The spear has to have some defective manufacturing design flaws implemented by dissident sabotage groups funded by the automatons, because it's ability to look at a bug the size of a building and say "No I don't think I will lock on" is absolutely mind boggling.
There's always going to be some dude who will reply with: "B-b-bbut in reality you can't lock with fog, rain, clouds, retrograde Mercury, on second monday of every month etc" We know. It's not milsim.
@@LaserTractor i would relpy, you gotta aggro the thing you want to shoot, like shooting the thing a few times with other weapons, then you can lock that thing. Its a cheap way to not letting you spawn camping bots fabricators. Not to mention the trajectory sucks as hell, nor the damage can cover up that fact
The trick to use spear is you can't point it at the target directly, but have to aim either below if it is close or above it it is far. Pointing directly at the target works only at very specific distance.
bro i want you to know you are doing the ENTIRE community a gigantic favor. Just having numbers like these to be able to call on at any moment is so useful and allows for other people to take it even further.
should test it with two people cooking it, i've noticed 2 ft's focusing a charger kills it more than twice as quickly as 1 does (takes almost exactly a full tank solo but with a cookout team i barely use any fuel before it pops)
When they nerfed the railgun they gave the bile titan a weak spot just behind the mouth on its cheek. You can one shot it consistently there(with perfect aim).
@andrzejwysocki609 I can confirm it works on pc. My aim isn't great but I've done it a handful of times now, about 4. It's so satisfying, and reaffirms my view of it as necessary for solo runs
Official statement from these devs, it will never happen :)) they will just give out some BS patch notes with nothing of worth in it, and change things in the background. They didn't even acknowledge the bug even exists, they just did a bug fix that made the weapon too weak when no ps player is in the party and as intended when you have one in it... It's like that half assed fix for the mech blowing up...
@@OhDough An interesting test could be 'best support combo' like if you bring two with you or are with a group. One disposable rocket to the face + x weapon shots, or an autocannon mag to the ass + machine gun. I can see it being helpful for lower levels that have not unlocked the quasar or don't use the disposable rocket for whatever reason, so you can spread out your overall utility/focus down certain targets a little easier.
why though? like if they never had the pre-nerf version it would just be another support weapon that's not good at killing titans.... like you don't expect the stalwart or AMR to kill a titan in a few shots right?
@@zwenkwiel816 - The railgun is supposed to be a more powerful, armor piercing sniper rifle, per the devs' own blog post. I agree that it shouldn't 2-shot BTs, but 5 shots is where I'd put the sweet spot at. Potentially 4 BTs per mag, if you land all the shots perfectly.
Autocannon and Railgun taking the same amount of shots while one of them is directly in the head and the other is on the belly is just ridiculous ngl LMAO
@@bradenhagen7977it doesn’t have the penetrating power to damage the head which overcharged railgun could do. Auto cannon has explosive damage so it could deal full damage of under belly of a titan, instead of dealing 1/10 of damage like anti-material rifle or HMG.
To clarify as a PS5 player, the Railgun bug ONLY WORKS if you join someone who is playing on PS5, regardless of platform. If you play solo or host on PS5, you will not get the bug.
Saw a video somewhere talking about that armoured parts have two different health pools. They have a separate pool for the armour itself and separate pool for the limb part. However, some armours are marked as critical (bile titan and charger heads for example) which means if the armour is broken, the unit dies. (This is why you cannot see a titan or charger with the head armour broken but they are simply missing the head). Things like EAT/Recoilless/Quasar deal little actual damage but high damage to armour where as Railgun deals high damage. It is possible that the PS5 buff does something wonky on the health pool of the titan head but leaves the armour pool intact so that's why the Quasar after the railgun didn't kill, railgun takes less than half off the armour pool and quasar takes less than half off the health pool.
Bile titans don't die when missing it's hinde quarters. With ps5 bug I can shoot 5ish auto cannon shots and it loses it's wagon and walks around. It's more the impact damage playing a massive role afaik
Vs bots, the railgun is still viable, but why use it over the anti material rifle (aside from enjoyment)? They accomplish the exact same things, but anti material rifle is safer because it's quicker as it doesn't require charging. And while auto cannon does require a backpack slot, it also has the added utility of closing fabricators. The railgun legitimately has nothing going for it that others weapons can't accomplish. If it's going to be weak, it should at least fill its own niche, but it doesn't even do that.
@@Aniyah-CHG I mean, sure, but you're not going to take AMR against bugs since it's just not great against bugs. Railgun also does not one shot chargers either, while the trio of AT launchers we have do, easily.
You are comparing multiple weapons upsides with a single weapon upsides. It's a logical fallacy. Railgun is very good at what it does - oneshots everything the bots have, witht he exception of a tank, strips charger's armour off, or headshot him 3-4 times. The ability to pierce tank armour at high charge is VERY valuable, considering the weapon's rate of fire. It's just capable of doing everything.
@@kompatybilijny9348 Why use the railgun when the recoiless can straight one shot a charger with a headshot? Recoiless is so much better, 10 shots with back back, very fast projectile, reload is only 3 seconds that can be quicker with a friend to delete titans. Railgun got nerfed to shit and none uses it now, it desperately needs to be reverted.
I absolutely love how detailed and yet to the point your videos are. You actually test everything and show footage with your claims. You get into each segment quick, and move on to the next with correct timing. Your videos flow pretty well imo.
There's a few things I think Arrowhead may have written off because of their testing setups. Someone posted evidence that DoT damage just doesn't work if you're not hosting the lobby, and someone suggested that Arrowhead might not even be aware of it because they're always hosting in their testing setups, meaning they couldn't replicate it. It could be the same for the PS5 buff
that makes sense, I've had orbital gas strike work fine on one mission but fail to kill even the tiniest weenies on another. Then I stopped using it for obvious reasons. They were just chilling in the gas lol
i feel like recoilless is a superb weapon with a coordinated team because you can dump 7 rockets into something in a strangely small amount of time, for example you can wipe a shrieker nest from across the map in less than 10 seconds with a teammate reloading you. the recoilless is goated with team loading. you could annihilate 3 bile titans and wound a 4th in very little time. but team loading takes coordination which is hard with randoms and it takes solid aim which are its main drawbacks. (i may be biased, I love this gun)
Even without coordination I feel like it's undervalued. EAT gets the job done quickest but then goes on cooldown. The quasar also has a cooldown though it's shorter but in return you get unlimited ammo. The recoilless sits in the middle. Can fire follow-up shots faster than the quasar but slower than the EAT. It does have limited ammo but you always have that first shot ready go and being able to say "what charger?" is really nice.
Man, I'm so disappointed whenever someone asks "What's the point of the recoilless?". It's straight up one of the best weapons in the game, IF you have a team mate to reload you. Even if you don't, it's just slower. I think the Quasar killed the solo Recoilless for me, but if a teammate wants to bring one, you can be damn sure I'll ammo bitch for them.
my spouse got us the game specifically because they saw the recoilless team-reload mechanic in a trailer lol it makes so much of the game SO EASY when you have a dedicated backpack partner who A) never teamfires you & 2) responds immediately 100% of the time when i say "load, on me" i like to take double jetpack medarmor flamethrower breaks, or one of us goes stalwart the other grenade launcher so we can sit on the ridge of heavy hives & plow them down without going in, but my god does it feel amazing to plow 5 chargers down one after another at close range while the person you married is scream-laughing maniacally from the other room
I was thinking the same thing on about the recoilless rifle, especially if you get the new fifth ship module that fully restocks stratagem weapons. Have one person run the RC and the other person carry a supply pack. Both players carry stuns grenades and EMS mortar and orbital. You could probably cheese almost everything in game.
9:32 Because we happen to know exact armor penetration value of impact granade - 4, it's specifies that in tooltip in-game. So it might be because granade launcher has lesser armor penetration value.
So does that mean it has the same armor pen as AMR/autocannon/HMG? That also explains why it can kill shrieker nests. I guess that confirms that explosions have AP values; I wonder if AP values also determine whether buildings take damage or not. I wonder what are the AP values for some orbital and eagle strikes.
Yeah For some stupid reason game doesn't tell you penetration for other things. You can only guess that 1-3 is light armor, 4-6 is medium, and 7-9 is heavy armor. For example Senator revolver can penetrate front carapace of a Hive guard, but other pistols can't. But game doesn't tell you this. They all have same trait: Light Armor Pentration.
@@LaserTractor Nothing(0), very light(1), light(2), medium(3), heavy(4), tank(5). Every single "light" pen weapon has an Armor Penetration of 2, equal to light armor. Medium pen weapons have AP 3, including the Slugger which is just mislabeled. And so on. Technically there's 10 armor pen levels in the code but everything beyond 5 is used for objectives to make them resist or be immune to certain stratagems, like the science building. Liberator Penetrator, Senator, Dominator, Slugger, and MG-43 stratagem, all have 3 (medium) pen. AntiMaterial Rifle, the new Heavy Machine Gun, and Autocannon have 4 (heavy) pen. This is from datamining game stats.
@@agenticex I know youtube is pretty bad with links and will probably hide any comment that posts them; but is there a post or spreadsheet somewhere that covers all the datamined penetrations (if possible could you tell me what google keywords could be used to find it)? I know all the basic stuff. But I am curious about the higher level stuff. Like are recoilless and EAT 5 or 6 pen; and is Spear 6 or 7 pen? What are the pens of the safe and different charge levels of unsafe railgun? What is the armor value of the Titan's legs. And what is the pen of the different eagle strikes and orbitals?
@@josephburchanowski4636 Yeah, you can find it on the helldivers leaks r3d d1t. Keywords weapon stats. Problem is the data is just a spreadsheet of numbers you have to dig through and guestimate which goes to which projectile. you'll see what I mean when looking at the google doc.
That's the reason why many lost automaton defense mission as well. As long as one tank dies in front of the civilian evac center. You lost the game because that corpses kill all civilian that touches it.
Objective reason autocannon is better vs bots than railgun vs bots: The autocannon can literally take care of 90% of targets and the only ones it can't (certain objectives that need hellbomb call in or higher explosive damage strats) the railgun can't either. Autocannon can take out every enemy type the bots can throw at you in a maximum of 4 shots (tanks/turrets) with most taking 1 or 2 well placed shots including hulks. The autocannon can take out fabricators from as far as you can make out the vents. I'm not saying the railgun is bad, I'm just saying one of the two doesn't have an essentially useless fire mode and can take out objectives while the other is a glorified can opener that can blow up in your hands.
@@leinadlink Indeed, frankly the autocannon has far too much recoil, it needs a "deploy" mode where you set it up to be more stable so you can actually make use of its ridiculous full-auto mode which would then give a reason for the team loading mechanic because that is the only way to keep up with the fire rate lol.
A yes, the real spear experience. Point, click , click , click , click , click , click. Then roll a D4 on if the lock will “green tone” or just disappears. Even aiming at the triangle makes no difference I can discern. After the crash and game-freeze bugs it’s top of my list for fixes needed.

I just saw someone today,, 6-tap (in that ball park, it was really quick) a bile titan with an Arc Thrower. On his third titan kill I learnt to just save my nuke.
I've found that the Arc Thrower can more consistenly hit targets and weakspots if you angle it upwards of where you want it to hit. It either has a misaligned reticle like many other weapons in the game, or the softlock it has will compensate by pulling downwards where most weakspots usually are. Angling it like it has bullet drop also helps it connect to enemies more consistently since it will ignore bushes and such. I still don't know why those have a collision, they should remove it and things like the arc thrower and Spear would do way better by being more consistent. You can tell they have one because they will actually stop your bullets if you shoot at them with certain weapons. I'm guessing they have set up the collision of these assets so it blocks or overlaps the same channel where they do impact or LoS checks by mistake.
Now THIS!! Is a great content video. Opposed to "this gun is the new meta" let people see for themselves what the weapon does and let them choose. Great content.
The spear to me seems to work MUCH MIUCH better than for you. I dont know why. it is still not 100% consistent. It is the coolest looking bile titan 1 shot.
i was loosing my mind wondering why sometimes the railgun just goes godmode for awhile and other times feels like piss. this answered so many questions
I like a lot the time line at the tip of the screen, really helpful and cool So sad that the Spear lock on doesn't work well and hasn't been fixed yet, being able to one shot a bile titan its great
Devs: The Railgun is brain dead gameplay because you can one tap Bile Titans if you have a PS5 player in your squad. Also Devs: Here’s the Quasar Laser Cannon. It can two tap Bile Titans out of the gate, can’t blow you up, has infinite ammo, and doesn’t use a backpack slot.
It's just the EATs again but you can't run a second support weapon with it, pretty good balance IMO. I normally run EATs and the MG or arc thrower for horde clear
In a game with the amount of mobility I've needed in 7+, I can absolutely feel the sluggishness of the Quasar. The windup time, cooldown, and opportunities to get aim punched are a fair trade off for ammo efficiency and high single target damage.
It would be kinda legit, if it wasn't so reliant on the EMS/stuns. The other thing the HMG is surprisingly almost viable at is fighting hulks at close range, since it can blow off arms and legs in less than a second at the highest fire rate (Removing the arms removes the instant kill weapons, removing both legs instantly kills the hulk). It's still kind of a meme strat though, since it takes a lot of finesse to not die instantly when you're close to a hulk, and you _will_ be bodied if it has any kind of infantry support.
@@BackwardsPancake Just take stun grenades with the HMG vs bots. Stun the hulk and its easy to place a few shots in its face plate or the heatsink on its back and it dies. Use the low fire rate setting to shoot individual bullets at the face plate, or the high fire rate setting when you're close to the rear of the hulk and it'll blast the heatsink in less than a second (assuming you can control the recoil) The stun grenade is also good for locking down devastators and berserkers and then using the HMG to gun them down.
That footage of the flamethrower killing heavies in 1.5 seconds after the buff was one of the most successful gaslights I've ever seen. That was circulating everywhere
You can definitely kill chargers in seconds with flame thrower. Dodge the charge and lock in on one foreleg as it turns to face you. It can be dead by the time it actually does.
The flamer can definitely cook chargers with barely any effort, you just aim for the legs. I figured this out before they buffed it and I was the happiest camper when they did. Went from pretty niche to a solid pick against bugs.
for a backpack and support slot the spear needs more consistency to be considered over the other options. The HMG needs more ammo as well to be considered.
The Spear is a Long Range Support Weapon. It's not meant to be fired point blank, because the onboard Computer needs a clear sight picture to lock on, and the javelin takes time to launch out, and speed up. I've one shot Bile Titans, bot cannon turrets, tanks, hulks, chargers, and even bot fabricators from like, 200+ meters away. And it can one shot the turret cannon on the new factory striders.
I know a lot of people are doing similar videos as this but let me say that I appreciate the detail that you are putting in to play, video capture and do legit commentary. Thank you brother, good work.
hulk visor and titan belly is lv4 medium armour. AMR, HMG, Autocannon and impacts (as you can see in the stats) are lv4 pen. GPMG and other primaries are lv3 while LMG is lv2 etc. Meanwhile the heavy hitters are lv7 pen
Ok here is my take on the whole autocannon vs raigun against bots diecussion Autocannon can do everything the railgun can do but without charging, it can also destroy fabricators amd take down bruisers, but you do loose your bagpack slot I personally will always bring thr autocannon vs bots, but i can understand railgun
To finesse the spear targeting, mark your target with a ping and scope in certain parts of the enemies lock on better. Also, I notice it's way less reliable when aiming through smoke but it could be coincidence. And for the arc thrower when I aim slightly above the bile titans head I get more consistent 1 shots with it
Something that really helps when running the arc thrower is shooting out the belly first, scorcher can do it super fast. Obvious, I know but makes a really big difference for the time to kill. Still far from an ideal weapon for it, but its good to know you can, on top of how great it is against the other bugs
The scorcher can kill biles on it's own. I don't know how many shots it actually takes, but it does explosive damage, so you can pop the sacks and keep shooting and eventually it will die. I do that a lot when I know one is weak and don't want to waste a strat on them.
a little tip for the arc thrower... if u have the Timing down i'd recommend to change to first person aspecially for killing bile titans bc u can then aim and hit without random shots going to the belly
HMG really ripped that this fast. Is there datamining out on its AP? I hate that it doesn't have a third person crosshair to more simply confirm if it is overpenetrating on heavy armor. But I continue to suspect it might be the game's first weapon that utilizes a value above heavy but below tank instead of simply at heavy. This bile titan thorax kill goes alongside how fast it rips hulks with body shots as apparent evidence to that effect. I'm starting to come to the side of thinking it needs an ammo economy buff through, like apparently everyone else. It just needed more than a day 1 impression before being declared dead on arrival for me.

I use the arc thrower almost exclusively and I *usually* 4-5 shot bile titans. Think the worst I've had was 10. I was really adept at BTs and chargers with the recoilless, but the no ammo for the arc thrower makes it my primary weapon 90% of the time, occasionally I pull my main out for hunters or melee bots
Certain playstyles are more effective though, especially in a group. If you try that trick with the EMS and HMG in a group, someone will probably call an eagle strike or orbital down on you before you finish
@@KBWrecker by playstyle i meant skill set. some people are just better at managing the cons and taking advantage of the pros in certain guns better than others
the playstyle is correct in the concept of weapon class. being good with shottys assault rifles lasers dmr's ect but the individual weapons of each class requires you to know where to aim it for different parts of different enemies in this game. like knowing the scythe can cut most bugs legs off very efficiently instead of just body shots or i would never have thought of using auto cannon on the biles back section as some examples. so i would proceed to write them off as useless even though i prefer those playstyles, id just die trying to use them.
I think railgun needs a buff anyway, you have to keep an eye at what you're aiming at AND the power level, and you can lose both your life AND the railgun if you fail it. 6:16 Holding the button will make the Spear shoot as soon as the lock on is confirmed. There's a glow when you hit the Titan by the way, it clearly hit his face
Wait. did the devs nerf the arc thrower because it was overperforming because of the PS5 bug? I remember seeing a post about the reason for the nerf. Here's the quote from Alexus "People were using the arc thrower to slap bile titans across the map (with infinite ammo mind you), and started to think "yeah that's probably too much" I don't know what game they're playing but I think its' different from the one that we are.
Not sure what you were doing wrong, but I regularly kill Bile Titans with the Flamethrower - it takes about 18-25 seconds of continuous flame on the head to drop it. Though it's somewhat inconsistent, I believe that the Bile Titan takes more damage if it's mouth is open - mid puking on you. Edit: This is with Enhanced Combustion.
Another weapon to use is the static shield generator bubble, a bile titan will attack it and when the attack splashes on the shield it will melt its own face off.
Something I've noticed while playing, if you manage to have a part of the titans back blown off from say a rail cannon or rocket pods it seems to only take 1 or 2 impact grenades into the gooey bits. Haven't done any specific testing, just something I have been doing when the opportunity presents and it seems to work pretty consistently.
Grenade launcher and flamer are at penetration3, a broken titan belly is at armor level4(same as hulk's visor), you need at least HMG/AMR shots to go through
I've had more consistent success with the arc thrower hitting the titan from the side, and having something else under/near for the lightning to jump to. it's wildly inconsistent but really satisfying to blow up a titan or a charger in 1 hit.
Can we get a " Jack of all trades " weapon review video something that can kill Chargers, Bile Titans, Automatron Tanks, Hulks ect but also useful for destroying structural objectives? Perhaps if it's the Qasar you could do a "Pre-Release" version (before the Qasar and the new LMG came out) then a 2nd one that includes the Qasar and new LMG as well. All in the same video of course.
Appreciate your hard work brother, you and claysthetics are the best helldivers YTers. The spear needs some major buffs to lock on and its ammo pack should be changed so that it (and the recoilless) get most if not all of the ammo back from one resupply, and assisted reloads should be able to be done by teammates coming over to you while you wear the backpack.
Awesome, thanks man! Was hoping the AMR might take the bile titan faster than that, 8 mags is rough. Autocannon definitely works though! That Quasar is just a beast, think it’s my new favourite Edit: also pleasantly surprised by the HMG, but they need to double its mag size. 75 round is pathetic for the type of weapon it is, especially with only two spares
While I do agree that 75 rounds a mag is kinda rough, it's still better than it's younger brother since you get both box mags back when you grab a resupply. Having the supply backpack makes the HMG a lot more usable.
I do a precision orbital strike and granade launcher combo, break the back armour with the strike and a full mag(sometimes less) of granade launcher. It also helps a lot if you have a supply backpack.
i haven't done any testing, but sometimes when i am on the same level as the bile titan's head about 3 shots will kill it, and you can tell when they are hitting just right. i play on pc and always host
Qusar is my favourite, 2 shots bile titan when hitting the head, 1 shot charger hitting head, infinite ammo, can shoot across the map, destroy bug holes, destroy shreiker and spore nests
Now _this_ is the content I'm subscribed for! Great job! Re: Railgun I hope the PS5 bug didn't affect the first rebalancing pass. Hopefully, the devs will address this issue and rebalance the weapon properly in the future.
The quasar cannon is probably best weapon since it doesn’t need ammo. Rail gun is my second option if I wanna switch things up or plan to just run away from the big guys.
I’m fairly sure the Recoilless can one shot titans if you hit it in a very specific spot on the top of the head. But it’s not very consistent snd you can usually only count on a 2 shot kill
1:35 I'm afraid this is actually not true, or at least not for both enemy factions, in Helldive(9) difficulty automaton Hulks take 3 face shots from the Quasar cannon, while in lower difficulties such as Extreme(6) they take 2. Same thing applies to other automaton units such as the shield wearing ones, they take about 2 magazines more than they do in lower difficulties (Liberator Penetrator)
Didn't talk about the recoiless enough, you said that the EAT and quaser both have a cooldown but the recoiless is just a reload, even better if your teammate reloads it for you. So by far the best option is the recoiless with a teammate cause you can pump out 2 shots to the face in 3 seconds
I’ve killer many Bile Titans with the flame thrower. What I do is get below it, and fire that hotness upwards. It takes longer than other weapons to kill a Titan, but not as long as most of the rest. I think it takes around 2 1/2 canisters to kill a Titan. And it becomes harder if you’re surrounded by an army of bugs. But it is doable 🔥
I'm an arc thrower main, and I'll definitely support my fellow divers on the Titan, but it doesn't do much besides peeling off armor plates. If you're really, really lucky and it barely has any HP left, you can land the killing shot, but in months of playing, I've only managed that twice.
Saying railgun and autocannon are useless against bugs is kinda braindead ngl. They are not the best but they are extremely useful. Railgun one shots all spewer bugs with a direct headshot, same for all mid grade bugs. They are weak against chargers and bile titans but thats not a huge deal with stratagems
The thing with ARC thrower (in my experience) is that its not deal any damage through armor, but every hit penetrates a tiny hole in it so you deal damage only when it hits this previous pixels. And so as the bug moves u cant hit 1 pixel every time. Thats why it can took kill simple fatty from 4-5 shots, up to literally 30-40 shots
@@zergidrom4572 It's broken English and r-re-reading is not giving me any clarity. I also don't know what "simple fatty" is. Chargers take 6 clean headshots consistently. Spewers i think just take 2 headshots. From what I understood you're saying you need to hit the exact same spot repeatedly, which is hard because the bug moves. But it's only divided per body part, not per pixel. You also said arc thrower doesn't damage through armor, which is just wrong. Arc thrower ignores armor, you can see this by the lack of white/red/deflect indicators on shots.
@@BigDBrian "Chargers take 6 clean headshots consistently." only when he stay or run from distance so u land same shots "You also said arc thrower doesn't damage through armor, which is just wrong." Yeah? now shoot charger from many angles and then tell me how many shots u did before he dies
@@zergidrom4572 If the arc thrower didn't damage through armor, then it would not kill a charger at all without hitting unarmored backside. "only when he stay or run from distance so u land same shots" You need to land the hits on the same bodypart (head) yes, which is not nearly as precise as pixels like you suggested. You can hit the head from different angles and it'll still work, as long as you're actually hitting the head each time. This is the same as it works for other weapons. For instance with flamethrower you want to focus down one leg, but you don't have to hit the exact same part of that leg the entire time.
It's wild that they nerf the railgun and now we have the quasar cannon THAT CAN DESTROY EVERYTHING. it blows up factories and nests, 2 shots shrieker nests, 2 shots biles, easily takes down hulks, tanks and turrets, 1 shots drop bot ships. LIKE BRO MOST SUPPORT WEAPONS ARE POINTLESS NOW because the quasar can do it all with the only drawback being the minimal cooldown period.
Its insane to me how the Railgun went from being a weapon of mass destruction capable of one-shotting the strongest enemies in the game, to being a pea shooter
I know it's very possible to kill bile titans with the flamethrower, but I aimed at the head. I can't be entirely sure though as it was always damaged with ETA before. If you can ever check again, I'd love to see it. Thanks for the info on everything!
I feel like the autocannon should take less shots given you have to hit it only in the underbelly (not enough pen to go through armor anywhere like the rocket weapons and the cannon). It should be like 10 hitsntonthe underside weak spot to kill given its partly explosive filler shells.
Bruh, that plucky little HMG was really surprising! a heavy gunner duo apparently can chainsaw down a Bile Titan with little trouble if they have an EMS Mortar / Strike or Stun Grenades at the ready. Honestly makes me very confused as to why the Flamethrower isn't doing much at all, considering how very fast it melts Charger legs / heads. Could we maybe make very sure Scorcher can't break out the back?

Its a cheap way to not letting you spawn camping bots fabricators. Not to mention the trajectory sucks as hell, nor the damage can cover up that fact
the spear has a minimum range of around 60 meters, at that range it has consistent lock on
The trick to use spear is you can't point it at the target directly, but have to aim either below if it is close or above it it is far. Pointing directly at the target works only at very specific distance.

Not being able to cook the BT with flamethrower from underneath is the biggest disappointment in this game.
at least it only takes a quick spray with it to knock out the squishy bits and stop it from spitting
I think it would be too strong lowkey
should test it with two people cooking it, i've noticed 2 ft's focusing a charger kills it more than twice as quickly as 1 does (takes almost exactly a full tank solo but with a cookout team i barely use any fuel before it pops)
Target the flamethrower exclusively at one of the front legs, it takes like a quarter tank vs a full tank if you aim at the head or general body.
You can
I have a friend that does that, lmao
The railgun took so long our Dough bro got time to change his shirt.
It looked like a good number of this shots missed, unless I’m blind
When they nerfed the railgun they gave the bile titan a weak spot just behind the mouth on its cheek. You can one shot it consistently there(with perfect aim).
@@Untitled_Massacre have you done this solo on pc? i keep hearing about this weakspot but im 99% sure its just the ps5 bug at work

I refuse to believe its intended to take 19 shots of rg to kill a titan that's absurd.
I'm waiting to see an official statement but 19 shots is INSANE

Autocannon and Railgun taking the same amount of shots while one of them is directly in the head and the other is on the belly is just ridiculous ngl LMAO

If it's going to be weak, it should at least fill its own niche, but it doesn't even do that.
rail needs a scope too its red dot sight is for like a short range weapon
The AMR can't 3 headshot chargers for one
Let this man cook
that makes sense, I've had orbital gas strike work fine on one mission but fail to kill even the tiniest weenies on another.
I think the Quasar killed the solo Recoilless for me, but if a teammate wants to bring one, you can be damn sure I'll ammo bitch for them.
my spouse got us the game specifically because they saw the recoilless team-reload mechanic in a trailer lol it makes so much of the game SO EASY when you have a dedicated backpack partner who A) never teamfires you & 2) responds immediately 100% of the time when i say "load, on me"
i like to take double jetpack medarmor flamethrower breaks, or one of us goes stalwart the other grenade launcher so we can sit on the ridge of heavy hives & plow them down without going in, but my god does it feel amazing to plow 5 chargers down one after another at close range while the person you married is scream-laughing maniacally from the other room
Yeah
For some stupid reason game doesn't tell you penetration for other things.
@@LaserTractor

Technically there's 10 armor pen levels in the code but everything beyond 5 is used for objectives to make them resist or be immune to certain stratagems, like the science building.
Liberator Penetrator, Senator, Dominator, Slugger, and MG-43 stratagem, all have 3 (medium) pen.
AntiMaterial Rifle, the new Heavy Machine Gun, and Autocannon have 4 (heavy) pen.

I'm not saying the railgun is bad, I'm just saying one of the two doesn't have an essentially useless fire mode and can take out objectives while the other is a glorified can opener that can blow up in your hands.
the autocannon also has a useless firemode tho. You can set it to full auto, but like, why would you? It's not like it fires faster than you can click
they nerfed the wrong thing about the railgun, it should be high dmg low ammo count, not mediocre dmg high ammo count.
@@rara3538 Indeed. My suggestion is to un-nerf it then take away half its ammo.

I counted 56 Arc Thrower shots in this video to various parts of the body.

Also, it 1 taps dropships and destroys bot fabricators and bug holes.
Also here’s 2 eat17’s that you can call down every 60 seconds that one shot chargers that requires 0 brainpower to use
It's just the EATs again but you can't run a second support weapon with it, pretty good balance IMO.
I normally run EATs and the MG or arc thrower for horde clear
In a game with the amount of mobility I've needed in 7+, I can absolutely feel the sluggishness of the Quasar. The windup time, cooldown, and opportunities to get aim punched are a fair trade off for ammo efficiency and high single target damage.

holy shit , heavy machine gun two mags the bile titan?!?!?
Imagine if it had 150 rounds a mag
Use the low fire rate setting to shoot individual bullets at the face plate, or the high fire rate setting when you're close to the rear of the hulk and it'll blast the heatsink in less than a second (assuming you can control the recoil)
The stun grenade is also good for locking down devastators and berserkers and then using the HMG to gun them down.

@@DankJudgement Leg and leg joint are two separate hurtboxes but share the same leg health pool.
Aim for one leg right at the knee.
I really enjoyed the format of this video. Thank you for the info, man.
Holy smokes this video took a lot of work. Very good job!
for a backpack and support slot the spear needs more consistency to be considered over the other options.

The heavy machine gun killing a bile titan at all is wild, but two mags? God damn brother
It’s the same armor pen as the hmg emplacement. So I would expect to would be able to.
hulk visor and titan belly is lv4 medium armour.
AMR, HMG, Autocannon and impacts (as you can see in the stats) are lv4 pen. GPMG and other primaries are lv3 while LMG is lv2 etc.
Meanwhile the heavy hitters are lv7 pen
Ok here is my take on the whole autocannon vs raigun against bots diecussion
Autocannon can do everything the railgun can do but without charging, it can also destroy fabricators amd take down bruisers, but you do loose your bagpack slot
I personally will always bring thr autocannon vs bots, but i can understand railgun
10 shots in a mag, 60 including the backpack, the autocannon is goated
To finesse the spear targeting, mark your target with a ping and scope in certain parts of the enemies lock on better. Also, I notice it's way less reliable when aiming through smoke but it could be coincidence. And for the arc thrower when I aim slightly above the bile titans head I get more consistent 1 shots with it
Can you test how much damage shooting down the dropships actually do to the bots?
Something that really helps when running the arc thrower is shooting out the belly first, scorcher can do it super fast. Obvious, I know but makes a really big difference for the time to kill. Still far from an ideal weapon for it, but its good to know you can, on top of how great it is against the other bugs
The scorcher can kill biles on it's own. I don't know how many shots it actually takes, but it does explosive damage, so you can pop the sacks and keep shooting and eventually it will die. I do that a lot when I know one is weak and don't want to waste a strat on them.
@@Maeldruin makes sense from how fast it kills tanks and tower turrets in one mag, and the charger tail, explosive damage can be really useful

a little tip for the arc thrower... if u have the Timing down i'd recommend to change to first person aspecially for killing bile titans bc u can then aim and hit without random shots going to the belly

I was really adept at BTs and chargers with the recoilless, but the no ammo for the arc thrower makes it my primary weapon 90% of the time, occasionally I pull my main out for hunters or melee bots
the thing with “this gun is better than that gun” is that a lot of the time it’s just that one weapon is better for your playstyle.
Certain playstyles are more effective though, especially in a group. If you try that trick with the EMS and HMG in a group, someone will probably call an eagle strike or orbital down on you before you finish
@@KBWrecker by playstyle i meant skill set. some people are just better at managing the cons and taking advantage of the pros in certain guns better than others
the playstyle is correct in the concept of weapon class. being good with shottys assault rifles lasers dmr's ect but the individual weapons of each class
requires you to know where to aim it for different parts of different enemies in this game. like knowing the scythe can cut most bugs legs off very efficiently instead of just body shots or i would never have thought of using auto cannon on the biles back section as some examples. so i would proceed to write them off as useless even though i prefer those playstyles, id just die trying to use them.
I think railgun needs a buff anyway, you have to keep an eye at what you're aiming at AND the power level, and you can lose both your life AND the railgun if you fail it.

Love how you say Brother. Hell yeah brother. I love doing tests like this myself. A lot of info is left out due to meta chasers.
I have had experience is where a bile titan has taken 4 hits from a disposable rocket launchered the face and survived.
The Quasar is one shot to the mouth if you can hit it accurately
Can we get a " Jack of all trades " weapon review video something that can kill Chargers, Bile Titans, Automatron Tanks, Hulks ect but also useful for destroying structural objectives? Perhaps if it's the Qasar you could do a "Pre-Release" version (before the Qasar and the new LMG came out) then a 2nd one that includes the Qasar and new LMG as well. All in the same video of course.
Appreciate your hard work brother, you and claysthetics are the best helldivers YTers.
The spear needs some major buffs to lock on and its ammo pack should be changed so that it (and the recoilless) get most if not all of the ammo back from one resupply, and assisted reloads should be able to be done by teammates coming over to you while you wear the backpack.
nice video! with hmg change mags a few rounds off empty to reduce reload from 7 to 5 secs!

Awesome, thanks man! Was hoping the AMR might take the bile titan faster than that, 8 mags is rough. Autocannon definitely works though! That Quasar is just a beast, think it’s my new favourite
Edit: also pleasantly surprised by the HMG, but they need to double its mag size.

Bruh the pouncer at 4:44 😂😂
i haven't done any testing, but sometimes when i am on the same level as the bile titan's head about 3 shots will kill it, and you can tell when they are hitting just right. i play on pc and always host
Qusar is my favourite, 2 shots bile titan when hitting the head, 1 shot charger hitting head, infinite ammo, can shoot across the map, destroy bug holes, destroy shreiker and spore nests
Now _this_ is the content I'm subscribed for! Great job!
Re: Railgun
I hope the PS5 bug didn't affect the first rebalancing pass. Hopefully, the devs will address this issue and rebalance the weapon properly in the future.
The quasar cannon is probably best weapon since it doesn’t need ammo. Rail gun is my second option if I wanna switch things up or plan to just run away from the big guys.
Every single weapon: "random undocumented ghost nerfs" or "incompetent programming".
You can kill one with a single shot with the recoilless, somehow
I’m fairly sure the Recoilless can one shot titans if you hit it in a very specific spot on the top of the head. But it’s not very consistent snd you can usually only count on a 2 shot kill
I could be wrong but I heard those squishy bits on the bile titans and chargers only take 10% off any damage applied to those areas.
W dough vid yet again! Keep up the good fight against them bugs o7
I wonder if the AMR would work better when going for the soft part of the face?
Possibly, I tried it before and wrote it off but I didn't invest that much ammo at the time
Didn't talk about the recoiless enough, you said that the EAT and quaser both have a cooldown but the recoiless is just a reload, even better if your teammate reloads it for you. So by far the best option is the recoiless with a teammate cause you can pump out 2 shots to the face in 3 seconds
It only works once every few minutes but orbital rail cannon to Crack the armor and a couple grenades from the launcher is ez mode vs biles.
If you range a scoped weapon, it will change the magnification of the scope. Not all scopes.
They need to let us land on the Bile Titan to headshot it. Gives Legolas vibes from LotR
Ones you have shot the body from underneath, it will bleed out, so you do not need to keep shooting necessarily.
Hey bro, hope you do a video on how fire damage is bugged when you are hosting vs. when you host. It's a crime against flamethrower and incen ammo.
Saying railgun and autocannon are useless against bugs is kinda braindead ngl. They are not the best but they are extremely useful. Railgun one shots all spewer bugs with a direct headshot, same for all mid grade bugs. They are weak against chargers and bile titans but thats not a huge deal with stratagems
the whole point in support weapons like railgun and auto cannon is to be good vs heavies and elites L M A O, critical thought is lackin
I've become a big fan of Beam guns in Sci-Fi worlds. Frankly... I really want a Laser Cannon Turret now as well. A Laser *Cannon* Turret.
With the gunships, the Railgun is absolutely worse than the autocannon
The thing with ARC thrower (in my experience) is that its not deal any damage through armor, but every hit penetrates a tiny hole in it so you deal damage only when it hits this previous pixels. And so as the bug moves u cant hit 1 pixel every time. Thats why it can took kill simple fatty from 4-5 shots, up to literally 30-40 shots
why can it consistently kill chargers, hive guards and armored bile spewers then
@@BigDBrian ?? i suggest re-read my comment few times
@@BigDBrian
"Chargers take 6 clean headshots consistently."
only when he stay or run from distance so u land same shots
"You also said arc thrower doesn't damage through armor, which is just wrong."
Yeah? now shoot charger from many angles and then tell me how many shots u did before he dies
@@zergidrom4572 If the arc thrower didn't damage through armor, then it would not kill a charger at all without hitting unarmored backside.
"only when he stay or run from distance so u land same shots"
You need to land the hits on the same bodypart (head) yes, which is not nearly as precise as pixels like you suggested.
It's like they nerf the rail gun then make a whole different asset that is essentially the old rail gun
So EAT, Quassar Cannon and Recoiless, all take 2 shoots in the head?
To the forehead specifically, yes. Ah and the Patriot rockets.
Seriously appreciate your work here.
