    Got unreasonably angry when you managed to land on top of the Charger with the jump pack and shot between its head and back plates only for the rounds to bounce off. They need to add that weak spot asap.

      Or at the very least when you have a grenade in hand. You can “put” one in the armor folds. The way it stays for a tanks weakspot.

      What if you crack the side armor of a bile titan or charger and it gets a open wound, and you could just throw a grenade in there to instantly kill it, just like in star troopers

    All I have learned from these videos and from playing the game is that no 2 chargers are alike and it's very inconsistent. E.A.T is the way to go, but a face shot still doesn't register as a face shot sometimes.

      arc thrower & anti--tank are the most consistent. I like railgun simply because I use it a lot.

      As annoying as it is at times, it does kind of add to the immersion. Some bugs are just badass and will eff you up no matter how balanced or imbalanced your weapons are. I once ran a bile titan around for 2 minutes straight, calling in 3 hellbombs, multiple eagle airstrikes, an orbital railcannon, all my primary and secondary ammo + grenades + a full resupply, only for me to get stepped on right as I made it to my friend who shot it once with the arcthrower and killed it. It's funny and kind of epic sometimes, but confusion and inconsistency does also get frustrating.

      And bile titans are somehow even worse. Have seen them die in two EATs before, had them die in 6 EATs before. Got a 3 shot kill yesterday. I just don’t know what the difference is.

    Its been said by the devs the line you see on the Railgun that you say is 90%, is actually 100% charge. the rest is the "safe" margin before the gun explodes.

    Grenade Launcher is weird, sometimes ill 3 tap a charger and other times ill dump 2 full mags and do nothing...

      Gotta hit UNDER it and towards the middle for the most damage, as far as I know. It's also very inconsistent due to the AOE. Hope that helps some, though.

      the secret is the joints of the legs, those are the charger's weakest part, the same spot that kills it with the laser canon and autocannon. you need to bounce the grenade so it hits the charger mid-body underneath, that way all 4 leg joints are in the blast radius. more legs caught, better damage with explosive.

      @clownintraining5944 since the buff I've been running laser Canon almost exclusively, to solo a charger from the front focus it's mandibles (the 2 little legs near its mouth) it will look like it's bouncing, but the laser will kill it in 5-7 seconds (so stuns are recommended)
      Back leg joint is far faster, but harder to nail in a solo game, perfect for team play where your team ates draw aggro. Back leg joint kills charger in the same time it takes to pop its back (3 seconds -ish) but no need to deal with the bleed time.
      Also, laser weapons are based to holding in the same spot, you need to be steady, and not slide around the body of the enemy.
      But thanks to the part of its buff the gives it bonus damage to durable parts, you can keep it on and area that clearly bounces and the armor will break eventually as long as you are accurate

      same concept but with impact and normal grenades, sometimes I can kill one in 3 throws other times it doesn't die after 6 throws.

    Heads up, with the Arc Thrower, you can be wayyyy further away than the distance you were at 0:24. You can kill a charger before it even reaches you, and I believe I've killed a couple outside their detection range as well. Arc Thrower has a surprising range, given you just aim slightly higher.

      Thought he already was, but was interrupted having to dodge so he had to start the charge over again. It does fire almost up to like, 2 times faster, though it does start to struggle when there's a lot of bodies.
      Kinda wish the Arc Thrower can still bounce to enemies if it hits a corpse, since it kinda makes it useless if it can't. Or like, make it delete bodies.

      @@DustyOrange i believe it actually can bounce off corpses, though it's very inconsistent. I've seen it in the arc thrower guide by some youtuber where it was clearly demonstrated, and i think i've done it myself a couple of times. But yeah, most of the time it just doesn't do the thing with dead bugz. Absolutely love that weapon, especially after the recent fix - no longer do i need to empty uzi mags into te sky for the sake of just not crashing the game for me/everyone sometimes (if i'm the host)

    As a autocannon enjoyed in my experience the reason it's sometimes more is if you hit the top of the caboose. It seems to be more armored or not the same hit box.

    I still believe nerfing the railgun was premature on Arrowhead's part. There aren't enough dedicated heavy support weapons as it is. Railgun was meta because it gave you more options for loadouts and could take on everything from heavy and below. I mean it does good in a vacuum environment like this but, in most applications while being swarmed or shot at taking that extra 2 seconds to charge to 90% and aim properly just makes it less efficient. As it stands it's better just bring a recoil-less or EAT17. I mean it even shows they screwed up because after "balancing" the railgun they had to then balance heavy spawn rates, get rid of the glancing damage reduction for EAT's and recoil-less, and then reduce charger hp to head. They really should have just waiting until the brought more heavy support weapons in.

      Seems like this nerf are due to incoming powerful stratagems like quasar / mech etc. But that railgun nerf is bad and make this weapon usable only against brood queens and hive guards. But do you really wanna to take stratagem slot for those (answer is no).

      It's the only weapon that kills you if you use it wrong, besides ricochets. It should do way more damage for that reason alone.

      The reason it was so popular at high difficulties was because it was the only reliable and portable way to kill chargers efficiently, while still being useful in a variety of other situations (spewers, queens, hive guards, bile titans sometimes kinda..) and not using a backpack slot. Since getting overrun by chargers and titans was the main loss condition, and rockets were inconsistent and cumbersome to use and carry, there weren't any better options (except the arc thrower but not many people knew it's potential early on). I think where they messed up was by nerfing the railgun AND reducing charger and titan spawns at the same time. The rocket change was great but now that chargers and titans aren't as much of an issue, the railgun, while still decent, just isn't as effective in the more common swarm scenarios as other support weapons and also doesn't specialize in killing heavies anymore. It's in a spot now where it does some things okay, but it doesn't do anything well, making it a suboptimal choice compared to everything else. Against bots it's just a worse AMR.

      Plus when they reduced larger enemy spawns they drastically increased smaller enemy spawns, which the game engine can't seem to handle so the game constantly crashes ever since. Not to mention that the primary weapons and stratagems aren't balanced for that many enemies at once either. They basically broke the game because they decided to nerf a few weapons and caused an avalanche of problems as a result.

    Yeah, at this point, what's the point of a railgun when almost all other AT weapons or even arc thrower will do the job better, faster and without the risk of you getting yourself blown up. On top of that, the railgun is completely useless against bile titans, since the fact that it needs 15+ shots to kill one of them must be some kind of joke made by the developers (not counting the ps5 bug, of course).

      ​@@eg0zb You also get a backpack slot with EAT or arc thrower, and the ability to easily destroy shrieker nests and spores with EAT, so you can add utility to things that railgun doesn't have.

      @@lulz5319 you only 2 for the eat so its not as good if you get a bunch of chargers (wich isnt really a thing anymore so yea the eat wins). Wont speak for the arcrifle since i have ptsd because of my teamates killing me with it.
      I personally think the railgun is better than the arc but i might just be bias. I just run the flamethrower anyway

    Its likely the railgun was over penitrating the front let and hitting the back leg. That may have been what was causing the in consistencies with the testing.

    Rear leg shots with medium-ish penetration weapons seem very dependent on animation bug of charger.
    If you can get a decent ttk on the rear, just go for rear.

      im hoping they hard code back leg as a real weakness for consistency, someone mentioned, it wasnt intended but the devs were glad we found it as a strategy, which means they could either lean into it or scrap it

      @@EcchiRevenge ive been using eats, at first glance its 2 shots but you can pretty consistently land the call in on the chargers head if hes facing you, making the first call in basically an orbital strike then your 2 eats, on a 60 sec cd

    with the arc thrower you get a quicker kill if you do 1 full charged shot on the head and then spam half charged shots.

    I think the leg knees count as a weakspot so when you hit higher on the legs you deal more damage. I think that's why the autocannon backleg method needs to hit close to the knee. Might explain some of the leg two-shot railgun kills.

    On Helldivers 1, we have Tank and Behemoth "Chargers" both are almost similar, but It also has a armour on the back and has more HP.
    I hope that in the future the version of Behemoth will mutate and look more like its HD1 version

    either the lasercannon or the autocannon can kill chargers when back leg shots after charging is not intended, what happens is the model of the armor of charger and the model of the flesh of it is not in sync, when it charges the armor kinda gets left behind and now the back leg is naked

    The blood breath doesn’t necessarily mean it will die. You need to break its ass. Stick to the leg shots on the auto cannon

    Any chance you'll do the structure guide? Like, which automaton structure can be destroyed by which weapon and what is the most efficient way to deal with them

      I can tell you right now - Autocannon and Eagle Airstrikes are you best friends. But if you're looking for something to destroy stuff like Detector Towers - Orbital Laser, Orbital Railcannon (at a certain angle, and the beacon has to be right at the base of the tower), Orbital Precision Strike, 500kg bomb (I don't recommend as beacons tend to bounce all over the place near Detectors).
      Ahh and I really started to enjoy the 120mm Orbital Barrage: I throw them at medium and heavy automaton bases, airbases, bunkers, etc.

      EATS/recoilless can destroy fabricators if shot into the open door.
      Gas strike (and I presume smoke/ems) can destroy buildings on a direct hit, including research stations and dropships (the objective ones).
      Any gun with medium armor pen can hurt tanks/cannon towers/AA turrets/and artillery to the weakpoint. EATS/Recoilless/autocannon can also destroy the objective dropships if the engine is shot.

    So i think the reason the auto canon seems inconsistent on charger backside is because the top has medium armor and they’re always flailing around. If you hit the meaty part it should three shot

    I find myself killing Chargers one of three ways given my preferred loadouts. Either with an EAT to the face, good ol' Railcannon Strike or with Rocket Pods. The latter sometimes kills it outright (leg/headshot?), but most times it's near deaths afters. Usually finish it with an Impact nade or two. Flamethrower is fun to cook the leg with but also kinda risky lmao, someone always ends up medium to well done 🔥

    The autocannon seems very well rounded. Can deal with big stuff and objectives and can be used efficiently on mid tier enemies. I was using EATs and recoilless rifle more but they don't seem to give much of a benefit and are less well rounded. I mostly used them for how easily they eliminated chargers but since I learned you can take them out easily with the autocannon to the back leg it really changed my opinions on all 3 strategems. Unless I am missing something, which could easily be the case.

    For future note, the backleg hits are a bug as the armor is meant to protect them so those will likely be fixed sometime in the future. So those hits will be less helpful

    0:26 fyi you dont need to fully charge it to spam fire. Any charge will do for the first shot.

    About the leg armor sometimes not seeming to exist after a charge this is a known bug that the devs said will be patched there is a part of the animation post charge where the leg armor becomes intangible and allows shots through. this explains a lot of the inconsistency in your testing like with the laser cannon it's also responsible for the "back of the knee" myth with the autocannon which is a myth you can actually two-shot a charger from the front with an autocannon if you catch it during that animation though it does seem to have a smaller window to do so regardless any leg shot hitting with an autocannon is a bug and people should expect it to be patched.

    I wish for the railgun that they’d speed up the charge time for it to hit about 80 percent, then slow it down majorly as it passes the little black line. If implemented well, you could have approximately the same time from holding trigger to dying, but you’d reach the threshold for a full damage shot faster, with a cushion to aim if needed. speeding up the charge in this way wouldn’t mean it’s easier to blow up as it should be the same time to die, but would massively speed up TTK and feel much better.

    Knowing the back legs are weaker from the front than the front with the autocannon likely means they're weaker in general. Maybe I should be trying to snipe that with other weapons too.

    You can also use stalwart or machine gun to shoot behind the legs to kill chargers. I prefer stalwart cause I find its ROF and damage to do it it best. To an extent you can also do this with primaries.

    The reason the damage is different is due to graze damage if your weapon isn’t stable and the target is moving it can take significantly more time to kill because the shots do anywhere from full to half damage and on different parts of the bug or bot they have armor health for each part on top of over all health so if say using the rail gun you break the left leg armor then the right leg armor you took out two different armor health bars and you still haven’t touched his actual health bar this is why it can take 6 rockets if you hit different parts it’s like a boss fight in borderlands you have to take its shield out first then it has a health bar underneath

    So, the leg has a z shape. The outer most part is heavily armored. The rest of the leg, from the knee up to the hip juncture is where the extra damage takes place

    I like the little variant the charger has in the behemoth, itd be cool if there were others like that for the small-medium sized bugs like hive guards and brood commanders (I am aware of the clear bug evolution trees)

      I believe there are Bile Warriors, green ones, and they explode in a small radius after death. Not sure where they spawn though.

      Bile warriors are nice but what about a warrior that has a slightly different colour and spikes on its back stuff like that

      it's tough, the time window is real short and starts when they do the charge animation wind up

      @@OhDough I'll have to practice with a lone changer next time I'm on. I did just unlock the stun grenades so that should help as long as they don't do the running animation in place lol

      @@PoseidonsGreedApparently , Autocannon leg shots work due to a bug. After charge , at times the leg armor doesnt work for a moment . So you can 2 shot them , or not at all (depending if the bug activated) . Devs said it will be fixed at some point . You still can blow up the rear and make it bleed out , just takes a while though

    The legs with the AMR seems inconsistent, sometimes it'll bounce and sometimes it'll hit. Exact same spot. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? It also seems like once there's some green blood smeared on the leg that part is no longer armored? not talking about removing the entire leg plate.

    The mech can kill with one rocket you just have to actually hit it. Also the MGs specially the stalwart can kill it very quickly if you shoot the legs like you did with the laser cannon.

    I think with the charger bleeding, this may be incorrect, but my observation is that if the back is destroyed but they're still moving then they actually bleed out. Otherwise it seems to just indicate they're heavily damaged.

    They REALLY and i mean REALLY need to let the Guard Dog AR reload from ammo packs. Their is ZERO REASON for it not to be able to, its a F@#ING LIBERATOR RIFLE, your telling me these ammo boxes don't got Liberator mags in them?! Or ya know... just give it infinate ammo like the Rover on a cooldown and just pretend the ammo limit didn't exist.

    Hi, I like your videos a lot. Could you do a solo level 7 difficulty all points of interested completion both bot and bug mission with this loadout: las 16, redeemer, not stun grenade, oribital Railcannon, AMR, 110MM rockets, Shield.
    Also testing of 110MM and AMR please.

      I did it vs the bots, I'd run it vs the bugs but AMR is practically useless vs bile titans and just overall not that enjoyable vs bugs atm

    I noticed that the front legs have exposed flesh on the inner top side.
    It did count as unarmored and shooting it killed the charger very fast.

      it's legs lose armor from a few things, it usually takes time for it to happen though

      In my case i was standing on high ground and the charger still had all his armor. There is a tiny spot where the weak flesh was visible

    There is some problem with flamethrower. Could you spicifie exact point to attack. Because a was trying to hit leg (test aroung 10 charges) and it took A LOT of flame. Seems, it's a specific spot on leg and maybe not armored part.

      From my experience any part of the leg will do. It’s just harder to hit the leg than it appears

    Is the top of a charger's fleshy area armored? I'm struggling to kill with the Autocannon. I swear I've seen shots bounce there before

      The top of the butt is armored, you can see that the carapace covers it. Only the orange bottom of the butt is vulnerable.

    Correct me if im wrong but since these missions were on Level 3 difficulty, doesnt it take more shots to kill on higher difficulties all across the board for some weapons? Obviously EAT and Spear shots to the head one shot no matter what, but something like the railgun takes more shots to strip armor, no?

    The missile from the mech is the same as the EAT, Just now the aimer is....harder to aim for the price of not splodin yourself....I have no idea why.

      They changed it. It used to let you aim too far down and to the right and you’d hit your own mech and die. So they “fixed” it and don’t allow you to aim that far over, and made the rocket start further to the right and up now, and eventually get to the center of your reticle as it flies.

    Recoiless and Spear needs some love. When the Quasar cannon comes out, there really is going to be zero reason to run either of those weapons. Quasar + Shield/Rover backpack will become the go-to pick. That's assuming its current build is what we'll be getting when it hits live. The current build atm let's it pack the same punch as an EAT or Recoiless shot. Considering it needs no backpack and has infinite ammo... yeah, they need to give Recoiless and Spear buffs if they want them to not be obsolete.

    Arc Thrower getting an unintended buff from them lowering chargers head health so AT rockets can 1-shot it. It feels pretty greasy now bopping them in the head with Arc.

    On the face shots for some goofy reason the mouth area doesn't count. You literally have to smack them in the forehead with the rockets and such to one shot them.

    you have to turn the exo patriot to the side and stop the charge with its shoulder then move to the side of it while its stunned and stomp it. NEVER Take a charge head on with a charger in the patriot suit. Tried and tested!

      I dont think so. I head all health and damage were the same in all difficulties, only thing that changed is what type of enemies spawn, and how many spawn

    Is there also a PS5 issue relating to flamethrowers? Or a framerate thing maybe? Some vidoes show flamethrowers doing things that are not remotely representative of what they can do, at least speaking for PC with high framerate. A quarter of the tank to kill a charger through the leg? That is not the same game as the one that I play.

      I use co troller on PC, don’t know if I get different results. The leg is actually hard to hit directly. If you find one stationary you can roast it in seconds. 1/4 tank easy

    The AR guard dog is trash for bugs but for bots it has the neat quirk of aiming for the face, making it better than the laser dog by far. Mind you neither is very good at shooting bots that are far away but it’s not trash for bots surprisingly.

    i think a nice change for the railgun would be letting it always penetrate regardless of in safemode or unsafe mode. BUT, in safe mode it 2 shots chargers and in unsafe mode with 80-85% charge it 1 shots chargers.
    Basically make the charge change the damage is does but not the penetration value.
    i think this simple change would make it feel better to use, fill a niche of being a sort of middle ground weapon between mediums and heavies but not making it the best at dealing with either, EAT and Spear and whatnot will always be better for biles and chargers.
    while flamethrower or machine gun, etc are great for crowd clear+dealing with mediums, plus the flamethrower has a very respectable charger time to kill.
    especially after they fix the Ps5 bug with the railgun 2 shotting bile titans, itll need something to give people a reason to run it over almost anything else.
