I remember listening to this live and it made me tear up and coming across this again so many years later it made me choke up again. I never missed a show very very rarely I grew up listening to these guys and they were the best. Nobody can touch these two guys.
Replying to this four years later but my dad who was 53 passed away in the same year and I grew up listening to my dad listen to and watch Mike and the Mad Dog in the 90s and 00s.
The apple didn't fall far from the tree. The Dog's mannerisms were nearly identical. I don't recall Tony ever calling back on the air again. Was saddened when I heard of his passing earlier this year.
poor tony russo, he was easily the best caller they ever got. His prescence will be the thing most missed. Unfortunately, Chris's pop has not called back and all I can hope is the Yankees stay in 1st place this coming season. We need to hear Tony, again!!
The best sports talk show duo good things always end and usually not very well and when remembered most will remember these two as pioneers on radio and then simulcast on satellite/cable TV Mike and Maddog show was always interesting no matter what they were talking or arguing about. No matter what way the truly feel about each other. No matter who fans prefer together they were Kings of sports talk show radio/TV i hate that the didn't retire this show together.
yeah because mike francesa is an angry man who always get angry you could be at it forever trying to make him cry about something and he would not cry he is hard hearted.
@@michaelrazzano7253 It was a classic divorce. Mike and Chris couldn't stand each other anymore professionally, but they still loved each other deep down. And the call from father-in-law Tony admittedly tormented Mike.
stem.....i laughed for fkn ten minutes on this post ....that was some funny shit bro...how can u work at a place (like Verizon ) and listen to fkn sports shows....u need to be working ...maybe in a ware-house ..but not fkn Cubicles ...lol gd stuff dude..
Mike was good in the beginning of his career but turned into a grumpy old man. Mad dog was a joke from the beginning! Both are terrible bias losers!!! Disrespected minorities with all the hate and stereotypes. Made fun of other ethnicity and never made fun of where they came from I believe they are Italians but of course never poke fun of their own ethnicity. I remember one time they couldn't pronounce an Asian player's name but yet they are in the field of communications so they refer to the player as the "Japanese guy" instead of speaking the name? Would they do the same if the player was African? or Italian? DON'T THINK SO! How does that sound "the African guy"? I contacted the station and they just responded with an excuse. Very professional people there!
When Tony asked if I could still call you... it may have been the most heartfelt moment Of the 30 years the show
Very powerful!
Sports is a bridge…
I shedded a tear when he said that
0:33 "can i call you anytime?" that's so sweet and touching. Mike got a long great with Chris's dad.
Tony sounds like a wonderful guy- his comments were obviously heartfelt and genuine. Not easy to make the hard-hearted Francesa tear up.
it is very hard to make mike francesa cry, it's just for some reason he sounds like an angry guy.
He was always a great person to listen to . He loved his Yankees and his son. R.I.P TONY
Tony what a classy man to call and wish Mike and Chris the best. God Bless him

Tony asking Mike about calling in is so heartfelt and sincere you don't have a soul if that doesn't chock you up!

I miss the good old days. This is the probably the one time ever to see Mike fully vulnerable. I remember watching this on DVR that night.
30 for 30 was amazing
Many tears😥😥😥
Mike and the mad dog made a terrific pair they went together like lamb and tuna fish
Even when he cries he still sounds pissed off

Probably the only time that Mike was sincere. You know when Tony broke down Mike was going to.. you can see it in his face and it is 100% genuine.
I honestly never heard the show and didn't really know of them until ESPN did the 30 for 30 and this part still made me cry
Tony would listen for 5 more years indeed.
RIP Tony!!!!!!!!!
This is why Mike was great.
The best team the FAN ever had .Mike and the Mad Dog then everyone else

On of the best moments on this ever!
Holy shit. Mike has a heart?
i agree ....He Was simply the best ...Tony passed away suddenly at the age of 82 ..but wow ..what a great guy and a loving dad ...da best ....
Mike Francesa is the best, too bad i never got to hear Mad Dog live, but Craig Carton reminds me of Mad Dog
Is that what the verizon guys do while customers wait all day for them to fix their cable.
Yea, the people that work in cubicles go out and work on the lines. You’re a dumb shit
great radio
It's interesting that when Mad Dog called in for that last show, Mike was unbreakable. But Tony almost got him.
it's very hard to make mike francesa cry, he just sounds like an angry guy.
