We ended up just chucking Orbital Lasers and Airstrikes at them till they died. AMR and Recoiless are my favourite supports rn so I'm glad they're both decent at taking these things out
I’ve one shotted factory strider with a single orbital precision strike before. I landed it right on top of the strider so that might be the best way to take these things down since unlike the 500kg it doesn’t land under the strider. I’ve also one shotted with an eagle airstrike too, it works if you throw it perpendicular to the strider and have almost all the strike lands on it. It’s super cheap and has a 100 seconds cooldown. I haven’t really tested all of this but both times the strider just dropped from the dropship so i would assume it’s full hp

Also the same for factory strider
I guess the proper terminology for Arrowhead is, "It needs to be rebalanced from its current under performing status." I don't play the railgun personally. It's just not my thing because of how mid it is post nerf (I didn't join until after the big nerf so I don't know the good rail gun life style.) But they've definitely taken it too far just like how they've taken it too far with fire DOT. They saw the rail gun could do things. Unacceptable!!!! They also saw incendiary weapons not being used that much or being used in games that were successful. INCONCEIVABLE!!!! It's not like the rail gun by default should be a harder hitting AMR piercing further in and able to deal more localized damage than the AC or anything. And it's also not like there's a bug in the game that only the host of the game has DOT privilege that that just might skew complaints and data towards saying fire sucks, but hey; these were obviously the correct changes to be made, right? Seriously, the categories/roles of support weapons should be Rail Gun for unfettered armor penetration and a set amount of damage (with possible over penetration into a further target), AMR for pinpoint destruction on weapons by passing armor, and Auto Cannon to bludgeon armor into submission. Why is this so difficult to understand for Arrowhead? The way they've got it now is that the AMR is a better rail gun and the Auto Cannon is a more destructive AMR that requires less precision.
I can confirm you can kill one with Arc throwers, me and two other friends did it with 3 Arc thrower. But it still took way too long to ever be considered viable
Laser cannon is pretty much the most versatile stratagem for automatons at this point. It can literally take out any armored type of enemy quickly if you aim for weak points. If you have the pistol grenade, you can use stun grenades instead to make it easier to take out hulks.
In case you aren't aware for future testing, EAT, RR and Quasar all do the same damage and have the same penetration, so you could just group them all together.
I'll outright say thank you for this video. Of course this is kind of skewed towards your biases of support weapons and stratagems, BUT it at least gives me a base line of what to expect when I start running into them (I never did before the "Reclaimation".) Knowing that base line of like "Dominator is a solid primary against them" as the Dominator is a solid primary against the majority of bots to begin will is really helpful. Planning for a mission, dropping thinking you've got everything covered and then you run into a bile titan only to realize you and your team only have stuff to take out a mass of chargers like arc throwers and stuff.....it hurts. Knowing what can be doubled up (besides obvious meta weapons like the Quasar Cannon [yes, it is meta as an infinite EAT and the fact that EATs will solve most problems makes QC a very fast choice for meta builds]) helps me know what I can and can't do. If someone brought a Stalwart and they're going in charging at an Automa-chongus (hulk) I kind of roll my eyes and see what they find out with their fooling around. I think it's also safe to call factory striders, Automa-cows. They're large lumbering beasts that "birth" other things and they "practically" have udders. Not anatomically correct, but that's kind of the idea I was getting from watching this. "SLAP THE MECHANICAL UDDERS!!!!" Maybe that's just me because I feel like some of the bot spamming is just complete bulls*it. What? that's not offensive to call them mechanical udders. They're Automatons. They don't vote so they're not legally alive anyways.
I'm still kinda shock some people on reddit are still defending the railgun nerf to this day when a gun like AMR does an infinitely better job than it now....its so ass rn in terms of being a support weapon and unsafe mode is so not worth it given its huge risk and abysmal reward
I'll defend the railgun nerf because it was ridiculous to give it Level 10 penetration with Rocket type limb damage. But at the same time, the devs did kind of dig in way too deep into the explosive weakpoint this month, it makes the physical weapon feel extremely weak during automaton fights. I think its ridiculous for a Pen9 railgun shot to not destroy those Strider gatling guns as well as the cooling vents, because those are weakpoints that universally should die from medium damage. If you use Pen9 on a Pen5 weakness it should hurt like a truck. I can entirely understand when the railgun doesn't do high damage to a Factory type of weakpoint. (The underbelly) It makes sense that this requires explosive since all factories require explosive damage to die, but we need an in-between. I think the devs need to review their weakpoints and tweak some numbers there and there, there's to many bugs and inconsistencies with the damage values. Fire is still glitched, rockets have weird damage issues and right now explosive just looks to be the most stable so everything else feels bad
@@darkyan_1653 the nerf was justified at that point of the game but the game rn had so many balance fixes already and they haven't touch the railgun at all its been sitting in the void for how many balance patches already its been left in the dust by other primary weapons aswell one buff they could've done was give it an actual good scope so you can actually aim for the head better or at least make unsafe mode not destroy the gun and player itself ( its such a stupid high risk and minimal reward tech ) I don't really mind its dmg or penetration nerf at all its just its overall performance is lacking in a lot of places compared to AMR or primaries like scorcher and JAR dominator
@@marzialalfonzocanada888 Damage wise it's alright, it's still the best against mediums and Hulks. I swear the 500kg has been bugged. It either does a million billion damage in its entire persevable range or basically none. Especially with the new ship upgrades to other eagles has effectively killed the 500kg in my eyes
It one shots hulks with little effort. Rockets and Quasar do too, but travel time means it doesn't always land. Railgun being basically hitscan makes it simple. Thought it would be outclassed by AMR after the damage buff, but it is so easy to use against devastators and hulks I think it is fine.
Something to note about the spear, it can engage from well outside of the striders effective range (as long as there's nothing obscuring visibility). Not the fastest kill but it can be extremely safe.
fun fact: in Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 for the ps2, the neck is the only area of an AT-AT that does extra damage when hit. it makes sense that one weakpoint for the Stryder Factory is its neck, since they're so similar.
wondering why this face is familiar, haven't watched your videos since 2020 with dauntless, glad to see you're still making videos, especially with helldivers 2, really helped prepare me for my first encounter earlier on this date. also, for 500KG, if you can manage to get it to land on a leg, it will instantly kill it
Not sure if it had already taken damage, but when it was still a rare sighting I got a one-shot with a lucky perfect air strike. The Strider was perfectly aligned and positioned with the air strike and nearly every bomb hit (only ones that missed would have been because the strike length is longer than the Strider itself).
Hell yeah, Laser Cannon was already becoming my go-to against Automatons because of how fast it kills gunships and lets my ballistic-shield loadout handle rocket devastators and hulks. Just more reason to keep using it.
I remember the first time i saw a walker on the day they were added. Me and the 3 randoms i joined into had no idea how much it could take, and didnt want to take any risks. So we waited for our cooldowns, and threw 3 500kgs, 2 orbital rail cannons, 2 orbital lasers, and a precision strike cherry on top. It was dead before the smoke cleared.

You can also buy liquid creatine if you want to spend the money and enjoy the flavour, or alternatively you can acquire creatine in capsules as pills when I'm not having a shake, but you're better off just chucking creatine in your shakes.
I had a lot of fun chucking Airstrikes at these guys yesterday. It feels like 6 or 7 direct hits to the back can kill it, but the Airstrike spread is too long for that many to hit home with one call-in. Still gets rid of the chaff around the titan, though, so it's all good either way.
A-Tier, Case-uh-dilla cannon. Lol! Thanks so much for this testing video. I was worried for a minute when I heard the auto-AT’s were coming and had no apparent weak spots.
I'm killing it with HMG consistently now. When you're right in front of the thing, it completely stops and just stares at you. This is where you go prone and unload it right in the eye. Doing this at literally melee range is no big deal.
the grenade launcher has a minimum arm distance before they'll detonate, anything before that and it'll bounce off. So if you get the right spacing a single belt can wipe a strider out.
Be me. Started HD2 recently and trying to find a good youtube content creator for information and entertainment about the game. Tries OhDough. Living his best life!
A good way to deal with these ATATs is disarming them first by removing the gun in the front and the top cannon, then it will only produce normal devastators which cost the overall spawning score and leads to less spawns for rocket and mg devastators, tanks or hulks, thus mobile factory itself also cost a lot. Though this won`t affect portal groups which has already spawned. So fight wisely when an alarm fight is going. BTW, the cannon can also destroy bot`s building in one shot.
Very good video. I still think these things are a little over tunned to be turning up 2-3 at a time but this will help deal with them faster without just giving up 4 stratagems as a team effort.
If you manage to get above it, by dropping onto it or with terrain, there are 2 EXTREMELY weak points on the top. They are alternately opening vent/hydralics that are damaged by basically any weapon including primaries. Me and another player managed to drop onto one the other day and the two of us dumping a couple mags each with the scythe into these vents killed it.
I feel like railgun was infinitelly better implemented in first game, it literally penetrated enemies i.e. hitting all enemies in line but dealt not that much of a damage while hard staggering them. Was a great tool of stunning big enemies while teammates come up with a way to kill them.
Dealt with a few of these tonight. The top cannon is the easiest thing to knock off from any direction, then get somebody out in front of it with a Ballistic Shield to keep it angry while tanking the mini guns. Let the rest of the team shred it at their leisure.
strategy: ambush with an orbital lazer, then get under it as the orbital is coming from the top so it stabilizes it, then at its belly shoot your quazer, if that doesnt work what I like to do is space out disconnect it from its minions trap it between a bunch of cliffs which usually are near the outpost shooting quazers when it is possible, make sure to guard yourself behind the cliffs and routinely come out to blast it then throw a 380 millimeter which has great spacing so it is more practical then a walking barage because its more offensive and percise which should cover you and destroy most of the bots, then run back to the place you started, while its trying get its way out of the mess, shoot with quazer, should always end up killing, one time I did this without being hit once, strategems: 380, orbital lazer, quazer, guard dog rover (great for the distance play) because it just suffered a big hit, it probaly wont shoot you instantly when your running away and not in general, the spacing is give or take I only do it to be careful and maximize kills
I managed to one shot it with the 500kg earlier by getting the beacon/bomb on the head, I was surprised but it works. Others have mentioned it but the vents that pop up on the back are also a weak point, I'd like to see how many grenades are needed for that.

thanks for quality vids as always
Very thorough, very informative 🙏 Much appreciated dude, I went from never even seeing an AT to seeing 3 of them in one mission, got absolutely clapped into the ground. We ended up just chucking Orbital Lasers and Airstrikes at them till they died. AMR and Recoiless are my favourite supports rn so I'm glad they're both decent at taking these things out
thank you for the timestamps & concise explanations/showcases. excellent work
I was about to hop on, I’m glad this came out before I did. I would have been completely naked against thing machine monstrosity. Thanks Dough
Flashing striders is a strat?
The AI must not be able to compute the purity of a helldivers abs.
hey youtube, this video was good.
Bro, your hd2 content is S+ most insightful and detailed. second to none. Keep it up man.
The railgun is truly one of the weapons of all time.
That shows why railgun should be buffed again, it just not does what a railgun should do.
It's in the worst spot considering the risk it poses
@@OhDough yeah, that's the problem the risk reward thing doesn't work if there is no reward. If it is fully charged it should penetrate everything and do a good amount of dmg.
@@Diabolospk You don't understand, it was "bRaInDeAd EaSy" so they had to nerf it. Just ignore all the buffs they gave the rocket launchers and Anti-material Rifle, and how strong the Quasar Cannon is.
"WHY ARE YOU A META SLAVE!? STOP PLAYING SOLO DIFFICULTY 9! IT'S COMPLETELY VIABLE!" - The Average Reddit and/or Discord response
@@OhDoughit’s crazy how the railgun have so much trouble taking down gun ships too. I don’t think the railgun is completely useless right now since it can still take down hulks and devastors better than the AMR but it just boggles my mind that the scorcher (a primary) can take down gunships faster than the railgun.
Jesus Christ, it's like fighting a Strider from Heavy Gear.
Glad you got to post you strider factory guide 🤘
it kinda of worked out that I waited, got to test the new weapons on it
this video is very helpful. appreciate the effort
Thank you so much for making these kinds of videos in a community so rife with misinformation
I can confirm you can kill one with Arc throwers, me and two other friends did it with 3 Arc thrower. But it still took way too long to ever be considered viable
It’s wild how dirty they did the rail gun just to give us the quasar.
Laser cannon is pretty much the most versatile stratagem for automatons at this point. It can literally take out any armored type of enemy quickly if you aim for weak points. If you have the pistol grenade, you can use stun grenades instead to make it easier to take out hulks.
Dude you are the goat for testing
That's a ton of science. Thanks for your work Ohdough.
As always, thanks for the informative video!
In case you aren't aware for future testing, EAT, RR and Quasar all do the same damage and have the same penetration, so you could just group them all together.
Oh, no way, you actually found one? The thing is like trying to find big foot for me
You can find them on lvl 4 difficulty as a mission now. They also spawn a lot more often
I think they WERE ALL SENT AFTER ME.
I shit you not an eye of sauron saw our helldiver team and two of them dropped.
Followed by... ANOTHER TWO.

Just play on higher difficulties after today's patch. Had three on back to back bot airdrops.
i hope this video gets over a million views with the work you put in on it. holy shit man. legend
W EKKO SPONSOR DID NOT EXPECT THAT
Affiliate for now, we'll were things go though
Happy to see you were able to post this video in the end
Knowledge is power is this is some great data! Thanks for taking the time to do thorough testing! Much appreciated!
I'm still kinda shock some people on reddit are still defending the railgun nerf to this day when a gun like AMR does an infinitely better job than it now....its so ass rn in terms of being a support weapon
and unsafe mode is so not worth it given its huge risk and abysmal reward
@@darkyan_1653 the nerf was justified at that point of the game but the game rn had so many balance fixes already and they haven't touch the railgun at all its been sitting in the void for how many balance patches already its been left in the dust by other primary weapons aswell
one buff they could've done was give it an actual good scope so you can actually aim for the head better or at least make unsafe mode not destroy the gun and player itself ( its such a stupid high risk and minimal reward tech )
I don't really mind its dmg or penetration nerf at all its just its overall performance is lacking in a lot of places compared to AMR or primaries like scorcher and JAR dominator
@@marzialalfonzocanada888 Damage wise it's alright, it's still the best against mediums and Hulks. Better scope, 2 second max charge window before explosion, and being able to charge while running would be fair. It suppose to be a run and gun anti-heavy support gun, but it's ergonomics doesn't quite make it balanced.
As someone who always preferred AMR to rail in HD2....the rail is better at close range and dealing with hulks. I thought the AMR buff would make it outclass the Railgun, but Railgun is much easier to snipe hulks with and can one shot them. Huge benefit
It is easier to use with the tradeoff of reload time.
They really thought the quasar cannon that takes 10 seconds to cool down and 3 seconds to heat up would be the fastest over other exact same damage ATs? Truly quasar fanboyism knows no bounds. 😮
jar-5 dominator mains rise up

Dang dude that is a huge amount of testing, gg! I loved the way you used the icons of the weapons and stratagems on the vid.

13:13 Wait what!? How do you resupply yourself??
I swear the 500kg has been bugged. It either does a million billion damage in its entire persevable range or basically none. Especially with the new ship upgrades to other eagles has effectively killed the 500kg in my eyes

Dude thank you for all the work you put into this it’s really nice to get all this info in one video
After bringing up nearly every other support weapon, they really gotta take the disrespect off the railgun.
It one shots hulks with little effort. Rockets and Quasar do too, but travel time means it doesn't always land. Railgun being basically hitscan makes it simple.
Thought it would be outclassed by AMR after the damage buff, but it is so easy to use against devastators and hulks I think it is fine.
with the new eagle upgrade where it drops an additional bomb if you aim it properly you can kill em with one eagle strike, best strategem evur.
Auto Cannon, Grenade Launcher & Quasars are God’s gift to us all.
really great video was waiting for yours to come out to get a comprehensive view.
Something to note about the spear, it can engage from well outside of the striders effective range (as long as there's nothing obscuring visibility). Not the fastest kill but it can be extremely safe.
Can't wait to dive in to test the eruptor and further test the quasar cannon against the Factory strider.
fun fact: in Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 for the ps2, the neck is the only area of an AT-AT that does extra damage when hit.
it makes sense that one weakpoint for the Stryder Factory is its neck, since they're so similar.
wondering why this face is familiar, haven't watched your videos since 2020 with dauntless, glad to see you're still making videos, especially with helldivers 2, really helped prepare me for my first encounter earlier on this date. also, for 500KG, if you can manage to get it to land on a leg, it will instantly kill it
Not sure if it had already taken damage, but when it was still a rare sighting I got a one-shot with a lucky perfect air strike. The Strider was perfectly aligned and positioned with the air strike and nearly every bomb hit (only ones that missed would have been because the strike length is longer than the Strider itself).
Subbed for the drawing, thank you.
Crazy good video dude! Feels like helldiver academy training 😂
Hell yeah, Laser Cannon was already becoming my go-to against Automatons because of how fast it kills gunships and lets my ballistic-shield loadout handle rocket devastators and hulks. Just more reason to keep using it.
Love how he has a million names for the quaso cannon
I remember the first time i saw a walker on the day they were added. Me and the 3 randoms i joined into had no idea how much it could take, and didnt want to take any risks. So we waited for our cooldowns, and threw 3 500kgs, 2 orbital rail cannons, 2 orbital lasers, and a precision strike cherry on top.
It was dead before the smoke cleared.
I use that same creatine. The micronized creatine is more expensive, but it absorbs way better. Always get gut issues if I use the larger powdered stuff. You can also buy liquid creatine if you want to spend the money and enjoy the flavour, or alternatively you can acquire creatine in capsules as pills when I'm not having a shake, but you're better off just chucking creatine in your shakes.
creatine in shakes is for sure the play for anyone that doesn't like the texture.
This was a great and comprehensive video.
Akeada and I were testing stuff earlier and he managed to drop a Factory Strider with three hits from a 380MM. Results will vary, obviously.
Wait so technically we can bounce it off the ground and into the belly?
Super helpful - great content!

Great video! Thanks!
Thanks for all the testing!!
Awesome video. Did I missed the Cross Bow somehow or you didn't unlocked it yet?
crossbow doesnt have medium armor pen but it does have explosive, i assume it doesn't work at all.
Thanks for this massive effort brother
All in one part, cant imagine how long this took. very nice

" Drop ships detected "
They bring another one down there 😂
I managed to one shot it with the 500kg earlier by getting the beacon/bomb on the head, I was surprised but it works. Others have mentioned it but the vents that pop up on the back are also a weak point, I'd like to see how many grenades are needed for that.
The miniguns highlight how absolutely lethal things like them and the Shield Devastators are. Explosions probably won't kill you... but they definitely will.
OhDough so happy the factory striders came back and he gets to release this video finally 😂
