Terrible contracts all the way around screwed the organization for years. Lifetime contracts are un heard of in hockey unless you’re Wayne or Mario. Disfuntional organization after the 80ies dynasty.

When you are an NHL franchise, you don't draft players so they could prosper on other teams. Torrey built his dynasty on homegrown players and bit the bullet for 2 years until they prospered. Millbury tried to win right away without thinking of the long term. In today's financial state of the game, it's impossible to keep an entire team long term
