombs, and 1 being cracked and the Tambourine becoming Purple to signify the 6TH Blight (._.) if they corrupt the 2nd Old God soul of Morgan's son I could see how the previous Image hinted at 2 ARCHDEMONS and now it all adds up (._.) Morigan's plan didn't account for ANOTHER BLIGHT Happening in her lifetime, and if the Intelligent Darkspawn manage to find and Corrupt the Soul of Urthemiel, we're in for a wild ride on the back of Griffons, and they better give us the option to become a Warden this time! Im already Hyped (._.)*
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for the video :D
Oh I'm so ready for the Solas is DADdy jokes 🤣 🐺
I always figured Dorian would have role in our story and he is associated with purple so I just put those together
BioWare Daddy 😂. My flatmates thought I was crying I was laughing so hard 🤣. You’re a bloody legend 😂
lol you just said you hate orange even that your logo is orange XD and I was like all. Gosh mine too and my fave is purple too xD
I love your channel, and am a patron for a whole while now. You can change your channel color code if you want to purple, I would be all pro for it
I'm hoping that dragon age is handled in arcs. So the current one is centered around elves explaining the abundance of elf crap everywhere. If so I'm hoping the next one is Qunari centered and by extension the lands beyond where they came from
Dragon age animated series on december
Purple is the imperial color as well if you look historically (Byzantine Empire & Rome for example). Awesome choice for Tevinter and DA:D.
Dreadwolf is also an anagram for Fade World, but I'm guessing you already picked up on that :D I would love if DA:D is actually set after the veil is destroyed :D
On the topic of number of bells.
To me it looks like there's still 7.
The 7th one is peaking on the right side, close to the title level.
And I think it's a different mural, this one looks like it's made of stone, so I'd say it's a take on the same "event", but in a different place
desire demons are also purple! it probably doesn't mean anything but it is interesting pride and desire are the same colors!! also i think the shades in origins might be a bit purple as well?
I'm so ridiculously excited and that tambourine was discussed by UniFadewalker and he had a good point too. Love it so much 💖
okay so i have a theory that the Game will resolve the solis arc fairly early on, but it will end with the PC becoming the dreadwolf. as dreadwolf is more a title than a person. the main guts of the game would center around the titans in some way. i dunno my little lore knowldge and the way the DA games have been set just suggests to me that the titles are descriptors of the PC rather than what the game is about. orgins name didnt suggest dark spawn and a blight? dragon age two / exodus is about the player character leaveing fereldan, kicking out the quinari and potentially freeing the mages. inquisition is all about how the inquister decides to question and shape the world.
Go Purple!! My favorite color as well. :) And it soooooo fits the Dread Wolf.
Dragon Age Absolution coming to Netflix got anyone excited
It’s the veil! The tambourine is the veil!
Its broken now (obviously connected to solas’ plan), the gods are a bridge between the fade and the physical world, etc. Fun!
You should probably link the BW store and have the code ready to ctrl+c in the description ;P
Regarding the number of bells on the tambourine, it looks like there might be another bell on the far right side of it. There seems too be something protruding from it at least.
If that is another bell, that would also raise the question, why is it so far away from the others
Purple makes sense. In my brain: Purple = Royalty. Tevinter think they're royalty. Game is taking place in Tevinter. PURPLE.
You know, I hadn’t considered the significance of the colour! 🤔 Purple is usually associated to corruption. If you’re curious, check out this video on it by Razbuten: ruclips.net/video/L51xc6iqeaU/видео.html (not sponsored lol).
I very much hope that ‘Dreadwolf’ will be more about the legend then the man. 😁
That coupon code. 😂👍
WE HAVE A TITLEEEEE!
But in all honesty, I really thought the colour was gonna be gold! I even did a golden overlay for the past 2 streams that I did for Dragon Age day, which had a REALLY strong Dreadwolf rises theme!
what if the tamboren is the veil, the lyrim idol is the world and the world outside is the fade. and now thats breaking cause of solas.
Purple is also the color of corruption, that'd be my guess
We know from Dragon Age: Dark Fortress that the red lyrium idol was being used to create the lyrium fused slave markings (like Fenris), the fact Solas was watching Tractus through an eluvian made me super anxious... I feel it's hinting he got it back and I don't wanna know how he's using it 😭 (I don't wanna fight a fleet of arcane warriors plz)
On another note, it may imply we see Fenris again in DA:D 🤗
I think it would have been better if DAI dlc and DA4 switched titles, so Dragon Age Trespasser as the fourth game and Dragon Age Inquisition: Dreadwolf as the dlc
Loooove the purple
I looked at the concept art for the possible companions and was a little disappointed because I only saw two female companions. Another thing I'm nervous about is I hope the companions aren't like 2 decades older than my main character.
That kind of disappointed me in DA:I, because in my head canon was my Inq my age at the time I played the game, 17, and the youngest romance option I had that didn't weird me out too much was Josephine and, lo and behold, her romance was one of the weaker ones(imo). Cassandra was 39 at the start of Inquisition(my mom was 40 irl at the time), and Josephine was 28.
I hope for a more age diverse cast this time. I don't want to be the one unlucky kid leading a bunch of middle-aged men and women again and the only age appropriate romance for me being locked to me.
You know purple and pride, and released during pride month in the real world. I think there is something there.
I just hope that the game becomes a bit more dark/seriouse again.
Blessed Purple Supremacy!!
Cool editing touch too.
The game possibly takes place in Tevinter and Tevinter is very much purple to me. Like, if it was a color, Tevinter would be purple. So the color fits for me and I don't hate it at all.
Lets GOOO
Perhaps its time to change your logo to purple too? Lol. But anyway I’m super excited for Dragon Age Dreadwolf (DAD)
Do you have an own Discord Server for talking about Dragon Age Stuff? Is this just for Patreons? Or is this just a group of friends? =0
Its for Patreon donators! I know putting a paywall on a discord sucks, but it's helped me keep things civil on the server.
"I hate orange but my logo is orange" man, people are wierd.
I'm so excited 😁 😁 😁
I was wondering when you were gonna get to it since I saw the announcement about 5 minutes after it dropped and just thought “Ghil is gonna lose her sh*t”
Now, we all can call Solas...D.A.D.!!!
why is your logo orange if you dont like orange
HYPE IS REAL
Saw the Mark Darrah video on the behind the scenes making of DA2 and sucks that the executive ruined the naming of the game.
Honestly its less Solas himself and more the Elves in general. Since Inquisition they've had there fingers in every aspect of the lore and for anyone who cares about ... anything else the elve enthusiasts being the title is disheartening.
The game takes place in Tevinter Elven slaves are a big aspect but so are the Qunari and Mages and the dwarves have been shafted for a while. With the hive mind insinuation feeling ...problematic
This does feel like Solas the game instead of Dragon Age
I hate Solas? Haha, I love Solas so much and waiting for release of this game as the second coming of Christ!
I'm just thinking how not to go crazy with happiness when the game will be finally available.
Thanks for video!
Purple gang, let's go.
Can be purple because it is a royal color? Like Tevinter.
What if it’s purple because Purple Hawke will make their triumphant return as the protagonist? A girl can dream, right?
My brother brought up a comment he read on another video on this topic.
Dreadwolf is an anagram for FadeWorld. One of his mission titles in DA:I is an anagram as well. All New, Faded for Her = Dread Wolf Fen 'Harel.
Someone else saw it too!
The anagram DREADWOLF=FADE WORLD definitely stuck out.
BioWare knows not what they have done making the title DAD don't they? They know not what they have released.
While it probably is just down to them liking the colour it might still represent something in game. My current theories include:
It represents Solas' connection with Spirits. Because the spirits defending the refuge in tresspasser were purple and it is the necromancy specs colour. Therefore perhaps purple = spirit magic (not to be confused with magic using/affecting the fade/veil directly which based on the inquisitors mark and Solas' mysterious devices is green)
My second theory is that it represents the old gods, because Urthemiel's breath weapon in origins (and if I'm remembering correctly andrals in last flight) were purple. So if the tambourine really does represent the archdemons then purple may be the colour of old gods/archdemons/dragons magic.
If the old gods turn out to be dragons possessed by spirits like Hakkon then it may be both
4:23 speaks the truth. Purple is the best colour! So I am all for DA4 having purple as its main theme colour haha (Or I should say DAD.... Nope, still feels weird.)
Anyway, I'm super excited that we finally have a title! I feel like your intro was pretty much the whole fandom's reaction when it dropped xD
Come on Shale pleaseeee
So someone could save money on a Varric plush pillow by using the code BWDADDY huh. Too bad there is no Solas one and Cullen out of stock.
There is no way my pc is playing this game unless the specs are similar to inquisition.
I'm gone hahaha 💀 😭 🤣 "We have a tittle" lol can we drop companion trailer soon..... 😅 😄
Purple: Best Hawke, Best Color.
