Oh Micah you’re a man of steel!!! And Selah, well you’re just alwaysssss working in the background helping in the garden growing your family food. And I am so proud of you sweet angel. Josiah, I honestly don’t think the whole farm would survive without you overseeing all the projects and encouraging your brother and sister and your dad too!! Y’all have a wonderful mother that cooks and cleans and homeschools the 3 of you. She’s the nurse and bookkeeper and makes the work look easy. I wouldn’t mess with her too much because she runs a mean plow which also means she’s very strong. And Mike, you’re a great farmer. The know how and perseverance it takes to get up every day knowing your hands and knowledge is not only going to feed your family but others as well and at the end of the day you can stash a little cash in your pocket for the next round. I’m just so proud of you all and want to thank y’all for teaching others how to get it done right and persevere under the pressure. Love to you all, Wendy from Carolina

I love how you teach your children perseverance and that although not easy they can accomplish anything they put their minds into.A very valuable skill in life, CONGRATULATIONS MIKE AND LACEY ! know it's hard to have the patience to teach and that most times es it would be easier and faster to just do it yourself. Love to watch families working together. You're children are absolutely adorable.

Love watching how you interact with your kids! Former teacher here...I live in NC too: Louisburg. Our farm is on the Tar River. We have 3 goats, 8 donkeys, and 90+ cows (Angus). I grew a few veggies in two small raised beds. I am not able to get about like i once could. When I was a young girl in VA my dad planted 36 acres in garden and he had orchards with peach, pear, apple, and nectarine trees. He sold at the farmers market and from his convenience store. He said he "wasn't going to have idle children" and he did not!!

You are such a encouragement in the way you guide your children. That is what builds self esteem doing a job well and finishing it yourself. Your building some very strong individuals, all your children are such an asset to the farm, a real farm family. Good job Lacie working that Hoss seeder, can't wait to see the plants grow. I'm planting broccoli, kale and chard we'll see how long,g they will continue to grow, we're having some pretty cold mornings in the teens like 14 & 20s,days in the 50s. God willing I might get through Nov. and still have some veggies. God bless you and your family, your such an inspiration😍

I have a son that manages a heating and ac company and he tells me he can't find good well trained people who want to work. He's having a lot of problems hiring men and women willing to put in a full day of work. The pay is very good, so I don't understand why these young people think they should start a job at a 100k a yr when most of their training happens on the job. The company even pays for their schooling, I think it's twice a year they have to go to get caught up on the new technologies being put out every year. Honestly, I think this country is in for trouble in the future. We need more young families like this to teach their children the value of hard work.

I agree, many of the younger people (which is a lot since I'm 63 :) have not learned how to work, how to get up and do it even when you don't want to, to do it even when it gets hard and frustration. Kids want to help, especially if you teach and praise as things get hard. Too many people wait until their kids are older, after they quit asking to help, to try and teach them to help....big mistake. Put them to work early so they know they are an important part of the whole family.

Yes good work ethic is very important. Most of the younger gen want to rely on new technology to do the work for them, but not realizing that that very same technology is making them obsolete in the work force.
Encourage hard work with great rewards and will thank you in the end. Great job ! Hey I saw a video where a lady used her high heals to make the wholes for the seeds, but I’m pretty sure you could do transplants. Instead of the hand on knee method.

Mike, that was a real job to watch Micah work. I never did figure out why he was crying unless it was that he was discouraged. I'm 60 years old and sometimes when I discouraged I cry. A little over a year ago I was discouraged. My wife was diagnosed with cancer and had been taken off work. Our savings had already been cleaned out from her health issues. She came to me and said, "l don't know how we're going to pay the mortgage.". I was praying and being discouraged I cried out, "Lord, I thought you lived me." About 2 0 minutes later He showed up and began to show out. Praise God from that moment forward we did not miss 1 obligation to any creditors. We are so blessed. I know as Micah grows he will learn about discourgement. You are a good father.

Another great video. Lacey, you just gave the best review I have seen on the Hoss Tools Seeder/Hoe. All the details with a great camera view. Great job kids on all the hard work.

p.s. As you show Mica crying I thought, this is the moment he realized he may have bit off more than he can chew, but Dad did an excellent job on motivation and getting the job done. I do think he deserved a bigger lolli. :) Maybe next time a bonus, giggling :)

Try this idea for removing the seeds from your seeder.
Slide a sock or stocking over the end of a shop vac or vacuum hose and push an inch or 2 of the stocking inside of the hose to form a pocket. Vac the seeds out of the seeder, catching them in the pocket of the sock or stocking. With the hose pointing up, turn off the suction and then dump the pocketed seeds back into the envelope. This works like a dream - especially for those pesky tiny seeds, and you never have to tip the seeder over or disassemble the seed bin again.
I enjoyed this video. I hope my tip works for ya. It really works for me!
    Be Blessed!

Lacie , add your own lower handle on the seeder :) Adapt any tool to your needs. A round dowel rod and a small screw , through the side handles, to hold it on each end will do it :) Mike I appreciate your thoughts on every grower and their climate has different needs. One thing I have learned from other commercial grower youtube folks. Try to never walk on your grow beds , because it compacts the soil. In fact the no till folks say their crop yield is sometimes double the weight per square foot of grow area. Because the plant roots never fight the compacted soil and can set deep roots, where more water and plant food reside . Great to see the whole family helping as a farm family team:)

So much good stuff here! You'll love your HOSS TOOLS! Everything I've ever gotten from them (which is a considerable amount!) is top quality stuff, and they're fine folks with great customer service! They carry a full line of seeds, many pelleted, which they are adding to all the time. I'd invite everyone to check out their extensive video library and join us on the Row by Row Facebook site. Live shows air every Thursday night and are always entertaining and informative! You guys are raising some fine young citizens!
